Germany druring December is my favorite place on earth. Nobody does Christmas towns quite like the Germans. If you can find on with curling, skating, beer and bratworst all in the same building, you’ve hit the jackpot.
Good idea to turn the fuel tap off and then let the genny run until the carb runs out of fuel and the genny stops. Doing this empties the carb of fuel. Carbs dont like to sit for long periods with fuel in them, as stale fuel can be bad for the carb components..
I am thankful that your gen is ready. My region was hit by a cyclone bomb yesterday, 600,000 people without power. This storm system also hit Canada and the rest of the US West Coast. There's snow too, but you can search for photos.
There are many fab things about your vlogs including all the DIY tips and how to fix stuff - especially if one moves to France and ends up in the middle of nowhere! Loads of snow here already back in blighty!
South-east Europe here and we just had first snow this year, and it was a proper one. Plenty of problems for drivers but luckily no power supply issues.
It’s great to be prepared! You can also keep a few garden solar lights outside and bring them in if power goes out at night, I just had to do that! That’s if you get any sun! 😬 I’m a prepper as well! Love Christmas 🎄 Markets, has to be cold with hot chocolate and a flask filled with “insert alcoholic beverage of choice” here! Yum! Thanks Brian! ☺️
Whilst you are wearing the winter wardrobe, we are scheduled to have 40 degrees where we are in Australia, 😅way too hot & yes we too have a generator for power outages ! Stay warm Brian & love your Vlogs, still only a few people watching.
Yup, I watch Dan every day that he posts since he was a gardener. Today i saw Brians come on my utobe feed.... here i am. I'll binge all the previous ones. Hi Brian! From Canada
It’s funny, in the UK I think anything more than a few hours away is a bit of a trek. When I lived in Germany I would happily jump in my car and head off on 4 to 8 hour drives! I lived up in NRW, so Frankfurt was a four hour drive away to visit family, which we did regularly. Austria was ten hours of driving away, which we would do over about 12 hours with stops, a trip we did at least once a year, regularly twice, and one year three times.
@ ain’t that the truth! I drove up to York recently, took the A1 up, M1 back (from Leicester.) both routes clogged with major roadworks. Then we had a trip to South Wales and the same thing happened. It is so tiring.
I think the whole world heard about the Big Texas Freeze a few years back. My hubby had bought a generator just a couple of weeks before. We were blessed. And we also have a wood burning stove that kept us warm.
Definitely a double thermal day🤣😍! Your videos cheer us up as we impatiently wait for power to get restored after a frightening bomb cyclone 😬yesterday… and the house continues to drop in temps 🤪
Another mini adventure? Yes please, I'm up for that. If it's a real Christmas market, I would like some hot roasted chestnuts as I haven't had any in years.
I love that the background music might place you in a posh retro cocktail lounge, dapperly attired, sipping a martini with a twist. But you're in your earthy workshop (I want one just like it) checking your generator. The many facets of Brian. Great fun!
It always amazes and amuses me when you guys across the pond talk about it being an 8-hour drive to a destination in another country. 😂😂 The capital of my state, Florida, is Tallahassee, and it's 7.5 hours from Tallahassee to Miami,FL. You can literally drive 8 hours in many of our states - Florida, Texas, California, to name but three - and still be in the same state. 😁
Believe me, I know we will start our generator every 6 months now after going thru Helene. We had just checked it out to make sure when she hit and we were 15 days without electricity. We have a spring for water and septic and far enough from our creek, that was a 100 ft river during the storm, to be safe except for electricity. Took 3 days for wifi and internet but otherwise we did shifts to get us thru once we could get gas to keep it running. Get back up gas!!! We have five 5gal cans now to be safe. Generators are great!!
The lower part of Germany to France is quite beautiful. Mini mtns lots of forests and small villages TREIRE TO BONN. BRIAN......HAVE U BEEN TO COLOGNE TO VISIT *GOTHIC CATHEDRAL **? WOW. MAGNIFCENT!!! A MUST DO...PLUS BRIAN....THERES A CHOCOLATE FACTORY. VERY CLOSE. BY CATHEDRAL!!!! GREAT GERMAN. CHOCOLATE!!!
Hey Brian, a word of wisdom from an elder follower.... Go see your friend in Germany . It's obvious your heart is leading you to go. Just buy a ticket on a flight and don't waste precious time trying to drive. I'm sure you won't regret it. I hope this advice can give you a little push. I agree it can be a hassle flying these days but you should have lots of possible flights from where you are.... Just Do It! 🤗 Paul
Brian good morning 😎 I truly love your easy going personality! I wish there were many more men like you life would be easier for all❤️ I think many of us find a day in your life is happy and light hearted from our stressed lives 🥰😎❤️
