Question: Is there a specific name for that pulley (transmission/alternator pulley)? Or is it just the pulley next to the alternator? My 16 civic Ex makes a very similar whining noise. I was told by 3 (2 being shops that ONLY do transmission) auto shops. Who stated it was my transmission pulley (or something to that effect). To replace the entire transmission. vs. just replacing the pulley only. Priced both items, and the refurbished transmission was HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper. Please, I could really use some advice. Thanks

remove the belt and if the noise is gone the problem will be the tensioner

it could be starting the only way to know for sure is to remove the belt and check all pulleys

What pulleyes are being driven by the accessories belt? Alternator, power steering, belt tensioner? Anything else that I'm missing? My screams when I turn the wheel left or right. Not sure if it's just power steering pump.
