  • A bill aimed at stopping people experiencing homelessness from sleeping in public spaces like parks and sidewalks has passed in the Florida Legislature and is waiting for Governor Ron DeSantis’ signature. Even if the governor signs off on the bill immediately, it still would not go into effect until Oct. 1.
However, for some people who live and work along Clematis Street, the issue of homelessness is not one that can wait six months. They say they do not always feel safe along downtown West Palm Beach street, despite being just feet from City Hall. They want to know why nothing is being done.
"When women come down here, if they come down here with their kids, they feel intimidated," the owner of Finer Optics, Russ Griffin, said. "They're scared and it's gonna chase 'em away and that doesn't help our business at all,".

It's West Palm Beach. Why would anyone go there? It's a dump.

A better idea would be to provide a larger homeless shelter that is completely safe to stay in & big enough for all the homeless people in that area (in each city) before telling them they can't stay on the street. Cuz here in Tallahassee the shelter isn't big enough & the employees treat people like shit.
