A dose of Uneeda is a great way to start the year. Loved "Nosferatu" and I saw it in a packed screening. Looking forward for 2025 in the movie landscape and also to see what the Uneedaverse brings. Happy New Year guys.
Happy New Year bros! I can see how Nosferatu could've been boring for "modern" horror audiences. Its definitely for the classic horror crowd, it's a masterpiece imo. Everything about it, the atmosphere, the acting, the set pieces, Bill Skarsgard, the sound design, ALL AROUND. Im conflicted whether Nosferatu or Longlegs as my #1 of the year. 2024 was such a fantastic year for the genre. There was literally something for everyone. It's a golden era if i ever heard of one, and I'm so happy that independent cinema is flourishing. Hope your Christmas was great, I got q Steam Deck and of course, the first thing I get running is Touhou. The fact that i can play Touhou on the go is a freaking miracle. It astonishes me every time i think about it. P.S. Apple Sucks (Christian downvotes my comment lol)
This was a great episode, boys. Two things: Christian had a great point when he talks about fucking around with a 102 years of history and the way we visualize and feel about a character. Also where your headspace is when you see a film like this. Secondly, Super cool when you broke down the boring argument and why it's a lazy take. Personally, I got lost in this film and had goosebumps thinking, this might be my new favorite film. It was right around the forest opening scene. Then...I felt like it shifted tonally and was less focused on Orlok, and things actually kind of rushed even with the runtime. So, I was mixed, a solid 6 with upside. Then, something happened today and I couldn't stop thinking about this damn thing. Seeing it again, and..shit, this was a refreshing podcast. I've watched The Lighthouse a dozen times and think its his best allegorical work really enjoy the theology and lovrcraftian madness. Cheers!
It's interesting how many nosferatu references are made for such an old property. Shows like Spongebob, and Are you afraid of the dark both featured the character.
I am seeing Nosferatu tomorrow. I really hope I am going to like it because I promised myself I was not going to get hyped over any movie again after one too many disappointments in the past, but I have been eagerly anticipating Nosferatu. The only concern I have is that whilst I admired and appreciated The Witch and The Lighthouse and loved the aesthetic and atmosphere of those films, I was not a massive fan of either film. I want to love them because there are things in them that I love. So to hear people say Nosferatu was a good film or that the visuals and atmosphere were good but they didn't enjoy the film overall is making me take notice. My main draws are as someone who loves the Dracula novel and the original 1922 Nosferatu and as a Bill Skarsgård fan. So provided its a good Dracula/Nosferatu movie and a good movie in general I should be happy.
Great show as always fellas but you need to start leaving show notes about spoilers I was in the shower listening and you guys almost spilled the beans on Nosferatu for me it doesn’t come out here in Australia till the third of next month 😅
From a bunch of the people I know I’m also in the camp of the mustache didn’t ruin it or change really anything for me, especially later on when he has all the gore and blood in it. It looks gross and just adds to Orlok being this devious bastard demon and not this pretty creature
Agreed. It's historically accurate, and it's faithful to the original source material. Considering all the adaptations throughout the years, it has been one of the missing elements in almost all of them. I believe Christopher Lee had one in one movie. I am happy we are getting a moustache, and it's a shame people don't like it, but whatever.
I have to shrug as I don’t understand how anyone could see something that’s so masterfully done with engaging visuals as boring but then again I’m shocked there are as many fast and furious movies so there’s that. For those who didn’t like it, I’m sure there are films you absolutely adore that I couldn’t watch 5 seconds of so let’s calm this a draw. I love my films and you love yours.
Agreed. People can have whatever opinion they want, and if the film did not work for them, then that is absolutely to be respected. Personally, I enjoyed the film immensely. It was exactly the film I was expecting, having read the original book and seeing the original 1922 movie. I was never bored for a moment.
@@foxhound5043 to each their own, but I think claiming this was “bad” is just absolutely wild. It not being up your alley or moving too slow for one’s tastes, I totally get. That doesn’t make it objectively a poor film
@ Dude I’m not even trying to hate at all. Enjoyed the Northman liked the witch. Went into this excited. Dragged my family with me to see it. I thought it was ass man.
Nor am I. As I said, I totally get if it didn’t work for you. We don’t have to like the same things. However, I think there are basic fundamentals when assessing whether a movie is technically good, whether we like it or not. And I think Nosferatu is an objectively well put together movie. Doesn’t mean it’ll work for everyone, but it checks the boxes of what makes a motion picture “good”. Acting, story, visuals, music, etc.
About to check this stream out.. .. lets see what you guys thought about Nosferatu….😂 i could see why some find it Slow or Boring.. i liked it though.. 🩸🍿
Annoyingly, I had a bunch of teenagers near me. Giggling throughout the entire film. But to be fair I had that same thing happen at a recent re-release screening of A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's kind of an epidemic, I guess 🫤

I have a very similar theory as you guys for explaining deja vu
Dracula in the book has a mustache. So since Nosferatu is based off Dracula. The mustache makes sense.
I didn’t mind it 🤷🏻♂️

People are allowed to have their own opinions of course, but the word boring being used for this movie baffles my mind…
Yeah, I’m right there with you. Respect to those who feel that way, but I just don’t see it
