Hello Ruth. My name is Patrick and I have been enamored with your Scottish exploration. I too spent time at n Japan, 6 years with the US Navy. I have distant roots in the McPherson line. Thank you for sharing your joy. 😊
Leaving your Starlink with strangers reminded me how wonderful the Scots really are. I was in Edinburgh for the Fringe and Tattoo and had 2 events that showcased Scottish honesty. 1, I left my wallet in a taxi and when I called the company, the driver had it and brought it to me, intact. 2, I was queued for an ATM, and dropped my wallet. The girls behind me tapped me on the shoulder and handed it to me. Really heartwarming. I can't wait to get back. 💙💙

Just a word of warning. I've been up those Tayside Glens from Kirriemuir (JM Barrie) and you _do not_ want to go their in high summer! A hideous stream of bumper-to-bumper traffic upways and down. Sometimes there are limits to numbers of cars allowed through but nevertheless, it can be pretty unpleasant. Fortunately, a very short season and for eleven months of the year they are perfect realms of tranquillity and solitude.

You are a gem Ruth to help those people and lend them your Star-Link! Very Scottish of you! I have had several people offer me help when visiting Scotland, as I often stop my car to view wildlife or take photos. I had tradesman in the highlands ask if I needed help and he then let me into a fenced off construction area to see deer. Elsewhere, I had a farmer stop to ask me if my car was alright when I stopped to take a photo of a sunset. The best was when I stopped to help a deer tangled up in a fence, and a man in a business suit stopped to help and even got his shoes muddy! What a wonderful sense of humanity in Scotland! LOVELY GLEN VIDEO RUTH!

Hello Louise, it's great to hear you've had a good week! Edinburgh is a really beautiful city, did you have a nice time there when you visited? I hope you enjoy this video down the glen!
That's why I really want to visit Scotland! The Scots are very friendly. Congratulations on taking the initiative to help. Beautiful valley, great video 👏👏🥰🇧🇷
I'm from LYON in France and I complement you on the pronunciation of our beautiful city LEEONN and not LIEONN. Merci ma chère Ruth. Scotland is wonderful and you make it more so with your enthusiasm and excellent film production. Good on you Ruth!
We are visiting Scotland in our van, up from Cornwall for the whole of september. We actually went to the Yew tree today. Its 5000 years old, not 3000. Thanks for all the info, we didn't know about Glen Lyon :0)
What a lovely person you are Ruth. Thanks for sharing your trip down the glen. I once went to the power station you passed with a 26 ton 6 wheeler lorry. Didn't go all the way to the end but I'm inspired to take our motorhome down some time. Keep safe and thank you.
I am moving up to Scotland at the end of the month - right up on the North Coast. I will settle in over the winter and then my adventure begins! Your trips are wonderful - I am so looking forward to this.
My second podcast viewed and I must say your natural charm compliments the exciting journeys, well done young lady you are now added to my podcast viewing!
Glen Lyon is possibly my favourite glen. It's a hidden Glen. From Fortingall the road forces it's way past the guardian mountains, then opens up in to a lovely fertile valley. I was there 3 weeks ago and I'm currently wearing my Glen Lyon Tea room T-shirt. I won't say where in the Glen I saw this, but I watched an osprey fishing in the river. From Bridge of Balgie, there's a side road that leads over a pass between the Ptarmigan ridge and Ben Lawers, it's a spectacular road and passes a very photogenic series of waterfalls, with a new path making access easier. Thank you for rescuing the stranded travellers. Last week one of my fuel injectors failed and I was stranded on the side of Loch Awe While you're in Aberfeldy you should go up the Birks, especially in Autumn for the tree colours, at the head of the walk is one of the UK's best waterfalls, further along Loch Tay, at Acharn, is another spectacular waterfall.
The Black Watch is still going, as "the Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS)", currently based at Fort George up near Inverness. What they think about sharing their accomodation with the Regimental Museums of the Queen's Own Highlanders and the Lovat Scouts is not officially recorded.
Had to laugh when you mentioned famous Glens in Scotland. I immediately thought of my favorite Glens...Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, and Glenmorangie. Beautiful area of Scotland. I've been to Prestwick and Holy Loch. Would love to go to Scotland again. Stay safe.
