Actually, Jotaro did won the game without the "banlist ruling", because with all those combos and talking, i'm pretty sure his opponent's turn timed out.
Percy doesn't work like that. Every action you take puts a couple seconds back on the timer. You'd have to be inactive for a while to actually lose by timing out.

I mean now adays you can pull off your best combos and field set ups under (for the most part) 15 to 20 cards. A lot of them use even less. So after the win condition is set then all that is left is filler. Which can be anything as long as it doesnt break the flow of your deck.

They're not references, they just have the same origin.

Duc Nguyen yugi is in the first couple seasons, so it we talk about just season 1, no. But if we talk about them all, yes.
I dunno if it was intentional but when Joseph says "Draw your best card" he actually says Star Platinum and that was just funny to me.
