I'm also very happy that you mentioned Masataka Taketsuru in this video because I love to drink NIKKA whisky. I look forward to seeing more videos from you in the future!!
Hi Ruth: I read through some of the comments. A few are like short novels. People are getting excited about this video, and I understand why. You so have a flare for telling a story and keeping everyones attention. Needless to say, your tasting with the Dram glasses is my favorite part. It is a joy to see you so satisfied. You're amazing. Please remain safe.
Campbeltown is a place very close to my heart. The first time I visited Scotland was on a Tarbert fishing boat which sailed across to Ballycastle (Norn Iron) to pick up our family and bring us there. I was 11 yrs old. It was 1962. My Dad was a BBC soccer commentator in NI and he was a big pal of his opposite number in Scotland and he originally hailed from the west coast where of course he knew everybody. Whisky would have had a part to play. Anyway, the crossing of the North Channel was dire, we were all as sick as parrots, we were pleased to enter Campbeltown Loch where thankfully the sea became a millpond. I have been back several times since then and have toured Springbank twice. The Ardshiel Hotel needs a mention, spectacular bar with unbelievable display of Scotch Whisky, also Golf at Machrihanish which is great, stunning views across to Islay and Jura. Love that place and loved your video.
Thanks David, that sounds like a rough crossing! I'd like to have a drink at the Ardshiel bar if I go back. I did visit the golf course in my Kintyre video that I posted last year.
I'm sure I told you I was a Bank Manager in Campbeltown in the early 2000's and I counted 28 local businesses that had employees that closed down around that time not an account of my decisions. I was the personal Manager and the Business Manager was the Manager of the Bank in Aberdeenshire when I was a boy growing up so it was good to have a friendly face so far away from home.. The largest closure was a textile business in the name of Jaeger which had a big impact on the town with regards unemployment . I was aware of a third Distillery opening up but I didn't realise thew importance of that decision. That is good news for the town of another three distilleries being set up. There was a growth industry set up at that time which was a Danish company called Vestas which was a wind turbine manufacturer but that has since closed as the cost of transportation was prohibitive once the local wind farms were completed. I never did any of the tours but I am not sure there were tours done at the time. When I left Campbeltown my staff gave me a bottle of Springbank with a personalised label. The local Round Table had an employee of Cadenheads set up a Whisky tasting for me as a leaving present. I am not sure that was the best move as I had to drive to the Isle of Lewis the next day. During my time there some of the older generation told me stories of Campbeltown in its hey day it really was a bustling metropolis. It was a quaint wee town but it can be lively on a weekend night especially if there were forces personnel in the town and pubs. I look forward to the next installment as usual.
Hello John! Yes I remember you mentioning before that you used to live and work in Campbeltown. Thanks for sharing more of your personal experiences in Campbeltown? Have you still got the bottle of Springbank or is it long gone? 😂
@sdrawkcabUK I believe Campbeltown will have a turn around. They are planning to build 2-3 three new distilleries there within the next couple of years. Should have a positive impact on employment and tourism.
A fantastic tour of Campbeltown and their rich history. Amazing seeing where the old distilleries once stood and cheers to Campbeltown whisky growing again!
I just saw that Hedley Wright had died last year. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra , of which he was a great patron gave a performance of the epic Grande Messe des Morts in his memory in June. I knew Hedley in Edinburgh and sometimes met him when he came up to London. His companies JG Mitchell and Cadenheads, produce many rare bottlings besides running Springbank. Thanks for mentioning Hedley, and may he rest in peace with his music and limitless bottles of Springbank. N.B water skeptics: I saw Hedley putting water in his (Glen Grant) whisky one time,
I took part in that concert! Part of the bass section in the RSNO Chorus. I wasn’t paying enough attention about the dedication to Hedley Wright, and I didn’t realise the Campbeltown/whisky connection until I came across this video. It was a great concert, a great occasion, made all the more special in retrospect for a whisky fan like myself. To misquote Burns - music an’ whisky gang thegither!