Morning Brian, yes I'm in for the Christmas market .... love those! Fortunately, we in the southern hemisphere are done with winter, thank goodness! I must say your Jenny is a keeper!🤣🤣
I have read that you shouldn't keep gasoline just sitting in a generator as it will gum up the carb. I saw the title and wondered if Jenny was a person or a donkey. lol
Have you thought of getting a good power station? They're much lower maintenance and much quieter than a generator; you could keep it topped up on good days or with your electric grid, and a good one would keep your fridge, lights, etc. going... just a thought!
😊I am happy that you will have more adventures . Germany sounds like fun, but an eight hour drive can be draining. I saw you at the chateau happy you didn't slip off the roof. Nice job getting the generator prepped. Sigh what fun a Christmas 🎄 village market . Oh that will be awesome .
I just subscribed!! Am truly enjoying your new channel. You’re such a laid back tell it as it is guy! Hope you trek over to Germany to see your friend! 👍
When I am trying to get my kids to be prepared and they start grumbling; I say it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Always best to be prepared for anything.
It’s freezing here 😳 new dusting of snow on the mountain and thunderstorms even thought we were heading into our summer 😂 Hopefully 🙏 you get to Germany soon to see Ben and he’s not injured or sick The generator is a brilliant idea I wish I had one 😊 Have you ever nearly fallen down in your pit 😂🤣🙌 Funny story I had a friend that did …We girls all went to a party ,walked in the front door then straight out the back door…cause it was soo boring …she somehow managed to go through the garage and splattered into the pit …she was as drunk as a skunk and didn’t even get hurt …it was funny at the time but yeah not good for Karen ..
Great video. Also a gas generator needs to be used safely with proper ventilation… but then I’m sure you’ll be on top of that if needed. Glad you’re staying warm. See you next time. ❤❤
Two AM & -36℃ w/windchill here... good news is it's warming up to -31 in a few hrs. OTD in 2013 it was -48.6... so it could be (and will get) colder. Our community has it's own generator, but it's getting hard to find parts for the ole guy. 🖖 may the longjohns be with you
It was brass monkey weather in Bangor North Wales yesterday. But we woke up to snow and the Snowdonian mountains were incredibly beautiful. Then we had thunder and lightning so that was fun and the rain poured down. 😊
"Only" 8 hours further from the German-French border is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Lübeck. And guess what, I happen to live nearby in a small castle on the Baltic Sea. For another adventure, you are very welcome here! 😉
I’m in Australia with two children in Brisbane and one in Melbourne, grandchildren in each city. I live roughly in the middle between the two cities. About 8 hours to Melbourne and 11 hours to Brisbane. However, Australians are used to these types of distances and drive them regularly. Good luck on your travels.
Funny you should have gotten your generator out today, as I am currently running mine. We're on the N.W. coast of the US and have been without power for almost 24 hours. Hopefully we'll be back online soon. Good to have the emergency power!
You're so funny... so the bottom half of you is English wearing thermal leggings and the top half of you is Irish wearing "termal" tshirt 😂☘ Brilliant. Great music 🎶 ... last night the power went off unexpectedly so out with the candles... there is something beautiful and serene about candle light. Wise words from your old rescue instructor. Really nice generator. Christmas markets are interesting and fun 🎉🎉🌲
You are one of the most genuine people on RUclips... That is rare. Best to you Brian.🙂
A Christmas Market?? Take me too please - I'll bring the coffee!!
🎄☕️
It’s so strange how you seem to have become a friend who I can have a one sided chat and a coffee with. What has my life become lol 🤗
Living in Canada traveling to my home province of nova Scotia takes 19 hours! Your lucky to have all those countries on your doorstep!
Kinda like going from 1 state to the next here in the US… still, I am a little jealous too!😊😢
Ooh love Christmas markets ❤
A Christmas market sounds amazing, I hope you bring us along Brian!
Better safe than sorry! Being well prepared makes easy sleeping.
Hi Brian. Time for a cup of coffee here. Time to start shutting down for the day. Have a great evening and stay warm. Love and blessings to all.❤❤
Good video Brian and we like you sharing what's going on in your life!
Germany druring December is my favorite place on earth. Nobody does Christmas towns quite like the Germans. If you can find on with curling, skating, beer and bratworst all in the same building, you’ve hit the jackpot.
It is nice to see different perspectives of the chateau! Great job on the roof!
Glad the generator worked
Thanks for the catch up. Stay warm 😊

