@@fungalwater3175 I plan to save up my money over the years and get by on my current VivoBook and Redmi Note 7 which have been doing great for the two years i've had them. Hopefully by the next 5 years I have invested enough cash that I can go and upgrade to a new next-gen laptop and phone, since I've pretty much never owned a real gaming laptop or flagship phone.
Earlier this year, I had an HP laptop that stopped working due to a broken WiFi cable, then I had purchased a used HP Elitebook 840. Prior to purchasing, I had checked the item for any physical damages, no problems to report and the operation at boot up, all good as well. The hard drive was at 320 gigs and the memory was 4 gigs. Updated the hard drive to 1TB SSD and the ram to 16. Battery life is good but I plan to buy another for better life operation. Overall, the purchase was good since I had traded in my old laptop for $55.00 and this for $120.00 (originally $175).
Checklist - Upgradability - original parts - ram, wifi card, SSD etc - dead pixels - battery life - functionality of keys - Wifi - speakers/sound - Any warranty? - activated windows (if applicable) - run performance test software
try use ssd if u haven tried one. if u become allergic to hdd, make sure your future laptop has ability to use ssd. like remove the dvd-rom an swap it with storage drive
3:05 Yeah, why have the opportunity to return the broken laptop u bought on Ebay in 30 days (FOR ANY PRODUCT, EVEN IF SELLER DOESN'T ACCEPT RETURNS) if you can just buy a laptop off craigslist, that breaks in a week, and ull have no way of returning it. Great advice!
Great video, but as the ironic guy said a little more down on the comments, buying off eBay isn't actually bad. You don't get to try the laptop before buying it, but you still have eBay's and eventually PayPal's coverage. Those are actually really important!
Sorry. Disagree with you about both eBay and Craigslist. Had multiple experience with both. Most sellers are flexible about haggling on the former and I always felt like the latter was Midnight Auto Sales... YMMV...
I'm so sad that your amazing channel is only at 9k subs And you don't get enough views I will totally support you and i really love your video Keep doing them ❤
I hate to be the one too add this but if plan on getting a used laptop you should write 0’s to the hard drive and reinstall the OS the last owner could have collected illegal images
Don't buy the x1 carbon (second gen) that is shown in this video! The typing experience will be really horrible and the wifi card will fail after some time. Sure, this x1 carbon has a touchbar like the MacBook Pro 2016 but it's not really worth it for the longer run. I would recommend the third or fourth gen X1 Carbon or a ThinkPad T440p with i5 4300, IPS Display and Nvidia GPU. This laptop also allows you to use three SSDs. One SSD will be a mSATA one (I think), the second SSD will be a SATA SSD that can be in the same place where the Mainboard is and the third SSD will be another SATA one but this SSD will make you sacrifice 8$ for a DVD HDD Caddy and your DVD drive will have to be removed. Overall, I did similar thing with a 240gb mSATA SSD for the OS and both of the SATA SSDs have 500gb of storage.
I snagged one for college but without the GT730M, but I'm willing to sacrifice that because I don't game on my laptops, and less parts, the less that will break.
I went the HP Zbook route and I'm now rocking a similar hw configuration. 250GB SSD and 2TB HDD sitting on a caddy. The main HDD bay sits empty for now. I've been thinking of fitting another SSD there for heavy games like GTA V.
Ez. Just buy late old thinpads with good upgradability options. If you can ask the seller to check the battery wear level which is a must unless you're planning on buying new battery for the laptop and if there is no info about battery wear level just approximate the used laptop by year so 5% - 9% per year * number of year from the current date
This is painfully true, the DM4 I own has treated me well, but I stopped using it eventually as I got better laptops, currently enjoying an X220. However every other HP I've owned is absolute trash, like most companies, HP's consumer grade is trash, their buisness grade series are decent though.
Strongly disagree with #3. As a Thinkpad enthusiast, eBay is my primary market search engine and immediate go-to for older models. The "Auction/Buy It Now/Make an Offer" listing options provide sellers with the ability to give their customers opportunities to bargain with them. The customer feedback systems allow consumers to easily shop around for trusted sellers and ignore sellers with glaring, negative feedback. I think that your argument might be more useful for more recent laptops.
2:51 I find funny you saying Ebay is expensive, but my local marketplace are selling old laptops with no gpu for more than what ebay has for a laptop with a gpu...
idk what is a big deal to buy an laptop. i have mine for 10 years now and it works perfectly. ofcourse battery is almost dead. But anyways now i want just more powerfull laptop.
Can you recommend me, used laptop. Budget ranging between $ 340-&460. My purpose are, simple editing, autocad, slight game etc. Can you recommend the best fit used laptop range between $340-460? New subscriber from Philippines thankyou ❤️😇
I want to buy a gaming hp pavilion gaming, the guy says it only had office usage and the pad has some issues but everything else is fine. I'm not sure yet about it but it's a good price
Some of them also have dreamcolor displays, which is great! I was eyeing the 8570w really hard (sold for little over 300 at the time) but ended up going for a Zbook 15 G1. Quite the workhorse. Used workstations are great value if you dont mind mediocre battery life.
I buyed second hand laptop and its asus, but I think the built in programs like sonicmaster and finger print driver are deleted can you help me to reinstall that?
Don't You hate it when mf are trying to sell their 5 year old gaming laptop with a broken screen, no charger, and missing keys for the price they bought it for
Decent list if you're buying like used gaming laptop. Other than that, just find reputable lease computer business were used business models, yes meaning those +1500€ models are sent back after lease time and they're serviced and sold as used machines. They might even replace keyboards or displays to completely new ones depending on business. Good ones always state well machine state and you can just send machine back as they have warranty. Just got X250 about 1/8 of original price and year warranty + 3 months for batteries. Arrived very well boxed in so big bubblewrap that it would've been impossible for machine to destroy during shipping. Also I found two very, very small indications on machine that it was used. On even a good glance it looked completely new.
Honestly, video editing might be more demanding than Minecraft depending on the type of editing. You could probably find one to run Minecraft, but it might be lacking in the rendering and whatnot for video editing so I would look into that and check what hardware is recommended for the type of editing you’re doing