Scotland is so much more welcoming to touring vans than is England. All too often south of the border we find height restrictions on carparks but in Scotland we come across wonderful pull-ins like you showed in Aberfeldy. Its always so welcoming in Scotland. I agree with you about the terrible summer - it was much the same in Cumbria, just over the border so it's good to see you taking advantage of the better weather. I did walk the Glen Lyon Horseshoe and bagged all 4 Munroes, but that was 40 years ago and I think it would be enough to look at them from the road now ! When you pulled in to the layby , the furthest of the two hills was indeed a Monroe, Meall Ghaordaidh , those remote mountains were some of my favourites to climb, so thank you very much for reminding me of great days in the hills. Your reaction to those in difficulty on the road was so good. It's what I have always found in those kinds of places, people will go out of their way to help. It was a very nice thing to do.
Hi Ruth, I am a subscriber and still serving in the Army. The Black Watch (BW) still exists and they're currently at Fort George in Inverness. I joined the BW back in 1994 but I have since transferred to a different element of the Army. Thanks for the videos 🫡
Am so glad you mentioned the Cailleach! I love Her stories and wildness. We have thatched cottages all over Dorset where I live, not so common in Scotland though I imagine. 🙂
WOW, Scotland is absolutely beautiful! 🤩 We are so glad that Kaylin has helped you to stay on track while traveling in your van! Accountability is everything! Thank you for sharing your fitness journey with trainwell so far 😊
Another great video .....I met Ruth a few days ago on The Isle of Islay...it was lovely to meet you you are friendly in person as you are in your videos
I went to uni in Stirling and did so many random drives out for miles with friends. We saw signs for Aberfeldy so many times, but never went there. Wish we had now! Beautiful part of the world. And you really were a guardian angel to those stranded people. The stress they must have been under. And to be able to help people like that really makes life worthwhile. Well done 😊
@@ruthaisling I've got a wife and 2 children now, none of whom have ever been to Scotland. They've missed out! One day we'll make it back 😊. Love your videos, and I went onto your website. I saw that you have an interest in eco-living and tiny homes. If you ever watch videos on RUclips yourself, can I recommend taking a look at Tiny Cabin Life (if you're not already aware of it..)? This channel has a similar 'vibe' to yours, and I've found it so relaxing and interesting. Sure you'd love it. Thanks for showing me where I'm going to be dragging my I-pad addicted children to in the future also 😂
I love your videos and the way you give so much history and beautiful footage of the Scottish countryside. Makes a person want to go there and experience it. Thank you.
What a wonderful trip. I loved the munros, the two sheep running in front of your van, and God bless you for helping those folks. Car problems are a miserable thing. Enjoyed watching this.
Your fantastic camera work, commentary with historical information, provides a wonderful showcase for breathtaking scenery, places and facilities in stunning Scotland. The weather was beautiful on your trip. It looked so green (well watered from the wet summer), your drone footage is amazing. It’s great you have a van you are happy and comfortable with, that suits your needs. It was a beautiful drive, with that stunningly beautiful scenery. So lovely you were able to help those people who had broken down and you had the equipment to be able to summon help. Well Done Ruth Lovely Vlog and Thank You for Sharing
Every time I glance over to the memorabilia (from distilleries) I purchased from your beautiful country, not enough I am coming back. Your videos is making it more tempting. I need to visit Islay, Glenfarclas, Glenturret, Orkney . Been there but need to visit SPACA
Thank you for bringing my family’s heritage to life. We live in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I visited England and Scotland when I was 14…61 now lol. Being 67% Scottish and 33% Irish, we enjoy and cherish all aspects of our Celtic family history. Thanks again for your breathtaking images, videos and your beautiful voice bringing it all to life 🙌❤️🇨🇦🏴🇮🇪
Thanks for the tour of a Glen that was on my list for a visit with me electric mountain bike but as the summer was so poor I never got the chance. Definitely a trip for next year.
I live quite near Glen Lyon. I've driven to the end of the glen a while ago. I must pay it and Aberfeldy another visit. These people were very lucky to have met you!
thanks for another calming video ruth. I've lived in scotland for the past 20 years and as such, take it a bit for granted. you're making me see the beauty in it more, so i really appreciate your videos. ❤
Lovely video Ruth, Glen Lyon is a very picturesque place and a big hats off to you for going above and beyond by entrusting your starlink equipment with those unlucky travellers....though they were very lucky you happened along the same track when you did. Great to see kindness like that! 👏👏
Hello Ruth. You can actually continue past the power station and you arrive very close to the village of Killin. What a great gesture to help the stranded people and leave them with your Starlink kit. They must have thought their guardian angel had arrived. I love your videos.
