Ok so for those asking: These or the Sony XM4? I’ve personally ordered a black pair of these for myself. I think I’ll be using them for most everyday listening. But for my flights and travel I have a feeling I’m gonna hate the limited Android multi device support and get annoyed and switch back to the Sonys ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Recently bought a pair of these as I was getting tired of the cord on my ATH-M70x Studio monitors. and also needed some headphones for out and about. Have not compared the two yet, as the Airpods are so comfy. for everyday listening these are the perfect solution. Not attached to the PC, they seamlessly recognize when i am using a different device and connect. quite impressed.
Ok can we acknowledge just how good marques’ transitions are? That intro cut from everyone in the room to no one was SO CLEAN!

Recently bought these and can confirm the battery issues have been pretty much solved and u don’t need the case all the time, and besides them not folding down I have no complaints so far! Really enjoying them

I’ve used them. For Bluetooth out the box headphones, amazing. Every other pair of headphones I try like the Sonys I instantly am like yeah that’s Bluetooth (compression). But these at least with an iPhone I was surprised on what I was getting out of Bluetooth. I wouldn’t ever wear such headphones out and about as they’re quite heavy. But at home use or sitting down working on something on the go, definite buy if you’re an apple user.
I was so skeptical, but the max are the best bluetooth headphones I've ever had (and I have had quite a few over the years). XM4's were dull and lifeless and became defective after about year with latency issues.(good noise cancellation though). Microsoft surface had great controls and decent sound quality but again defective and one ear cup stopped working after some time. The max have great build quality and and the materials used justify the higher price.

Here’s my humble opinion about them. I’m currently an Airpods Max owner who previously owned Sony xm4 and Bose NC 700 for a couple of days. If you want to use headphones just at home and to be free from any annoying noises, and you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, and you like to watch Dolby Atmos movies often, you won’t regret buying Airpods Max. Their ANC performance is marginally better than that of any of Sony and Bose headphones according to a measurement performed by a Korean RUclipsr called “0DiBi”. Also, another great thing about Airpods Max is their white noise level in background with no music playing is way lower than Sony’s and Bose’s. That said, if you want some headphones you like to use mostly when travelling, go get some lighter, cheaper ones like just normal Airpods or cans from Sony or Bose or whatever. Personally I couldn’t keep wearing either Sony xm4 or Bose NC 700 more than an hour due to discomfort issues with both of them, whereas I find wearing Airpods Max for several hours very comfortable despite their relatively heavyweight. Their innovative canopy headband and mesh cushions really work for me.
The last point is why I bought these for travel.
My guy, thanks for this. I struggle finding someone else who compares decent brands with Apple. I’m looking to replace my very faithful and now old Bose QCs and am thinking of these because as you’ve said I’m very deep in the Apple ecosystem at home.
What if want to use them mainly with iPhone and iPad, but occasionally with a windows computer for zoom or classroom videos. Would the AirPods work well ?
I love my AirPods Max! I used them for the first time with my 4K Apple TV, I thought the sound came out from my tv but was my AirPods Max: amazing! Finally I can Watch a movie at evening at max volume!

I’m glad you mentioned the plastic at the top because when the jbl’s came out i bought some and had them for like 3 years in great condition and they broke because i accidentally opened them to wide so thank you for pointing that out!

my only gripe is the price but everything else is SO GOOD ABOUT THEM. I tried them once, and they are the best sounding, most comfortable headphones ive ever used. and the way they look is FANTASTIC, i hate the way headphones look on my head, but with these being so flat it doesnt make me look goofy when im listening to music. i LOVE these headphones and want a pair for myself

Technically, you can't "turn off" the regular Airpods unless you put them in the case, though too. lol

I bought them and I travel a lot and the Max are so dope! I have an Ipad and a MacBook pro yet a Samsung phone and they work great! I cannot be happier with them! They don't hurt my ear the sound quality is great and the noise canceling is on the spot. I even hear better whit them when I allow the noise come in than without them! Very good quality. I almost got the Sonny but there was something didn't fit for me with those! Now the apple one are so comfortable and I know they are pricey but the quality is there! I am very happy with them!

I actually agree with the replacing ear cups thing. I replace my ath-m50x cups like every year or so.
I own a pair of AirPods maxes. The audio is incredible, the different modes like noise cancelation are incomparable to other devices, and it looks super sleek. So far the only issues are this. The first is the weight. They are heavy, which makes them a bit more annoying than other headphones, but I find them easier to wear long-term over AirPods which bothers my ears after a while. The other thing is how tight the clamp is. This was a problem, but I stretched them out a few times, and that issue went away quickly. So yeah if you have the money they are worth it.