Hi Ruth, just subscribed to your channel. I am a Filmmaker vom Austria and my channel is mostly about Whisky (and in German)so obviously I came across your videos that I really enjoy. The first glas in the video is a so called CUPITA while the second one seems to be a Glen Cairn glas. They both follow the same idea, you fill them up to their broadest diameter so the surface is as big as could be. The alcohol starts to vaporize and the aromas gather in the glass due to its narrowing to the top rather than floating into the air. Keep on going, you have such a nice approach. So I will travel along from now on. Cheers.
Had my first taste of Springbank at their shop in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh festival. Bought a bottle and shared it ! No hangover! Fantastic. Warm, pure and slipped down nicely.. This was in the 80's. It is my favorite whisky of all time !
I visited a Scottish whiskey distillery about 25 years ago with my then husband. The distillery offered a tasting to two men and two women. Male volunteers were easily found, but for women not so many. So I raised my finger and was selected. I tasted 5 nice whiskeys and got a glass of my preferred one. All at the end of the morning. I never needed a good lunch so much and later had an extended afternoon nap 😂😂😂.
One of my daughter’s boyfriends is a liquor salesman, and quite a connoisseur of American Bourbon whiskeys, whereas I’ve always preferred Single Malts. We used his set of dram glasses for a Bourbon tasting one evening, and I must say a proper glass allows one to appreciate the subtleties of flavor from one to the other, and I came away with a decided liking of the Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon in very small quantities. I’ve learned over the years that a very good liquor is a treat, not a main course for me!
It's so wonderful that you visited Campbeltown! I love these video so much. I'm Looking forward to the next video featuring Scotland. There is so beautiful everywhere in Scotland !
Ruth, I suspect you might not realise what a great film that was? It’s a lovely summary of whisky in the Wee Toon and I reckon interesting for non-dram folk as well as enthusiasts and industry people like myself. 👏👏👏

My father was Hedley Wright, cousin. I work for a medical device company and was being visited by the European manager. As a welcome gift to Scotland, I gave him a bottle ofSpringbank 15 Year Old Single Malt. Finding this bottle was very difficult and when approaching the distillery for direction on finding this bottle, I was put in touch with a whiskey cellar in Edinburgh. As this is a rare whiskey with limited releases, the stock that was appointed to this distributor was already spoken for. The retailer suggested other whiskeys of equal quality however, I wanted to give my visitor one that had a family connection. Once the retailer realised this, he suddenly found one for me, as he was in fear of repercussions from Dr Hedley Wright. I really liked your coverage of the Campbelltown area and videos of your other travels. Thank you for doing them I find them very interesting., take care.
Greetings from Auckland New Zealand! So glad I found you🎉 There was a famous WW2 warship named HMS Cambletown. She made a huge, if not unusual, contribution to the outcome of the war. I would love to visit the town now for two reasons. Keep up the good work, we love your chatty show.
Another wonderful video. It was once said about the illicit distillers in the Campbelltown that they could make 10 shillings a week enough to keep a horse, a cow and a wife! Love Glen Scotia whisky and just received their Campbeltown Festival 2024 offering.
I visited Campbeltown last year. It was an impromptu detour as we found ourselves with extra time on our return to Glasgow after leaving Islay. Boy, am I glad that we found the Wee Toon! The quiet little town is beaming with charm! The architecture is stately and it's location on the Loch with Davaar Island looming in the distance seems something out of a movie! Whiskey lovers will appreciate that you can stay at Ardshiel hotel, a fine establishment loaded with the best selection of whiskey. Then walk to Springbank and all of the shops and restaurants in town. Islay is great but all of the distilleries are spread out, the roads are single track and laden with crater sized potholes. Getting on and off Islay can be challenging with weather effecting the ferry schedules. Meanwhile, one can drive to Campbeltown, enjoy Kintyre's beauty and stroll the streets without much effort! Campbeltown is a gem.
I was last in Campbeltown in September 2021. It was great to explore the area and I was pleased to see the place on the up once again. The downside on the timing of my visit was that whisky tours were not fully back as there were still Covid restrictions. I'm a big fan of Glen Scotia whiskies, so was keen to do the tour there. Alas, only the shop was open. I hope to get back up there in the next few years.