Lovely video Ruth. After watching your vlogs I feel like visiting Scotland (from Australia) and looking up my ancestors (on my paternal mother's side). It was very generous of you to lend your Starlink gear to that couple.
Great video - I didn't know about this glen before your film. Well done for helping the stranded family - you are obviously a good as well as talented person.
Bless you Ruth for helping others in time of need, your one in a million, kind and thoughtful. Love your videos, great viewing somewhere different. xx 🙏💜💚💚
Hi Ruth, it is interesting to watch your travel videos exploring new destinations that not many have done. Your simple language and crystal clear tone made it easier for non-native speakers like myself to grasp and understand. I reckons that Scotland should engage you as one of the tourism ambassador. Your kind generosity have indeed saved fellow travellers from the nightmare of broken down vehicle. Be safe always.
Hi Ruth, I think you may have stumbled across a 2nd channel to do. Called “Ruth to the Rescue” 🤣 in each episode you can found traveling around Scotland in Ernie helping people out. 😂 Think of the merchandise possibilities 🤣 a figurine of yourself in your cream hat red jacket (obv’s),model camper van of Ernie, starlink toy, water bottle etc. And then at the end of each episode you can be seen celebrating with a wee dram. 🤣🤣 Glen Lyon looks stunning in places and you’re video makes me want to travel the whole Glen as I’ve only ever been around the start of it,as long as it’s not on a Wednesday as I would need to stop for coffee and cake at the tea-room. 😊. Enjoy your week! 😊x
I have not yet watched the video, so sorry if my remark is premature! We visited Aberfeldy years ago and went to the old mill near the river. They made the most delicious oat cakes but we were traveling and only got to eat them about 50 miles away - too far to go back for, given our schedule. Only a short time later (a month or so), the mill had closed and become a bookshop witha mill as history. No more oat cakes! Darn!!!
In memory of your ancestor George, I'm ex forces, and visit a gentleman who is an ex RSM of the Black Watch, he was born 9 years after your relative passed, in 1927, he'll be 98 in January.
Ruth -- would love to see an updated tour/status of your camper van -- maybe late in the year when the weather isn't so great for trips. Would be interested in any maintenance issues that you have encountered -- it was great that you had shared about the side-door issue and the rust that you worked on. My (in-progress) 'non-invasive' conversion of my 2006 Toyota Sienna CE (base model in the US -- looks like this style was not sold in the UK) has me a little concerned about items that won't age too well (undercoating, rust-proofing). But I really like your DIY convenience additions in your van -- so I'd love to see an update!!! Cheers!
I had to laugh at my self. When you said you left the stranded folks a thousand pounds of equipment, I was thinking, "I'm surprised that equipment weighs so much." It occurred to me later, you were referring to 1,000 pounds Stirling. Good on Ya for helping these folks! Great video! Cheers.
That was such a kind thing to do trusting those folk with your Starlink but what a hole you got them out of… wonder how far it would have been to the nearest house to call for help. Beautiful journey Ruth ❤
Well Ruth you have one of the best days this summer, how good is that, great scenery as well. We often go to Killin then along through Aberfeldy and on to Pitlochry. Last trip we headed up to Loch Tummel and on to the North. Clearly we missed Glen Lyon, so close ech! Lovely video and well done assisting the folks broken down. Without your assistance they would have been stuck for a while, overnight for sure!! 10/10👍👍Cheers Mike🥃🥃
Great video Ruth and fantastic area to explore as well, I am more than certain I have cycled parts of that route when I cycled from Pitlochry back to Fife. Till next time Ruth stay safe and safe travels.🏴❤️
What a beautiful, quiet part of Alba. Not only a documentary but also a recovery unit. I'd love to see an upgrade of the van. Yet another great video; you never cease to amaze!!
Hi Ruth. I finally made it to the UK from Tasmania. Sadly running around the country catching up with family and friends I have not made it to Scotland. 3 weeks nowhere near enough time to do it all. Will have to plan a longer return trip and start with Scotland. Your vids are such a pull for me. Keep up the good work.
