DIY Off-Road Overland Trailer Build | Part 3 Bedrack

- This is part 3 of the DIY Off-Road Overland Trailer build project, also known as HICKS. We are restoring this Bantam Trailer and converting it from an old dirt hauler to an Off-Road Overland Trailer. In the episode we attempt to install the bedrack, but to do so we first have to fabricate square edges for the tub of the trailer, which was manufactured with round edges. Once we get that fabrication complete, we put the rack together and fit it to the tub. HICKS take one more big step toward a new life as an Overland Trailer!

Sometimes a project just needs a little encouragement 😂. Can't wait to get those molly panels on and start the electrical work!! For more V2R Vids click here: ruclips.net/user/venture2roam
Can't wait for the next episode on this bad boy!
Thank you!! Next episode should post in two weeks!
That’s crazy. I did almost did the same thing. I used 3x4 angle iron and a 4” flat bar on top. The 4” set on top of the 3” part of the angle which gave me a 1” overhang for the top round over part of the trailer. There was pipe welded in each corner which I threaded to bolt down everything. I put a small side tool box on the passenger side of the trailer and a rack system somewhat like yours. My trailer is a 52 M-100. Going to watch the other videos you made to get ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like I should be watching your vids to get ideas!
Can’t wait to put the finishing touches on Hicks!
Me too. It’s looking soooo good!
Hicks is coming along as an overland trailer
We’re getting there! Really been enjoying this project.
Inspired to check out more on your channel- thanks for this post!
Didn’t see this comment until now. Thank you so much fir checking us out. Hope you enjoy the content!!!
Love the color and I'm really enjoying this series. Makes me want to find a deal on an old M416 or something and start a build, :D.
You should totally do it! We've had so much fun with this project. We're so close to being finished!
Love your videos question wondering where you got the Aluminum rack in your overland trailer and wondering if you have link for it
I'm building a similar project and have been influenced by your trailer of course
Thx soooo much
Which rack did you order from Amazon? It looks like a truck bed rack form the box cover? Thanks for the help!
Hi Doug - Here's the link to the rack we ordered on Amazon. I think we paid a little less because we go the non-painted option, which for us was great since we wanted to put a custom color on it anyway: amzn.to/3Aeul45
@@Venture2Roam Hey thanks! After installing the angle iron, did you have any issues with the clamp ? The clamps on all of the racks seem to have very little openings for a 2" angle? Sorry for the questions, I'm planning on doing a similar set up with a utility trailer.
@@dougsteele8624 love the questions, keep them coming!! We had no issues with getting the clamps over the angle iron. They fit easily and were super simple to secure. We took the trailer with us on an off-road trip to Hell’s Canyon to shake it down, and it was rock solid. Vid link here: ruclips.net/video/jvszlPWhLCk/видео.html
@@Venture2Roam Appreciate the feedback. That trip looked absolutely epic! I'll be in Idaho next week but for a 500 mile mountain bike trip. Is there such a thing as bike overlanding. LOL.. Take care!
@@dougsteele8624 Have an awesome trip!!