Hi Ruth I just discovered your channel from your Euro Tunnel video. I'm in Australia but both my parents are from Europe (Sweden and Wales) Very interesting videos and you present them so well. Keep up the good work 🙂
What a treasure! I never knew about Campbelltown as a whisky region. I agree peaty whisky is wonderful, so now I'll add Kilkerran to my must-try list. So sad to hear the ferry from Ardrossan isn't running. It seems many ferry services are dealing with old boats and short-handed crews. We can only wish for better times ahead for the boats and for the three new distilleries. I sense another trip to Campbelltown for a wee dram, when the new operations are up and running.
@@ruthaisling Oh, that's good news, thanks! One other question, if you don't mind: where is the beautiful bridge at 23:29? The engineer in me wants to see it in person.
Thanks! This was absolutely Brilliant. Just watching this made me thirsty for the smokey and peaty flavor of a Whiskey, which I enjoy above all parts of tasting whiskey. Saw your Speyside presentation and was enamored in wanting to again visit Scotland. Sharing this episode on other Social Media Platforms so that Campbelltown may get some interest and growth from this. Hope Ernie is enduring its travels. Cheers.
I bought a bottle of Campbeltoen whisy once in the nineties, cost me 49 pounds from Cadenheads in Covent garden (closed now). Then I believe there was a problem and for a while they stopped producing. I drank the bottle with friends, was really strong, anyway the bottle was one of the last ones produced at the time, and you could not get another for under 150. There was talk of reopening which seems to have happened yayay happy days
Hi Ruth, great video, I remember loading tankers from a distillery in Airdrie to go to a boat in Ayr harbour which was bound for Japan. I love how all the distilleries are kept so neat and tidy, always freshly painted and grass trimmed.
This is definitely one of my favourites as I love a wee dram of whiskey on a cold Canadian winters night ….. and on a summer’s evening. You have made your tour of distilleries sound very interesting ! Thank you for allowing me to learn about your experiences vicariously. Mary of Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
I've never tried them, but will make it a point! Thanks so much for your videos; your personality and enthusiasm make them simply superb. Scotland seems such a wonderful place.
As usual, an informative v-log. You delve into the history of everywhere you go and make you realise that Scotland has a massive part in history. PS. What time is the party!!!😂
Thanks for the history and look about town! As an aside, If the high abv nip bites you, as it does me -- tip I learned from Ralfy many moons ago: A wee drop of water, maybe 1 to 2 ml, half a teaspoon, will break that sharp edge and allow the spirit to open up. It's amazing to play with the water to get the spirit to offer up all it has, but don't drown it. Thanks for all you provide us digital hitchhikers! 気をつけて
Very interesting video! I also prefer peaty whiskies whilst my hubby loves the speyside ones. I once tasted an indian whisky named 'The Black Knight', and it tasted like the black knight at the bottom of his armour. Brrrrr..... We even have a lot of destilleries here in Germany, and at least one of them achieved 96 points out of 100 in the Whisky Bible.
Thanks for this wonderful video, As a seventy year old Scotsman living the lowlands I feel I must visit Campbelltown. Keep up the good work. PS. Enjoying an Islay heavily peated malt whilst watching this.
Fascinating! Very interesting & informative! I just remembered Campbelltown from your other video, "Traveling the Scotland Tourists Don't Go," which I am now going to watch again, as I also loved that one. Along with admiring longingly the mouth watering Seafood Platter at Skipness Seafood. Yum!. I also remember it from that old Song "Campbelltown Loch I wish ye were Whiskey, Campbelltown Loch Och Aye. Campbelltown Loch & if ye were Whiskey, I would drink ye drrrry." LOL. Oh my! That would have been a fair sight to see! So, its lovely to visit Campbelltown again & hear the interesting, yet sad, at times, story of the Distilleries there. Yet, it's heartening to hear that at least those three survived. Campbelltown is still a lovely place though, even with only three Distilleries left. The Distillery buildings themselves look so rustic though. So, just seeing & being able to admire them on a tour would be really interesting just for that alone! Aye lassie! I really love yer wee dram glasses they gave you there. Especially the ones at the last two Distilleries you visited. They are so cute! I love both the size & the shape of the glasses.Totally unique! I'm not really a whisky drinker, per se, but I would definitely use those wee dram glasses for everything else anyway. It's also a lot better than drinking out of a Loch! Yikes! LOL. Thank you for sharing another wonderful experience Ruth! Blessings to you!
