I would love to see more videos of you fishing in the water. Its a unique view where we get to see the conditions your fishing in and how you are working the bait
I have fished them with a lightly weighted screw lock swim bait hook as Kemura recommended for the larger sizes. I like the way you are fishing them here. I am so excited to see you fishing these! Love the challenge! You are having more luck than I am. Thank you so much for the great content! Please do this again.
🍺. I have fished the Deps Bullflat, the Geecrack spiron, and the OSP DoLiveSS Gill. They are basically all the same bait in principle and profile but made by different company’s. Each of these baits have great under water footage in a swimming pool available on line to watch. There are numerous ways/presentations to fish these baits with some flat out awesome actions/movements in the water. The Deps for me finished in 3rd place out of the 3 baits. I highly recommend you search these baits underwater footage.
Hey Matt seriously thank you for the actual reality of baits, by that I mean you may need more time with them. Great video without the bloated content!!!!!
I’ve fished these a lot this last year. I really like the 5.8 on a 6/0 or 7/0 swimbait hook with the cps pin. I fish it around shallow grass and let it glide into the grass. It’s been pretty successful, but I’m not sure if it’s going to continue to be effective, or if it is just different and new. We will see.
Watch the hookup tackle videos on this bait and with Kenta Kimura. The largest size is on a swimbait hook 8/0 kind of fished like a glide bait.. The smallest is good on dropshot ( use a wide gap dropshot hook, it's thick). Free rig and Texas rig in between sizes. Everything on a spinning rod with light line (8lb flouro) except for the biggest size (5.8). Flat side is meant to be up. You can nail weight it for further glides or faster sink rates. You can fish it like a senko. It's worth figuring it out. Use a screw lock keeper to improve the durability/ save money..
Been fishing the Bull Flat a couple years now free rig. Don’t how the problem like you had loosing tails and baits though . Hook Up Tackle does some very good videos on the Bull Flat baits and techniques.
They do get bit. I don’t go through as many baits when using an ewg screw lock type hook. OSP makes a similar bait called the dolive gill. In similar sizes the OSP bait is not quite as heavy and to me glides a little easier particularly when rigged backwards which works well when skipping under docks, overhangs, etc.
A minute in - They're mainly a free rig bait...this should be interesting. It's made to catch water on the fall with free rig. Post View Edit - Caught them t-rigging a free rig bait! That's impressive. Just goes to show you how without preconceived ideas of how it's fished...fresh eyes can make it work. Liked it!
I fished the 4.8” Texas rigged with a screw lock hook last night. Skipping it in to cover is a fun way to fish it. My bites came as a topwater bite or as soon as it fell. ***get Berkley to make something like this. You can’t buy the deps in white, which is a killer color, you have to order white from Japan.
I finally got the chance to try my gillys out I’m just mentioning them as they are a bluegill style bait. Like these I went through probably the same amount. The over all profile and they way they flutter are obvious bass magnet’s but I wish they would just be a touch tougher plastic!
Throw these all of the time on the Delta. Usually Texas rig with light weight 1/8-1/4 and let it spiral. Gets hammered. I bet it would work punching or with a heavier weight just as well.
Tried it a few times when the bass were schooled and feeding on bluegills. It works, but I did much better with other plastics that resemble more of a crawdad, even though they were feeling on bluegills.
Like the other folks are sayin, try some screw lock hooks (it’ll go better from my personal experiences). Try the Gee crack for a little more durability if you’d like that, too.
I think production is easier in Japan. In the US, I think the volume requirements to get the same quality manufacturing is too high and difficult to match for newer concepts and designs. I'm sure we'd all be doing it if we could.
I haven't tried them myself & it looks like they no problems getting bites. The durability seems like an issue. What if you uses a non weighted swimbait hook & still texas rig them? Then the screwlock may keep baits on longer? I use swimbaits hooks like that all time with worms, flukes, creature baits & baits always last alot longer. Doesn't seem to affect amount of bites for me
@@MattStefanFishing great minds think alike... I prefer screwlock swimbait hooks for alot my soft plastics , use them alot more than ewg offset because my baits last so long. Kinda hard to thread into zman baits but once you do they last really really long time!
Would have been interesting to see you throw on one of your favorites and go back through to see if thr hookup percentage was any better or if you got a few bites fishing behind it
weedless jig head might have improved the hook set. that tail coming off so easily is an issue. maybe a Z-man material would be best for that kind of tail design.
Wow like 3 back to back casts where they straight robbed you. I have personally used the largest size, texas rigged on a highly pressured small lake in CA where 2 fish is a good day. I caught 4 monster bass in a few hours
I'm not familiar with those baits. They sorta remind me of a creature bait crossed with a Gilly. Normally, I prefer softer plastics because it makes hook sets easier. But those might be a bit too soft. If you're ever looking to try more baits, let me know. I'd really like to send you some of my homemade worms and bladed jigs. I don't ever sell them, but I would sure like to say "Matt Stefan caught a fish on my baits!" for bragging rights.
Honestly I don't know what to say. I use to have the same issue with max scent till I finally figured it out. Maybe weightless!?! Maybe give it an extra pause!?! Trailer?!?
@@secretbassrigs You gotta give'm 15-30 seconds or let them move off before you set the hook!!! A little super glue at the head doesn't hurt either. Once they bite they really don't drop it, just let them get the whole thing in their mouth.
When a day on the water is getting more expensive ,average guys-find that saving money for plastics equals 1 gal of gas ,not so bad ,but you can make your own at home in a micro wave like that deeps like some others first get bit great day matt
@@MattStefanFishing They would cost me about $16 a pack since I’m in Canada, and they only come with 6 in a pack for the 3, and 3.8 inch. The 4.8 inch only come with 4. You ripped through 5 in 17 minutes. Those things will burn a hole in my wallet. 🤣🤣 I would try them, but buying them constantly would suck.
