Hi Chris, yes I taught myself through watching RUclips videos, I’ve done quite a bit of domestic wiring through my job as a gas engineer but wasn’t used to 12v van wiring. Greg virgoe’s videos were a huge help and for sizing up the wiring I used the wiring sizing calculator on ‘12 volt planet’s website, also I preferred to oversize the cable a little bit just to be safe even though it works out a bit more expensive. Also make sure you have a mega fuse between your batteries and your positive busbar. I used crimped connectors with shrink wrap over the joints where I joined wires just to add a bit more support and it’s been fine. All the best

I didn’t want the hassle and possible future leakage problems of cutting a large hole in the side of the van as the hole would also have intruded into the black plastic trim that runs across the sides of these vans. It’s honestly not a problem the way that it is. Cheers

Hi Ned, thanks for the compliments and yes I’m proud of the van and how it turned out. The doors and all of the cupboards etc are the same piece of furniture board that I cut out, this way the grain in the wood matches up when the door is closed. From memory I think I used a 5.5mm straight router bit, the template for the cut out was 5mm larger than the actual cutout to allow for the guide in the router. Hope this helps. Thanks