Ruth I just now found your channel and I absolutely LOVE it!! I have shared this channel with everyone I know lol You are incredibly brave. The Bothy video just about did me in. No way I could ever EVER do that! I love to just live vicariously through your courageous and self sufficient videos. 🥰 I hope you will keep doing these! Thank you so much! Love love love! That Springbank glass you have there looks very similar to the Glencairn glasses I drink my Scottish whisky from. The unique shape truly adds to the overall drinking appreciation and experience. -Kyle
14:35 the wall that runs down the right of the building still has the outlines of the slot windows for drying the malt and its the feature wall in my garden 😊I live right next door to Glen Scotia i get some of the angels share every morning i'm sure! 🌬🥃
Fond, lifelong memories of two visits for Campbeltown Whisky festivals. It is the centre of the universe as far as I'm concerned. And such friendly, approachable, if not eccentric, whisky makers. I *will* go back to that shop one day. Much of the Springbank offering in particular can be hard to get online. Get yourself a bottle of the Local Barley, or the 15yo Organic. Or a Longrow Red.... Cheers Ruth, I mean slàinte mhòr.
Such a fun, information rich video. Your video persona is so likable and professional. Excellent compositions and story line. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
There it is again 😁 … some Scottish whiskeys (whiskys) have a pronounced salty flavor to them 😮! I’ve noticed that in the Islay malts, especially Ardbeg An Oa ❤️! Now, you can’t (or shouldn’t 😎) use seawater in making booze 😂, but it’s as though the seaside salt mist works its way into the barrels during aging 🙂❤️. I don’t notice it in Speysiders, but those in the southwest of Scotland are often from distilleries that are ocean-front 🙂.
When i was at Glen scotia in 2021 they only had those copita/wine glasses as i asked if they had any Glencairn glasses, but its only been in the last 18 month or so that they've had their own Glencairn glass, and i ordered one from the website. Im sure they had plenty of people asking for them. Ive got one of these small Springbank glasses, and also a Springbank Glencairn, and the first glass i got like that was from Blair Athol in Pitlochry.
Going there and to Islay next year and can’t wait to do these tours! The Kilkerran Heavily Peated and Springbank 15 are some of my absolute favorite whiskies.
Dear Ruth, you're my kind of girl. Loving peated whisky's just as I do. In my 70 years I've tried a lot , Canadian, Irish, Dutch, Japanese, a lot of Scottish and even Thai whisky (horrible) and the best ones come from your homecountry, Scotland!. While typing this, I'm enjoying a 12 year Auchentoshan. Love all your video's and reviews.
Ahhh... Springbank... the first distillery I worked at and it was even more old school as it is now, but also not the first I lived at/close to. The Wee Toon holds some fond memories for me.
@@ruthaisling it's such an amazing place - worked in both the warehouse and the distilling sides. For my "sins" myself and the lead distiller worked nights, back then it was 3 12 hours shifts, then a longer 14-15 hours from Thursday into Friday.
I I love whisky but have pretty much quit alcohol. I'd love to do these tours though, the history is fascinating and there's no harm in a dram! Fab video thanks Ruth. x
I have a 1/3 bottle of Glen Scotia from the UK whiskey exchange and 13:52 it is quite lovely !! So want to go and your video affirms that. Thanks for showing us how Campbelltown is the place to go !!!
Brilliant video as always. Its good to hear there will be more distilleries in Campbelltown. I have a soft spot for springbank as they were the only openly indepence supporting whisky producer. 😊
The other video you made about Scottish whiskey was great and this one was too Very interesting Ruth, love seeing these old buildings and leaning the history.
