I think Detective Pikachu Returns shows that they are still interested in spinoffs, but like you said its the timing of things. However like you I am frustrated by the lack of any game covering the huge gap of content since 6th Gen games. Not only did we have three new Gens since then, but new mechanics, (Z Moves, Dynamax, Gigantomax,Terratilize), to add or adjust to, new formes,(Regional, convergent & new evolutions), LORE, Moves and concepts that would go swimmingly in PMD setting. Thinking about the lost potential still irks me. However I have to realize they have a lot of other things manage currently. So I just have to wait. Still sucks though.
Pokemon Ranger has it worse, although would have adapted easier as the Browsers never had all Pokemon compared to Mystery Dungeon where that was originally the standard. Mega Evolution bosses would have been so cool in Ranger. I still imagine what 5th & 6th Gen Ranger games could have been like at times. As for Mystery Dungeon I wonder if we should worry about it getting the Mobile Phone Game treatment at some point. Gacha Recruits, limited dungeons per day, Premium items that you have to pay for I'm actually glad that Pokemon hasn't sold out Mystery Dungeon like that. Considering that Dexit happened I don't expect there to ever be a new Mystery Dungeon that has more than Super Mystery Dungeon. While Z Moves are probably easy to convert to Mystery Dungeon as powerful moves, the others seem much more difficult. How would you justify Giant Pokemon inside the tight spaces of Dungeons? Deep down I know fangame developers are the only way to get the spinoffs we want & from what I was able to find there are 2D Mystery Dungeon fan projects that contain Gen 9 Pokemon. Seeing new Mystery Dungeon games made in the old style is an interesting look at what could have been.
@@WaterKirby1994 You might not know, but the same developers of Pokemon Ranger are the ones that are making Detective Pikachu now, so I think there is a slight possibility that Ranger will return someday, once they are done with Detective Pikachu, but if not, well, Ranger will forever stay with their pals Pokepark and Conquest that will never get a new game.
@@ivanzoneBR24 Conquest was only ever supposed to be a 1 time thing I thought. Wasn't it a remake of a Japanese Game with Pokemon added in? I never understood why the Pokepark games stopped, although I'm too old these days anyway. Approaching 30 life loses all flavor it seems.
@@WaterKirby1994Pokemon not having more SRPG spinoffs like that was wasted potential I wish we could see more pokemon spinoffs of other RPG genres (that are not gatchas). I like pokemon but the turn-based rpg games aren't as fun anymore 🫤
I have faith that they will continue the series, even if February 2024 they announce a Explorers remake I still would like to try it, but a new game would be even better.
And now Soney is buying out kadokawa which is Spike Chunsofts parents company, killing any hope of PDM ever coming back
Yeah that news is extremely unfortunate.