Ruth you have such a beautiful heart and record beautiful sceneries from your home country. I enjoyed a lot and appreciated you share with all of us. I've been watching too many irresponsible Karen and horrible police cam in US where people are just selfish, arrogant, ignorant and rude. I really feel depressed after watching all those messes. But thank you for your beautiful video that make me believe in people again, and will go out to help more if I can. and for sure, please have another van tour! :)
9/10/2024 Excellent video here at 'Ruth Aisling' (not a typo!!!). Now I know that Glen means valley!!! Thanks for helping those stranded in that broken down car. I wonder what was wrong with their car? About whiskey: please see the official website of David Blume, author and film maker of 'Alcohol Can Be a Gas!' About how to make your own camper stove fuel and auto fuel after you have an expert make the proper adjustments first. Cattails grown in ponds in order to recycle grey water are probably the cheapest and most efficient plant to use for making your own fuel! But many plants can be used to make your own fuel! For nice people only: please type a friendly hello at the comments section of 'My Basic Journey'. Chantell (not a typo!!! but pronounced 'Shantell' (not a typo!!!) has similar videos of remote travels in her minivan, with her tiny dog Joey. Right now she is traveling near lake Huron. She is grieving the recent loss of her father. He taught her to love remote camping. She took a photography class and is able to make videos similar to the early Jane Goodall films. She can't drink alcohol, etc. because she is a recovering alcoholic starting at about age twelve. That is why it is so important to offer a cup or big can of tea (like Arizona) to every party guest so that they don't feel like the only one not drinking alcohol, etc., especially at high stress office parties when there is a lot of peer pressure to drink alcohol. The same goes for any event on a college campus, or any pub, any bar. This would probably really cut down on drunk driving deaths or injuries. Trainwell (not a typo!!!) looks like it would be great for Olympic bound athletes, way too difficult for me. Maybe they could teach something slow like 'Tie chee' (I don't know how it is spelled!!!) slow motion ballet for old people. G'Day
Thanks for the videos that show the local areas of some of our Ancestors. Some of them may have come from this Glen. The Ancestors came from nearly every part of Scotland and from several Clans. We were told years ago to always remember, " the Ancestors are Scots, not Scotch ". Some people here do not know the difference, so we very gently inform. After all, what do they know of Scotland.
Recently I was in the hospital and needed help with so many things. Then when I got home ( it was at night), I met a young man that was stranded at the train station. I was able to help him.
Ohhh I didn’t know this! Former Army wife here. Thanks for this info. X
Thank you for sharing about this! I was wondering!
Missing you, Ruth. Hope you are well & we are waiting for more videos. Love your channel!!! 🤗❤️
Working on it! Coming soon…
@@ruthaisling ok, take your time!! Just mainly checking up on you!!
Love from USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That is beautiful Ruth.
Also so kind of you to help them out.
True Scottish hospitality ❤❤🎉🎉
Thanks Sean!
Yes please to another "van tour"! We are looking to buy a camper van in the near future and all your hints and tips are really useful!
Trainwell has been amazing, I’m loving it! ❤️
Another great video .....I met Ruth a few days ago on The Isle of Islay...it was lovely to meet you you are friendly in person as you are in your videos
Great video, love the Scottish place names!
Well done 😊
Thank you 🙏 you need to go back and visit Aberfeldy sometime!
Thanks for showing me where I'm going to be dragging my I-pad addicted children to in the future also 😂
That is a beautiful place and your are truly great for these standard motorists. Great video friend Ruth 💓 ☀️👍
Hi, Ruth. Brillliant video, as always. Fair play to you, as well, for helping those stranded motorists.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏
Lovely looking Thumbnail there Ruth,
And Big Congratulations over 112K,Nice one,
Excellent upload as always 👍
Thank you so much 😀
I love your videos and the way you give so much history and beautiful footage of the Scottish countryside. Makes a person want to go there and experience it. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
What a wonderful trip. I loved the munros, the two sheep running in front of your van, and God bless you for helping those folks. Car problems are a miserable thing. Enjoyed watching this.
With all the walking & travelling, you always look amazing.
Great adventures and scenery!
Definitely green and well watered this year!!
The weather was so awful this year, hopefully better luck next year!
I live quite near Glen Lyon. I've driven to the end of the glen a while ago. I must pay it and Aberfeldy another visit. These people were very lucky to have met you!
Such a beautiful area 😍
Thank you Ruth. I always enjoy your journeys. Scotland is so incredible. Take care and be safe.
Ruthie! Super girl! Helping those people. Wow, talk about an awesome Glenn! Thanks for taking me along!