Thank you Ruth for another very nice & informative programme of yours.I don’t drink whiskey too often, but do occasionally have a wee little drop!As a resident of Australia, with Scottish heritage on my mother’s side.I remember when I was young, watching my Grandfather enthusiastically downing his favourite whiskey!😁So your very well done programme brought back some nice memories for me.A great watch Ruth, thank you.Tom😁👍🏻
Very informative and enjoyable to watch, back in the day when alcoholic drinks were more affordable it was quite common in London to take a Whisky with a Beer...I still do that to this day....last orders a Whisky would be poured into the Beer as a .. one for the road......just discovered your Channel, love the History that comes with it.
Neil Munro - who wrote the Para Handy stories - mentions Campbeltown in one of his Erchie stories, set in the 1900s - the King’s Cruise. The King needed a health break and went on a cruise round Scotland on the royal yacht, but was constantly pestered by thousands of people wanting to see him, including the Provost, magistrates and people of Campbeltown. “Campbeltoon washed its face, put a clove in its mooth, and tried to look as spruce as it could for a place that has mair distilleries than kirks … ‘Whit’s that?’ said His Majesty. ‘By the smell o’t I wad say Campbeltoon,’ said his skipper … ‘Oh man!’ said the puir King, nearly greetin’, ‘ … steam as far aff frae the shore as ye can, and it’ll maybe no’ be sae bad.’ So the yacht ran bye Campbeltoon.” Bit unfair on a historic town responsible for producing so much delectable whisky, but quite entertaining, like all Neil Munro’s works.
Thank you Ruth, such a perfect mix of charm and history from Campbeltown, amazing to think how Scotland has such a famous grip on the world's whisky. Not much of a drinker but would love to like something as fascinating as whisky. I have tried it but can't seem to get past the swallowing part. Can I be taught to appreciate the taste? Last attempt was around 30 years ago when I lived in Scotland. Brilliant video as ever, thank you.

That’s a great story! Thank you for sharing it. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Rest In Peace Hedley, knew him well as, whilst I worked there, he was very active in supporting the distillery coming back to life in the 1980's.
Loved the video Ruth. I had to pause it to pour a dram from the bottle I have of a Campbeltown blended malt! Definitely added to the enjoyment!
That sounds like a good accompaniment!
Greetings from Auckland New Zealand!
So glad I found you🎉
There was a famous WW2 warship named HMS Cambletown.
A horse, a cow and a wife 😂
The thumbnail for this video is the best so far.
Very cool that they repurposed the old buildings ❤😊👍
They look great!
Wow! Sounds like you had an amazing time! Thanks for sharing your story!
You need to go back!
Wow I love that architecture. Stone work. Full of human hands. Beauty
So nice!
Thanks
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Ruth I just discovered your channel from your Euro Tunnel video. I'm in Australia but both my parents are from Europe (Sweden and Wales) Very interesting videos and you present them so well. Keep up the good work 🙂
Thank you so much, so glad you are enjoying the videos!
This video was really enjoyable for me.
Springbank is one of my favorite whiskies and is known as the ‘perfume of malts.
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for taking us with you to your beautiful country. I can’t wait to travel to Scotland 🏴
I hope you get to Scotland soon!
What a history lesson about an area I have never sadly yet been to
Glad you enjoyed it. You should go!
Thanks Eric, the ferry service might be back soon I heard but not sure when!
Cheers.
Hello, thank you so much. I'm really happy you enjoyed this video and thanks for sharing it!
That's a statue of Linda McCartney at 13:36. Paul has a large farm in the area where they raised their children.
Just to wish you and Ernie happy anniversary it's one year since your first video went out on RUclips 🎉🎉 keep making more great videos
Thank you for noticing!!
Cambeltown was also the name of the famous ship used for the commando raid on the St. Nazaire docks during WWII.
That's interesting, thanks for sharing!
