Well actually most salesman in apple stores ask what u want to use the poduct for and after that, they give you honest recommendations. Just my experience.
@@schnupfi419I can confirm that as an ex Apple retail peep of 7 years. It was one of the best parts of working there. @@magnetacyan5032 You do realize that Apple's margins on products are public right... most of their products fall into a 15-20% profit margin. I'd hardly say that's 5 times overpriced

You got the younger kids working there now and they just be honest with you. I was about to buy a 14 pro and lil dude talked me out of it saying it’s a minimal upgrade and to not waste my money. These Gen Z kids just tell it like it is.
At least he was being honest. I love my AirPod pro’s that go in my ear but have been wanting the Max but I can’t get over that price tag. For $550, they should be swear and water resistant. I’m not paying $550 to basically wear them while just sitting down relaxing or on a trip.
I’m sure he asks them or something like buying them online, and he probably asks the workers or something if he can shoot a video, it’s not like he’s a small RUclipsr he has enough clout and subscribers to where they’d more than likely say yes
As an ex-employee from Apple I can 100% confirm this lol, we don’t make commission and the main goal isn’t to sell you the most expensive device, but the one that will fit your needs. Even tho I hate selling in general, I’d always ask what the person do, for fun, for work and etc to figure which device might fit your need.
Honestly same at Best Buy. No commission. So many people make returns and margins on big ticket electronics for the retail store is already thin. So the goal becomes to sell them something they won’t return, and attach accessories. But yeah glad I don’t work in “sales” anymore lol.
@@anonymouse639 yep, compared to the Sony WHs they are still really good, I am in the eco system and I’d still rather get the Sony, the thing is the WHs 5 sound quality is not as good as the WHs 4 which is weird, I wouldn’t recommend the Max go anyone personally because the price is not ok and Apple needs to learn that their stuff isn’t gold, but quality wise, they are both very good headphones.
i feel like for this one he just threw on a shirt that looked close enough to legit and walked into an apple store. He didnt even need to talk to the associates first. From what it looks like.
This is really not uncommon at Apple stores at all. When I was much younger my parents were buying an iMac for the house, and they talked them down to the base model. Then, when I was going to college, they talked me down to the base model MacBook Pro!! They do the opposite of upsell you, it’s in their interest in the long-run NOT to feel like salesmen and not to sell you something you really don’t need.
I think it’s because they know in the future you will upgrade, selling 2 products instead of 1 is better than selling the highest model. They want you to buy the AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max
It’s surprisingly honestly, the apple store employees don’t try to push the most expensive products on you, they actually try to dissuade you from choosing them for cheaper options. Really weird.
I couldn’t do retail at Apple, I grew up poor and watching people (of a similar socioeconomic background) make bad financial decisions killed me. Even if you do have the money, it’s wise to know what you’re buying and evaluate other options. I switched to working IT at my university, now I just help people download zoom and occasionally repair laptops.

If someone wants something let them enjoy the experience of buying it. I had an experience similar to this when i bought my ipad mini. The associate was rude and telling me i needed a bigger device. I politely informed them i already had an ipad pro 12.9” pro with 1T of storage, an ipad pro 11 inch with 1T of storage, my watch, my phone, my husbands phone and my air pods 1st, 2nd gen and my air pdos pro. They didnt have a response. And no, none of these are on payment plans or have apple care. Ive never needed apple care.

I agree! One of the best parts is the refund policy, much better than any stores. I remember purchasing and refunding a product on the spot in 5 minutes because the Apple Store didn’t have a demo unit 😂
