This is a perfect example of how masculinity has evolved from Howard’s generation to Harry’s. Howard is aggressively competitive and feels the need to dominate others and act disrespectful (particularly to women) to seem cool, but it’s so clearly a sign of his own insecurity. Harry refuses to stoop to his level by building people up instead of tearing them down and talking about everyone with respect. It’s such a striking difference.

So I’m neutral about Harry Styles like I don’t hate him and I’m not obsessed with him nor do I go out of my way to listen to his music however I truly believe he will go on to be one of the greatest musicians of our generation. He’s so gracious and humble it’s so nice to see someone have theses legends of music mentor him and nurture his unique perspective.
i actually feel this way too (except im a little obsessed with his aesthetics/fashion)

@@teshalis and that's how he achieved so much success. No 13 to 16 year old girl is going to analyze the chorus or lyrics or song structure of their music. I always find it funny when they talk about how they don't understand why they became so famous. He's a good looking guy, that's all it takes when your target audience is preteens. Kids run 100% on hormones and emotion..
It's very clear now that the older you get the more you can separate his appearance with his true talent.
I love this comment!! I felt the exact same way about him, you worded it perfectly. But then I listened to his new album, again just out of curiosity, I’d seen him perform on SNL and knew he had a good voice, but after listening to the album I was like ohhhhh wow, he’s got something special. Like, after I listened to it he kinda stopped being “that guy from one direction” in my head and I feel like his best is still yet to come.
To be the greatest musician of a generation, you have to write amazing songs. His songs are luke warm, dull and un inspiring. Hes living off his 1d fame now.

Whether your like the music or not Harry is very openly intelligent. It's a pleasure to listen to real comments rather than something that isn't genuine. I've listened a few times just based on that fact he's not a label but being himself. Stern tried but Harry was right on line with the bus that stern uses. Great interview