Hi Ruth, great video, I remember loading tankers from a distillery in Airdrie to go to a boat in Ayr harbour which was bound for Japan. I love how all the distilleries are kept so neat and tidy, always freshly painted and grass trimmed.
That’s really interesting, thanks Colin 🙏
Ruth you are becoming a connoisseur of whisky.😂
I enjoyed the history 💚
I am!
A wonderful video and a lovely Glen Scotia snifter glass too...marvelous. 😀
Glad you enjoyed it..I love the glass!
Thank you for the wonderful trip around Campelttowns whiskies distillerys look forward to a drink or two👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Sunday Funday 😊 ❤hiya Ruth 👋😊
Hello!
Hi Ruth, I love your trip reports, keep it up !! Thank you
Thanks so much Wolfgang!
ウイスキーが好きなので一度は行ってみたいです。👍
This is definitely one of my favourites as I love a wee dram of whiskey on a cold Canadian winters night ….. and on a summer’s evening. You have made your tour of distilleries sound very interesting ! Thank you for allowing me to learn about your experiences vicariously. Mary of Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you Mary!
Very interesting, thank you. Fabulous old buildings. Looking forward to my visit to the wine shop later today with my expanded knowledge of whiskeys.😊
Springbank is hard to find. As soon as it hits the shelves, it's gone. 😢 The Glen Scotia 15YO is one of my favorites.
Add some water to bring out more flavors and bring the ABV down.
Springbank has become a flippers choice.
I've never tried them, but will make it a point!
Thanks so much for your videos; your personality and enthusiasm make them simply superb. Scotland seems such a wonderful place.
Glad you like them! And thanks for watching.
Hello from Campbeltown! Thanks for the vlog!
Are you from Campbeltown? Lucky you! Thanks so much for watching!
@@ruthaisling Not originally but I'm here now since lockdown. Been watching you a while now, can't believe I missed you! How funny! Brilliant job btw!
As usual, an informative v-log. You delve into the history of everywhere you go and make you realise that Scotland has a massive part in history.
PS. What time is the party!!!😂
This is professional quality stuff Ruth - brilliant!
Wow.. thank you!
気をつけて
Thanks for the tips! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos 🥃
Another great video Ruth, I would have happily watched another hour, I've always had a soft spot for the peninsula.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏
Very interesting video!
Thank you for watching 🥃
@@ruthaisling Slàinte Mhath! 🥃
Can you smell the distillers throughout the town? I enjoyed hearing the history of the area. Thanks.
Thanks for this wonderful video, As a seventy year old Scotsman living the lowlands I feel I must visit Campbelltown. Keep up the good work. PS. Enjoying an Islay heavily peated malt whilst watching this.
Good choice of accompaniment 🥃 You should definitely visit Campbeltown!
Thanks so much, it is nice that three still remain! I love the dram glasses too and you're right, they would be good for other things too!
@@ruthaisling My pleasure! Have peaceful evening!🙂
Ruth what beautiful town n thanks for sharing it with me
Thanks for watching William!
Ruth
I just now found your channel and I absolutely LOVE it!! I have shared this channel with everyone I know lol
You are incredibly brave.
The Bothy video just about did me in.
No way I could ever EVER do that!
I love to just live vicariously through your courageous and self sufficient videos. 🥰
I hope you will keep doing these!
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Bluie! I really appreciate your support 😊
Always enjoy your videos Ruth, but especially look forward to your whisky region/distillery tours. Thank you. Slainte'
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy the whisky videos!
My wife and I will be visiting Scotland for three weeks this August and your travel videos have been helpful. 🙏
That Springbank glass you have there looks very similar to the Glencairn glasses I drink my Scottish whisky from. The unique shape truly adds to the overall drinking appreciation and experience. -Kyle
That’s great to know!
I look forward to watching more of your whiskey videos🥃😋
Just back from a tour of Scotland, your videos remind me of how lovely Scotland is.
Good to hear they do 🏴
Hi Ruth thanks for sharing this I've never been to Campbeltown and didn't know this your doing well 😊 lol from me in Birmingham xx ❤️ 😘
I’m pleased you have enjoyed the video!