I jus got them for a birthday gift. They are amazing. The best I’ve ever used. They can use some improving. Like the lightning port. Like the weight. But these are easily the best I’ve ever used.

this was the first pair of outside headphones I ever bought and don’t regret it. they look awesome and do their job, the only complaint I have is the noise bleeding they have. as someone that loves to occasionally max out my music to really feel the bass it’s like it’s as loud as something playing from my phone at 40% volume. other than that they are great

So two years after this video was posted, you can see in a lot of videos on The Studio channel that these are not only used daily by Marques, even for editing, but also by a LOT of employees in the studio. I think this really speaks to how good these headphones are. It's crazy that a couple years later, these are still apparently the best wireless headphones, at least for Apple users. The people who work in the studio, especially Marques, could use ANY pair of headphones they want, and yet they choose the Airpods Max over all the other available headphones. The mix of convenience and sound quality seems like it's unrivaled, although I wish they did fix that case issue.

Not sure if you're from the US, but it can be legitimately difficult to use an Android phone here depending on what industry or social circle you're in. ive had the momentum m2 since 2017 and they are awesome, still going strong and i have around 20hrs of battery they are still one of the best sounding headphones on the market, probably going to have them untill the next version of the airpods max comes out

for people like me who want less latency the hammerhead buds are awesome. What I mean by that is that most people just compare the sound quality and how comfortable the headphones are; but a lot of people might buy it bcuz of the look, or because of what the headphones are trying to do (ex. better durability). A lot of time they're just like "these headphones have better sound quality so dont buy the other ones" and only pay little attention to everything else.

Thanks for the review Marques. They are too pricey for me. But then again I said that about the Airpods and now I own a set of Airpods Pro's! I am older and although I do have the Spotify and Sirius XM and Pandora and RUclips music, I mostly listen to the music I purchased thought out the years and own. Streaming music is like the old days of AM and FM radio but now you pay for it. Again, thanks for the review.

I wouldn't have a problem paying £550, but they're so impractical! I couldn't live with that case and no 'off' button and they look far too heavy. I'd also cry the first time I scratched the metal, or damaged the fragile mesh headband. Awful design.

The case is the only one at this price or higher that lets you maintain your size settings. You don't have to resize them every time you pull them out which is dope.

I really like my AirPods max headphones. They really sound amazing. Audio described movies on Disney+ sound really good. Audio dramas also sound very good as well. I turned off spacial audio because when listening to audio books, that doesn't work. I also turned off the head detection feature. I have a hard shell case that is great for storing my headphones. This case I have even causes the headphones to go into low power mode. I got mine from Ebay which I think is pretty cool.

I bought mine yesterday April 1 and I was in San Francisco and flying back home to Baltimore and LET ME TELL YOU VERY VERY EXCELLENT IN CANCELLING THE LOUD ENGINE AND VERY LOUD HUMMING.
I tried these the other day and was astonished by how good they were. I want to upgrade from the sony's but am still unsure about it.
I just got the sony’s xm4 and the audio kinda disappointed me, I tried the pro max in an apple store and wow the audio is AMAZING, did you upgrade or did you stay? I’m considering the same 😅
@@ErinMunizG I haven’t upgraded, but I haven’t been using the Sony’s too much lately bc they make my ears ring for some reason when I wear them a lot, so I’ve been mainly using AirPods. I like the Apple noise cancellation much better and quality because my ears don’t ring when I use it. I think it could be worth the upgrade, since the AirPods Max are being sold around $480 on Amazon now, down from $550. I think I might buy the AirPods Max in the fall when I go back to school if I can’t put up with the Sony’s anymore lol

Hi Marques and everyone! One question, do you notice if your AirPods Max will go to low power mode-disconnected from iPhone/iPad-after being put down and left stationary outside of the Smart Case for longer than 5 minutes? I want to leave my AirPods Max on a stand outside of its Smart Case for quick access, but I notice that the headphones continue to stay on and appear connected to my iPhone, which drains the battery charge. Any insights would be appreciated!

@@raresradoi39 another example, full metal build is not justified for headphones as it is indeed for a smartphone (since durability is an important factor for smartphones). Combining plastic and metal in a way that matters is much more practical (as many did). Now, I really hope the rest won't start this metal trend...
I’m an earbud guy. Sony XM4, Linkbuds S my daily drivers, and Galaxy Buds+ to fall asleep with and locate where they fell in the morning. But I came here just to see thoughtful look at these wild Apple headphones. I’m really enjoying this channel and just subscribed. I’ve gone from coming here to hear opinions on earbuds before I buy, to watching them for pure entertainment. Super interesting and relaxing vids. Count me a new fan. Cheers!
