    Great game I ordered this today.
    At 19:25 the German machine gunner attacked a US scout that was on the other side of the large building. I personally think the cover defence of the tile containing that large building is too low as the image of the building takes up the majority of the tile. There's minimal line of sight.

    Interesting game. I think it would make for a great Legacy Game where you start the war with the most basic of units and through each scenario, you improve your starting deck, research and tech for future scenarios. I think R&D and Tech could also be cool in this game, using actions to research better weapons, armor, etc. Maybe get other units like Air, Sea, Tanks.
    One thing I wish the game had was a damaged meter for units. Then they could add a Medic card in the game to assist with heals.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 лет назад +1

      Adding a legacy element to this would certainly work, and to a certain extent if you play the scenarios in order this essentially happens since the very first ones only use the simplest units.

    Seems like square 1B should have a higher defence bonus? It's a massive building!
    My only gripe though, this looks like a really really good game!
    Hope they do Expansions, more scenarios and map tiles, maybe some Armour and Navy influence, and some special one use only cards that don't go in the deck, once you own them they are there ready for call of on any round, special forces, artillery or targeted air strike etc, maybe these could be drawn from a blind pile so you don't know what you get?
    I guess this game essentially needs to be kept more or less as light as it is though, think that's pretty much one of it's key attractions for most players? Also wouldn't want to increase the play time much ...maybe it just needs scenarios and tiles for expansion?
    What if they added British and Italian forces for new scenarios, and then a few 4 Player scenarios to boot!? :D

      In my opinion playthroughs are always better than "teaching" games by going over the rules. So many people opt for the "teaching" approach, and it just confuses the heck out of me and leaves my head swimming. Playthroughs show the rules in action and show what you're supposed to DO. It's like video games. Their tutorials throw you into gameplay and you "learn" the game that way. Why should board games be any different?

    I think your comment at 13:10 or so about flipping an enemy control token to the scout side when you enter his area and it is occupied by one of his units is incorrect. On BGG someone brought this up and the designer said you cannot do a Control action in an area you both occupy with units.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 лет назад +2

      It looks like I missunderstood the effectiveness of the control action. I thought you had to do one control action to unflip the enemy and another to flip yours (once no enemies where on the space) but it turns out this is done with a single action. I'll add a note to the Klingon subtitles.

  • @jobu88

    When you describe the "Guide" action, you said "you can move any of the tokens on the map." Do you mean any ONE token? Or do you actually mean "you can move ALL of the tokens that you want to move on the map"? Reading the rulebook, I definitely got the impression that it meant "any ONE" unit, not any and all units, because of the specific wording of the Guide action, as follows:
    GUIDE:
    Move any combat counter up to X tiles. ( not "counters")
    The tile you move onto must be scouted or controlled by your side. ( not "tiles you move onto)
    If you move your Mortar combat counter, remove your target marker from the board.
    You cannot move a suppressed combat counter.

    I must say I would never have expected you to play an actual wargame. XD I've seen so many Normandy set wargames you could open up an entire store just selling those and that is not even hyperbole. This one however is quite possibly the most unique one I have seen in a long time, the vast majority are some kind of hex and counter game that use combat tables and such but this is a deck builder which I have never seen used with this particular topic. To me it's an underutilized mechanic in this genre. I like how you have to have cards corresponding with a particular type of unit down to the platoon it's a part of to use it and when it takes a hit you have to dispose of one of those cards permanently representing casualties. It's both thematic and works very well gameplay wise. Excellent work as always with the playthrough Jon.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 лет назад

      I'm glad you enjoyed this one :) Wargames are certainly NOT my area of expertise or even interest but the deck building mechanic really suckered me in on this one. I doubt I'll play it much (I rarely play 2p only games anyway) but I've enjoyed my plays so far.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 лет назад +1

      RUclips does create auto-generated english captions, though it does seem like every 20th word or so is wrong. Hopefully that can be of some help, it's unfortunate this means corrections in the Klingon language can't be seen. I'm quite frustrated youtube offers no tool to allow creators the ability to add corrections to videos later so we are forced to do the Klingon thing. I hope you enjoy the game when you get it.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  4 года назад +1

      They can certainly be replayed. The starting setup will be the same but the decisions you make and shuffle of the deck will make one play of the same scenario different from another I'm sure.

    • @devincenatiempo2238
      @devincenatiempo2238 4 года назад

      You can also play the other side. Plus, if you lose, you’ll usually want to play again to see if you can win. I have only played the first two scenarios which are a bit simpler, but seeing the setup for this scenario it looks like it has a ton of replay-ability with all the options. I’m guessing with 12 scenarios it will be a very long time before this gets stale for me.
