Monique is amazing! Been celebrating my mum’s 90th birthday with her today - she’s a bit of a firecracker too. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure.
Great day out exploring - felt those volcanoes bumps😅 Thank you for sharing your day with us - loved it ❤
Hi Brian. How close, on average, are the towns to each other in France? In Australia, we would drive at a minimum of 30- 60 mins between towns. Most are over 1 hour. It's a big country 😊
So happy for you and Monique! 🥰🥰.🇨🇦❤️
My Sunday went well working😊 but when you work for yourself everyday is a work day😊
How cool is that, Monique, grand lady. And your bike ride over that scenery was interesting. 🤗
👍❤
Thank you for sharing your adventures it was very nice of you to engage Monique on your wonderful adventurous day. l live on the central coast in California and yes l had a wonderful day thank you
Brian, you don’t pronounce the last letter at the end of Clermont-Ferrand neither Paris, Bordeaux, Mont-Blanc etc. Silent.🤫 Same with Chaumont. You don’t pronounce the t at the end. Do they still do paragliding at Puy-de-Dôme? When I was young my grandmother used to bring me at the top so I could watch the hippies do paragliding. My grandfather had a thermal cure there each summer. It was boring for me, I was a teenager.
Mining in the Puy de Dôme was actually very varied and - at one time - prolific. Here’s a short list of what they dug for: Coal Lead Silver Antimony Copper Gold Arsenic Tungsten Tin Manganese Fluoride and, yes, Uranium too. The only major ore not present there is iron.
Lovely to spend some time with you on a Sunday, Brian. Beautiful views from the volcano! Now I want an E-Bike. There are some wonderful trails near where I live in Washington state (U.S.) So happy you have a girl-friend now!🥰
Shhh Brian you are a stand up man! Love everything you did today and shared all of it with us. Sweet older lady and nice lunch too. Beautiful scenery. Wish I had the funds as I’d love living in France. ❤
You can be Monique’s trophy husband!
Have you found a bookcase for your mum yet Brian?
Such a lovely day
Way to go Brian. Thank you so much for going to the trouble of repositioning the camera. Really enjoy your VLOGS!!
Fun day! Thanks for taking us with you!
Is it extinct, the other type you were referring to?
I enjoyed your little side trip and keep up the great videos !
Monique was fabulous. Sounds really with it. Good for her. 💜 she is 13 years older than me.
Always a treat! ❤
😂😂😂😂 I am jealous . Gorgeous views!!! A beautiful city, great coffee ☕️ I ran out of coffee today I was ready to drink the screen😊. Lunch looked so delicious and the unexpected engagement to French Monique with dancing has me jealous😅. Thank you for taking us along I will be looking forward to the nuptials.
Brian .I thought you had a Yorkshire accent !
Great vlog as usual , and you know you actually don’t have to really take us anywhere we just love listening to your voice 😊but loved the bike ride anyway. 🤩
Hi Brian, change the sunglasses back you look to much like Dan🙉😂🤣😂
Sorry, going to butcher the names. A bit over 30 years ago, I went to the two places you visited today! Well, I didn’t have a bike, so I went up the volcano with the steps. Assuming it’s the same one, it’s really cool, if you get a chance to go sometime (preferably without crowds - I was almost alone in October, but maybe you saw a tour bus full of people, bad timing). Basically, part way up, all that’s left is the solid rock core of the volcano. And the steps are there because there’s a little chapel on top and it’s a pilgrimage stop on the way to some other pilgrimage destination. The little chapel is really old, and the carved faces made me laugh, plus I do love a volcano. That one’s extinct (the third type). As far as they can tell, it’ll never erupt again. Volcanologists are generally cautious, so they’re generally pretty positive if they declare it’s extinct. Dormant is like dormir - it could wake up, or it could go extinct, but the time frame is unknown. I also went to Montferat; I can’t remember exactly why, probably partly because I could get a cheap hotel and it was close to Puy de Dome. But what I remember most about the city was the bakery I went to. It had a wood fired oven (why bother going to one that doesn’t 😉) and was near the train station. I spent two weeks in France on that trip, and another week or so on an earlier trip, and it was seriously the best pastry and best baguette I had in the whole country. Of course, things change, and 30+ years is a long time. But if you’re there again and there’s still a bakery with a wood fired oven a block or two from the train station, pop in and pick up a couple things (be sure to include a baguette). And let me know whether it’s still amazing. 😁 Magma vs. lava vs. igneous rocks. I didn’t know the difference between lava and magma either, pre-pandemic. But then an eruption occurred in Iceland and there were live-streaming cameras, etc., and I got hooked. 😉 Magma is when it’s underground… a way to remember is “it’s not been born yet, so it’s still in Mother Earth.” Lava is when it’s up on the surface. “Lava” is generally used for when it’s still liquid (or sludgy liquid)… still able to move, or at least still hot. So, when you look down into a volcano caldera, is it lava or magma? It’s not inside, but it’s not outside… either term is fine, as far as I can tell (though I’m not an expert, just a volcano fan). Once it has cooled and it’s possible to quarry the stone, it’s apparently no longer lava (though some people will use the term “lava rocks”). It’s some sort of igneous rock (though you can’t actually ignite it, but a good way to remember it 😉). What type depends on the chemical makeup, how it cooled, etc. It could be basalt, pumice, or any of a number of types of rock formed by volcanoes. And then there’s rocks that can be formed from ash layers. 🙂
You take us on the very best days out. My very first volcano! Thanks x
What a great vlog, Brian. You always make me smile. Love the look you gave us in the antique shop you were in. 🙄
Great music!
Sorry for correcting you. Strombooooli is wrong. The stress is on the first sylable: [ˈstʁomboli]
What an enjoyable Sunday. Thank you for including us.
that was a fun vlog. thanks for taking us along. see ya next time.
Loved my visit to Stromboli. Did a day trip in a hydrofoil from Pizzo and got to see the volcano erupting at night with the lava flowing down the mountain and into the sea. It was an amazing awesome sight! And yes there were volcanic bolders rolling down too....😮 Great vlog by the way and yes Brian you are a terrible tease too! ....😘
Brian, I live in Greenville, South Carolina, the US home of Michelin Tires. Many French come over with the company and live in our area.
You do take us along on some great adventures, Brian, all while continuing to make friends wherever you are! Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous views. Amazon clappers. 😅 What a day and found your girlfriend. Love meetings like that. Yes life is an adventure. Great vlog. Humour in abundance 😊
I love zucchini!😊
Such a lovely video Thank you for the tour.
What do they call eggplant.
what a treasure!
Nice music
I am a man of the world, or at least I watch too much YT from France so I knew what that silly fruit is. Isn't stromboli an Italian food thingy. The only 2 wheeled bike I ride has a 750cc engine. Just remember volcanoes only sleep. She will probably out dance you.
Fab. BUT FerrAND
Line dancing? Dan said something about you and dancing!!
Greetings from Co Kildare Brian. Lovin your no nonsense vlogs and especially lovin the music. Isn’t the Puy De Dome a stage in the Tour De France every now and then? A tough stage. Your new girlfriend Monique is great, sorted now!
I love your relaxed attitude towards each day…. Enjoy!!
What a wonderful adventure. Love your videos, always so easy going, even when you’re swinging off the top of chateau on a cold, windy day.
Fantastic day!!
You go man, do as much as you can at your age.
Monique looks like a star ⭐️ and a dancer too wow! Cheers for more delightful lunches in France👋🎶