Always a good plan to check out the winter emergency stuff, it saves a lot of anguish when their need arises.😊
I’d love to see some German Christmas Markets if you visit Ben. Hope Ben has better luck so you can visit.
Little Lotti is going to be needing a doggie sweater ♥️
There are many fab things about your vlogs including all the DIY tips and how to fix stuff - especially if one moves to France and ends up in the middle of nowhere! Loads of snow here already back in blighty!
We have a lot of tree branches that fall on power lines too so I should check my generator as well.
South-east Europe here and we just had first snow this year, and it was a proper one. Plenty of problems for drivers but luckily no power supply issues.

Roads are easier in Europe. UK is always clogged with road works, or just cars and lorries...
@ ain’t that the truth! I drove up to York recently, took the A1 up, M1 back (from Leicester.) both routes clogged with major roadworks. Then we had a trip to South Wales and the same thing happened. It is so tiring.
I am glad to See, that you also Drink coffee at the chateau ‼️☕️
What would Nick do without you finding his gloves...Yup, that time of year for long johns. Christmas market with spiced wine please!
You are always so funny! I'm trying to improve my english watching your videos, so thank you 😊
Love your Vlogs, beautiful countryside, & very entertaining, love your sense of humour.
Yes a Christmas Market in Rural France!!! That generator will do you if the weather gets bad this winter - good news
Yes to Christmas markets!
I think the whole world heard about the Big Texas Freeze a few years back. My hubby had bought a generator just a couple of weeks before. We were blessed. And we also have a wood burning stove that kept us warm.
Please take us to Germany, especially East Germany? You must go a week and show us the place. That will be so cool.
Good morning Brian! Thermal underwear here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to! Brrrrt...season is among us. Stay warm. Happy travels!
Yep cold here too. Also where my house in France is seemed to have a lot of power cuts not so much now though . Glad your generator working ok Brian
Great vlog, *also really enjoying the 1970’s sitcom theme music! Inspired choice!
I love his “do do do la la” while he’s working - I do the same.
your lifestyle is very appealing Brian.
Hello Brian! xx 🎉

I love the little things like "Termal" vs "Thermal" - it keeps a personal real and same
That H is a devil for Brian 😊
I know of a beautiful puppy who would love to cuddle and keep you warm!
Thanks Brian.
Looks cold. Sit by the fire and drink your coffee lol
Love me a Christmas Market Brian....snowing here. I think our nice weather has gone till next year now.
Today we had the first snow and frost, really beautiful 🌹😊🇩🇰
Thanks, Brian.

Lovely as always, see you next time!😊
Morning Brian, yes I'm in for the Christmas market .... love those! Fortunately, we in the southern hemisphere are done with winter, thank goodness! I must say your Jenny is a keeper!🤣🤣
It’s getting colder here in New England. We might be getting snow ⛄️ Not ready 😂😂😂😂😂Hope you take us along when you visit the Christmas markets 😍😘
I have read that you shouldn't keep gasoline just sitting in a generator as it will gum up the carb. I saw the title and wondered if Jenny was a person or a donkey. lol
Hard to believe you are having winter already. We going into summer, but it's crap as well. Great video.
✌️💛🙂 you looked so good I wondered if you’d had a filter on! Great stuff more of this!!!
Takes a day to get to your friend in Germany? That’s like taking a trip from Michigan to Florida…lots of warm at the end of that trip😎
Your friend is one day away? Is that all? Not three or four days away? He's almost in the same neighborhood as you.
Brian can you not take a hint,,, I'm Germany 😂
❤ you are just adorable, Brian.
Slange 😊
Hi Brian, your vlog is so great, thanks for being you!❤
Its a little nippy here on the upper gulf coast of Texas tonite, 38 to be exact. Bonfire weather !
Thermals good to keep your knees warm. Thanks for the reminder to check the generator. I have a new one to break in.
Have you thought of getting a good power station? They're much lower maintenance and much quieter than a generator; you could keep it topped up on good days or with your electric grid, and a good one would keep your fridge, lights, etc. going... just a thought!
Surprised he hasn't got an Ecoflow solar generator having seen how they have been powering the chateau since Dan started.
The video quality today was so crisp and sharp. Maybe it was the brighter, somewhat sunny day? It made me feel like I was in the car with you!
Hi Brian love your updates stay warm x

Good you have a back up plan here across the pond -- PNW, BC, Or & Ca getting bomb cyclone from Alaska!
Its always something
Linda Nichols-yep, lots of trees down-some casualties too unfortunately-here in Seattle area!! It was a strange storm going thru! 🥶
@ lived there for 15 yrs we had couple while there. Yes I still miss the rain/grey days but beautiful summers.
Germany sounds like an awesome adventure to go on. Ur braver than I to go that far by myself ❤
I wish you well in getting the pleasure of a visit with your friend in Germany .❤
It’s freezing here 😳 new dusting of snow on the mountain and thunderstorms even thought we were heading into our summer 😂

Hello from Ohio! I have enjoyed watching your videos! I would love to see a Christmas market!
I am in OH too.... Hudson.
Did you say a Christmas Market? Take us too please Brian, and the mulled wine. Have a great day.
No 17 degrees anymore, here in the Southwest of Ireland the winter arrived, snow forecast for tomorrow morning, not looking forward to that.
I know its suddenly turned freezing after so much mild weather. ❄️☃️
Qui, qui on Germany! & market please
Kinda like a "Maxwell Smart"vlog with the tunes TY
Great video.
Also a gas generator needs to be used safely with proper ventilation… but then I’m sure you’ll be on top of that if needed.
Glad you’re staying warm. See you next time. ❤❤
Big wiggly hello to ya Brian.😊
Ooohhh a Christmas market.... yes please.
Aahh, thermal undergarments, Such bliss! 😊
An eight hour of drive in Australia and you are still in the same State……….except Tasmania where you would be in the water
Nice shop
Great you have the thermal underwear for these cold days
Arrange to meet you mate halfway, then you can all have a nice weekend