@@ruthaisling i like all your videos Ruth your good
14:35 the wall that runs down the right of the building still has the outlines of the slot windows for drying the malt and its the feature wall in my garden 😊I live right next door to Glen Scotia i get some of the angels share every morning i'm sure! 🌬🥃
Wow.. how cool that you live next door! Have you seen the movie ‘Angels Share’?
@@ruthaisling haha aye great wee movie, now i'm waiting on someone making "Campbeltown loch i wish you were whisky" now that would be some film hey?🙂🥃
The festivals sound wonderful. I need to go to one! Thank you 🥃🙏
Such a fun, information rich video. Your video persona is so likable and professional. Excellent compositions and story line. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Thank you! I was a bit worried it was a bit information-heavy this time, but I find the history of Campbeltown very interesting!
Очень Интересно Смотреть
Ваши ИСТОРИИ..
СПАСИБО БОЛЬШОЕ 🎉

Thank you for these videos, really nice work...thoroughly researched and beautifully presented.
So nice of you. Thank you!
I love best about your video is you take us to place. I can dream of visiting. Thank you for these wonderful places with you beth 🌹 🩷🩷
My pleasure 😊 I’m pleased you can enjoy the places.
Haha sounds lovely! I'll avoid the Thai whiskies then! 😂
Ahhh... Springbank... the first distillery I worked at and it was even more old school as it is now, but also not the first I lived at/close to. The Wee Toon holds some fond memories for me.
That’s so interesting that you worked at Springbank! Thanks for sharing 🙏
@@ruthaisling it's such an amazing place - worked in both the warehouse and the distilling sides. For my "sins" myself and the lead distiller worked nights, back then it was 3 12 hours shifts, then a longer 14-15 hours from Thursday into Friday.
Great video! There's also Watt Whisky, a fantastic independent bottler. They do weekly tastings in one of the pubs in Campbeltown.
Thanks for the info!
I I love whisky but have pretty much quit alcohol. I'd love to do these tours though, the history is fascinating and there's no harm in a dram! Fab video thanks Ruth. x
Thank you 🙏
I have a 1/3 bottle of Glen Scotia from the UK whiskey exchange and 13:52 it is quite lovely !! So want to go and your video affirms that. Thanks for showing us how Campbelltown is the place to go !!!
I visited Campbeltown in 2020 in-between lockdowns. Nice to see it again x
Oh lovely!
It was ❤
what an epic small town!
Brilliant video as always. Its good to hear there will be more distilleries in Campbelltown. I have a soft spot for springbank as they were the only openly indepence supporting whisky producer. 😊
I think Campbeltown has a bright future!
Always nice to see you smiling face and cheerful presentation!
😊 thank you for saying!
Another great video Ruth!
Thanks again!
Good on ya Ruth love a little Scotch. Thanks for the insight to Scotlands finest.🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you ruth , you are adorable 😍😍 and because of you i get to tour Scotland ... awesome
You’re welcome 😊
I do like those tapered dram glasses. They fair funnel the fumes at yer face! 😀
Yes they do 😆
The other video you made about Scottish whiskey was great and this one was too Very interesting Ruth, love seeing these old buildings and leaning the history.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was really interesting making it.
Thank you, Ruth, that was interesting 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another outstanding output - Slàinte !
Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much Tom 🙏
In my cupboard are 9 different Typs of whiskey glasses, this shaped is also my favourite shape! 😊
Thank you 🙏 I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Ha. At the end..., someone really getting into the whisky tasting. Thank you, really enjoyed this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
‘By the smell o’t I wad say Campbeltoon,’ said his skipper … ‘Oh man!’ said the puir King, nearly greetin’, ‘ … steam as far aff frae the shore as ye can, and it’ll maybe no’ be sae bad.’ So the yacht ran bye Campbeltoon.”
Bit unfair on a historic town responsible for producing so much delectable whisky, but quite entertaining, like all Neil Munro’s works.
I never used to like it until I tried the peated whiskies and then I started liking whisky a little bit!