Thanks so much Bert!
The most beautiful place i 've seen in the UK so far, marvelous!
It is beautiful 😍
Very nice of u to help them out ❤
Thanks for this. It is great to see the home glen of my 4 times Great Grandmother Katherine MacNaughton of Moar.
Very interesting, w.
Hallo Ruth
The whisky Dewar is one of my preferities.
Good video as ever:
So long and one 🌹for you.
Tony
thanks for another calming video ruth. I've lived in scotland for the past 20 years and as such, take it a bit for granted. you're making me see the beauty in it more, so i really appreciate your videos. ❤
Thank you so much! There are so many lovely places! 😍
Lovely video Ruth, Glen Lyon is a very picturesque place and a big hats off to you for going above and beyond by entrusting your starlink equipment with those unlucky travellers....though they were very lucky you happened along the same track when you did. Great to see kindness like that! 👏👏
Yeah it was so lucky! 🍀
Hello Ruth. You can actually continue past the power station and you arrive very close to the village of Killin. What a great gesture to help the stranded people and leave them with your Starlink kit. They must have thought their guardian angel had arrived. I love your videos.
Oh that is really great to know. I did see a road with the drone, is it suitable to do on with a van like mine?
Killin is a lovely village. It has very rocky rapids running right through it and after wet weather the water really thunders through.
Glad you enjoyed it!
There you showed your love when you helped those who were stuck on the road.
It is so beautiful to see.
The valley is also beautiful.
Bless you Ruth for helping others in time of need, your one in a million, kind and thoughtful. Love your videos, great viewing somewhere different. xx 🙏💜💚💚
Thanks Patricia, I’m sure they would have done the same for me!
Scotland is amazing!! Thank you for sharing 👍👋
Thanks for watching this video!
Glen Lyon looks stunning in places and you’re video makes me want to travel the whole Glen as I’ve only ever been around the start of it,as long as it’s not on a Wednesday as I would need to stop for coffee and cake at the tea-room. 😊.
Enjoy your week! 😊x
Haha thank you 😊
I have not yet watched the video, so sorry if my remark is premature!
Ruth You are an angel The world would be a better place with more like you. I love Scotland myself and seeing it through your eyes is a priviledge
Wonderful video. Beautiful scenery. Very informative. You’re a doll for helping others.
I would enjoy another van tour for sure.
Breakfast: Whisky
Lunch:Whisky
Dinner:Steak & Whisky
That sounds like a funny day
@@ruthaisling OK. Full English breakfast and Whisky. And they are all different whisky's over the day.
I can't believe Ruth said it was too early for the distillery 😂😂
@@itsmephil2255 Never too early. First in line when the doors open.🤣
@@windemup5316 absolutely 😂
Cheers!
Great video again Ruth, thank you and well done you for being so trusting and helpful, not many people these days would do that, you are a star😊
Thank you 😊
I had to laugh at my self. When you said you left the stranded folks a thousand pounds of equipment, I was thinking, "I'm surprised that equipment weighs so much." It occurred to me later, you were referring to 1,000 pounds Stirling. Good on Ya for helping these folks! Great video! Cheers.
Haha oops I should have mentioned I meant the value!
Thanks Mike 👍
Thank God you were there for the people who broke down 😊 Thanks for a great show today 💝
It was lucky timing! ⏱️
Great video Ruth and fantastic area to explore as well, I am more than certain I have cycled parts of that route when I cycled from Pitlochry back to Fife.
Till next time Ruth stay safe and safe travels.🏴❤️
I always enjoy your trips. I may not be able to be there in person but you help me feel like I am there.
That was so thoughtful of you and kind of you to help the stranded travelers. Ruth may you have a blessed week ahead.
What a beautiful, quiet part of Alba. Not only a documentary but also a recovery unit. I'd love to see an upgrade of the van. Yet another great video; you never cease to amaze!!
Haha! I’ll try and film one over the next few months!
You have to plan a longer trip soon!
I will book again for early next year. This time I will start with Scotland. Everything else can fit around it.
Thank you 🙏
A beautiful landscape and countryside!
It really is!
G'Day
Beautiful scenery thank you for sharing...
Very enjoyable as always, great filming of the pilot coming aboard coming into Cherbourg
Thanks for another beautiful and interesting episode.
That glen is amazing.
Happy Camping!
Glad you enjoyed it!
