Wreckfest Part 1 (First Car, Tuning and Testing!)

- Welcome to a rambly introduction to one of my favourite driving games!
In this video, I thought I’d take an “orientation” approach to the beginning of the game to help new viewers/potential players to get better acquainted with it (obviously mixed in with my usual approach). It’s probably the most “walkthrough-y” video I’ve ever done, so I have no idea how many people will be interested! Do let me know what you think :)
I just think it’s such an underrated driving game that ticks all the right boxes, despite its obscurity.
The next coverage of this game will feature far more driving and less talking, so hang tight if you’re here for the racin’!

This is quite a rambly car video that has a lot more to do with tuning and building rather than racing (though that _is_ a huge part of the game). Apologies if that is a bit boring...

I haven't really been interested in these sorts of games before, but this definitely gauged my interest. Hearing you explain everything I previously had no clue about was a really fun time. Glad you're just playing what you enjoy, and making stellar content, at that!

As for the explaining, I think it's fine. It's nice to get an introduction to the game and the way things work.
And despite taking up a decent chunk of the video, it definitely wasn't boring, it was quite engaging.

I have the attention capacity of a goldfish when it comes to anything car related, but I can and will listen to Batesee lecture me for hours about the inner workings of a car engine.
I was so engaged that this 30 minute video felt like it lasted five minutes.

as someone who never touches the tuning sliders because I don't know what they do, I really appreciated the in-depth explanation of them, thanks!
One the one hand, I know quite literally *nothing* about cars, frankly the mere idea of driving one myself terrifies me. On the other, the amount of LOVE you have for this game and the sheer ENJOYMENT you clearly get out of it made this such a delightful watch. I hope you'll make this a series, this was just a joy to experience from the virtual back-seat!

I don't have this game but it makes me nostalgic anyway. my first car was an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Special Edition. It was older than I was. Unlike your beautiful masterpiece, it was just silver. It was so fun to drive down dirt roads! Purposely fishtailing was wild. I loved that beast. Only car I felt like I could off-road with.
Love your videos, boss. Minimal cuts and edits, no music, no random sound effects, just gameplay and charming commentary. Also love the post-race replay edits with 3rd person angles for turns and crashes. Keep it up my dude, look forward to more of this game
I've been playing wreckfest for two years and I have to say you are REALLY good at making camera angles in the replay mode. I would love to see more wreckfest on the channel

That one's been in my wishlist for ages! The fact that everything can go wrong all at once worries me, but maybe I've just got to _do it_ !

@@TheBatesee There *is* a multi-player mod for it and, while it is barebones and not very good (especially in terms of connectivity), you can still have fun with some friends as you go driving down to the pub for some sausage and fries and some VB! (Lol.) I'd gladly join ya if you'd have me :D

I really liked the intro and explanation part, it kept me engaged for the whole duration. You were having fun, I was entertained and I learned some things.

I love watching you gush over cars, even if I have no idea what's going on. It's like watching a toddler show you their hotwheel collection. They're going off about it and you can't understand a single fucking word, but hey- they're happy. So you're happy.
Also, your motorcycle videos were always my favorite. I found them calming. I hope you do more of the riding with Batesee again in the future.

I'm pretty sure that putting a flame design on the car is a reverse-psychology tactic for preventing the actual car from being the 'flame design' itself.

My God that was awesome! The sounds! The crashes! The frantic race! And the constant gear dropping and eventually breaking your gear stick just added to the illusion that you're driving a hunk of old, worn parts loosely held together with duct tape, hasty welds and chains! That was awesome!
And even though I already knew everything you explained about the car, I wasn't at all bothered by it and found it entertaining. Just because you added that little bit of flavor in the explanations.
I especially love it because it could be an amazing introduction and explanation for people who might not know this stuff.
I can honestly see someone hearing all of that and get a little spark of inspiration to become more knowledgeble about their cars in general!

Great video! I really enjoyed that you took the time to explain what things do, I know next to nothing about cars so it was very insightful! The knocking sound the car made after you crashed was somehow very anxiety inducing for me, very scary stuff x)

Thanks. Beginner racer here. Your video was perfect for me. Wreckfest ps4 is the game I'm starting to play first, starting about 3 days ago. See lots of weaknesses in my racing and not knowing much about this game. Appreciate you going back to the start because that's where I'm at. Thanks again waiting for Gravel ps4 in the mail as well.

In America we call it when somebody has an open diff where all the power goes to one wheel a "One wheel peel" becuase only one wheel is peeling out. It's VERY fun to say
That intro reminds me that there's one thing I truly don't like in a racing game I've been playing, Redout, where all of the racecraft you can unlock sound the same. Which I don't like because one of the racing teams have machines that are based on muscle cars and they don't sound like them at all. Also, they're all fairly quiet. The loudest thing you hear is the sound of air rushing by and the opposing racers either zooming past you or gaining on you.

The driving games I like are the ones where you can make your own vehicle, and I mean from the ground up creation, from a seat to a monster truck, a engine to a mech, examples are besiege, trailmakers, the one lego racing game, and also I guess that Build A Boat game on Roblox counts, because you can buy stuff to make cars and stuff, anyways, I remember making a rocket ship (cuz I fucking LOVE space, and pushing the limits of building games) and I added like 6 mega thrusters to the bottom and added a button which activated them all when pressed, and it crashed my game when I did it because I just have a shitty laptop, also I remember using some of the thrusters to basically make a super beyblade, which now that I look back on the footage I had saved of it, unintentionally looked like a swastika from a top down perspective
I'm a big car guy, so I loved this video. Keep it up.
