  • One of Palm Beach County's top experts on homelessness called it a mistake for Gov. Ron DeSantis to sign a homeless bill into law earlier this month. She argued the measure should've been thought out first.
Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County CEO Dr. Tomara Mays said she knows how to get people experiencing homelessness off Palm Beach County streets, including Clemantis Street, which has seen an increase in people gathering there.
"We need at least six emergency shelters," Mays said. "It can be a tent. It could be a vacant building with beds in it. The goal is to get these individuals off the street."
However, she did not offer possible locations for the shelters.

Dr. Mays needs to stop blaming and making excuses. With every interview I've seen she repeats the same points. The law has been established therefore, let's get to work on finding a solution to the homeless crisis.
