The Breaker is a masterpiece, and we waited for so many years for season 3. There was a collective dread for the whole fanbase, when the author tried to force-feed us a new character as a pseudo MC to introduce the new readers to the series. Thankfully, that character has been turned into a rarely seen side character (thank the universe). It took tens of chapters for the author to do it, but he made the right choice.
I agree that the new pseudo MC felt out of place! I was hoping for a nice tournament arc early on in Eternal Force but that doesn't appear to be happening.
I was watching another video of yours and i was going to tell you if you could talk about manhwa too, is weird to see someone talking about The Breaker, nice
Is weird to see someone to see the name of Gomunryong lmao and another i understand that the name of the mc is pronounce 'Si un' thanks to webtoon, sorry for the bad english
@@PlainTalkNoBScool. In the meanwhile can you please reupload your first game review on a short hike. It was really informative and funny. I really missed it when it was deleted.
If you like martial arts mangá (and Manhwa) you will probably really love Guard pass, its a manhwa that takes its story more serious and i think its targeted to adult audience. Its done in the webtoon style só its pretty different but very good, please check it out.
What I love about this manga is ton of nods to other famous martial arts and school manga. -Its clear that Shi-woon story is nod to Strongest Disciple Kenichi. As innocent, bullied boy starts practise martial arts among many badass but crazy martial arts masters. - Han Chun-Woo is such a obvious nod to Great Teacher Onizuka that its almost like parody xD They even adapted scene where he rescues protagonist from suicide while destroying vice-principal car xD Same with many other stereotypes - sexy school nurse - ignorant female lead, who has good intentions, but her ignorance does more harm than good - loli with mysterious powers While following many nods and stereotypes it can brilliantly subvert them. As Shi-woon eventually realises how dangerous Han Chun-Woo truly is and then they become sworn enemies. I have never seen series like that. Taking so much time on developing master-student relationship only to change it 180 degrees :o
That's an interesting way to view The Breaker. I have slight different interpretations of your data points but reach a similar conclusion. I complete agree with the abundance of tropes but would also include "weak boy getting bullied" and "martial arts teacher takes boy under the wing" as tropes in martial arts in general. Both tropes can be seen in Karate Kid, dating back to 1984. But I completely agree that The Breaker uses the tropes in a pretty interesting way. By having the teacher not be a hero, everything gets so twisted and captivating.
@@PlainTalkNoBS True :o Karate kid could be first. Unless we count Fist of The North Star xD as Kenshiro become Bat master later, The one more manga that series reminded me off was AIR GEAR. I know that thema is different, but there is something in style. Maybe its because like in OH GREAT we have beautiful detailed art style but with urban style. Same with lots of symbolic panels
In the first part The 9 arts dragon never was a villain, i mean he did something bad to the alliance, but you know the reason behind his acts in the part 1 and the things that he does to his enemies in that part isnt any worse to what other murin warriors do
The 9 Arts Dragon works for the Kaiser, who is clearly the main villain in the series. While the 9 Arts Dragon has reasons for his actions, that doesn't mean he isn't a villain.
Great video. Although I have to say The Breaker has a very big speedbump to it being enjoyable and that's the main character Shinwoon, he's weak minded, has no spine and lacks self preservation instincts and just when you think he's grown out of it he regresses completely. By the sequel he needed to be protected bcause of his damaged Dantian making the issue much worse. In short The Breaker is just worse Holyland.
After waiting for years and years for a continuation of The Breaker: New Waves. All I can say it was worth the wait. And another wasted manhwa was Veritas.
I actually prefer Han Chunwoo than Lee Shinwoon. Lee Shinwoon exemplifies the generic shonen main character like Izuku Midoriya, Asta, and just the trope of the golden retriever good guy character. In moments where he should be minding his own business, fighting at his best, or running away he chooses to stay or hold back his strength. I can’t understand that, he’s not suited for the world he was introduced into and it stays that way throughout the whole manwha and yet he tries to change everything and everybody even though he understands nothing of why that world is like that and how those things are necessary.
The Breaker is definitely Han Chunwoo's story. Lee Shinwoon shines in the later parts (new waves and eternal force). However, it's Han Chunwoo that turns The Breaker into a masterpiece. He's such an incredible character.

I think it's wiser to treat Han Chunwoo is the main character instead of Shinwoon. From that perspective, I consider it a masterpiece.
