    Very nice job mate. Your van build is also brilliant, like the use of furniture board and trim.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. We’ve just bought the aluminium from the same supplier and fitted the rack. The only hole needed was for cable entry, otherwise all removable or adaptable as needed. Just did 3 weeks in Spain with 100w panel running the fridge box, charging etc and all wild camps or free aires. Adding another panel now for uk weather! Thanks again, we need more people like you in the world to share their brilliant ideas!

      Hello, and thank you so much for your lovely message. I’m pleased that you found the video useful and feel sure that having this type of roof rack will prove very adaptable for future things that you might want to add eg..lights, security cameras, awning etc. I’ve just done 3 months in Europe, there are vids about it and the roof rack and extra solar panel I fitted were brill 😊 all the best and thanks again. Ian.

      Hi there, thanks for your comment, you should be able to get quite a big one on your roof and now that you got the 300AH Lithium battery it would be a good move 👍

      Hi Peter, they’re not easy to get hold of are they, I was originally thinking of getting some from Rhino until they told me the price, hope you’re sorted now. Cheers

    Hi mate, thanks for the vlog very very good. Funny enough I done something very similar. However I use the 3030 and by luck that just slid into the t nuts that are fixed on top of the roof. Once I had it into position I just drilled either side of the tea nuts and dropped in a M8 on all of them. It’s solid…

      I never thought of that 🤣 good idea, I got there in the end though, it’s a great addition to any van. All the best mate, cheers

      how did you make this clear the curve if the roof as mounting directly on the t nuts does not give you much height? Really interested to know as this is by far the easiest way. thanks in advance

      Hi, As shown in the video I didn’t mount direct to the T nuts, it is the other guy who put a message on who did, maybe you could ask him. Cheers

    Hi can you please just confirm that it was the 3030 section you used, I have a L2H2 and am pretty much copying you.
    Thanks for all your hardwork and sharing it with us.

    Nice approach. I was torn between 4040, and 3030, profile, though after seeing this I'll be going for 3030. Question, is your van an L3H2? And can you remember the dimensions used for both the length and width of your rack?
    I've worked out that my max width of solar panel will be 1500mm, though I'm unsure whether that will sit on top, or preferably, sit down in between the lengths so it's flush.
    Cheers, J.

      @onevanandhisdog3641  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Jim,
      Yes my van is L3H2 but I can’t remember what the dimensions were to be honest as I just cut it to suit at the time. My solar panel was 1260mm in length so yours will be another 240mm longer so doing it how I’ve done it then yours is not going to fit in between the bars unless you can build it in a way that the bars are further apart, ie developing a different bracket. Hope that helps Jim, cheers

    Where did yout buy the rubber trim inserts from? Really nice job on the roof rack👌

      Hi Soufyan, the inserts are from the same company that supplied all the alaminium rail etc, they are called KJN. Thanks 😊

    Hi, love this mate. Just starting to build my own rack with Unistrut. Just a thought, could you not have put the upright sections of your brackets on the outside? This, as i see it, would negate the need for the extra blocks and also hide the fixing bolts from view.

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641  Год назад +1

      Hi Robbie, I could have put the brackets the other way round and if I had put the rails on the inside then it wouldn’t have looked like wanted as the view of the rail would have been interrupted by the brackets and if I’d put the rail in the outside then it would have stuck out too far towards the side of the van, it’s all aesthetics and about how I wanted it to look more than anything. Hope that helps. Cheers 😊

    Just curious. Why the small box section in-between your angle and the long rails? Could you not bolt the rail to the angle with T bolts and do away with the box sections

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641  10 месяцев назад

      Hi, it was because one of the long rails was catching on the wifi receiver on the roof so I had to pack them out to make a bit of clearance. Thanks for watching.

    Brilliant idea, I’ve got the fiat Ducati lwb and I want to do the same. Would you have the kjn part no.for all the parts? I’ve gone on the website and finding it a bit difficult to find the exact parts you have.

      Hi there, the best thing to do is give them a call and they’ll help you get what you need. I agree that the site can be difficult to navigate so I called them up, no I don’t have any part numbers. All the best.

    Yes, the corner brackets are correct as long as the T nut which I think you used catches the inside of the aluminium slot. You’re good to go
