    Nice clean job on the rigging. I used to buy all my trolling lures and I'm now getting into making my own. I like the shrink tube and wire. Very nice and informative.

      @@ReelHazardous for wahoo I like the bullet head black and purple islander skirt I added a tinsel insert. I also use squid skirts in black and orange or red and black. I usually put mylar or tinsel inserts for flash effect. I recently made a concave head blue and white skirt with a blue and white sea witch in front to troll with rigged squid or ballyhoo for Mahi on 130lb mono. I haven't started using the braided cable yet but I will soon cuz i really like the strength and clean finish when using the shrink tube on the cable.

    Suggestion to others:
    Add more spacers before you finalize everything!
    You may as well keep as much skirt as possible considering wahoo are gonna cut it anyways
    Tight lines!

    Great vid mate! The trick about wrapping the 2nd hook shank with wire is very effective. Thanks for sharing.

    I’m with you brother! Been making our own high speed Wahoo plugs for awhile now. Cannot wait for the fall Wahoo run! Hope all is well. Sorry we missed you this year for mini-season in the Keys. - Capt Dan

      Awesome Capt. Dan! Are they totally custom lures or do you have a favorite kind that you buy and rig up? No problem, hopefully we'll get back down soon and can meet up!

    Do you ever rig the two hooks so that they are 180 degrees of each other. One hook facing one way, and the other pointed the opposite way? Do you know what is more effective?

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  2 года назад

      I don’t do that for Wahoo. When I got into high speed trolling for wahoo all the local guys advised me not to rig it with the hooks offset like that. I keep both hooks pointed the same way and do well. I’m not saying it won’t work the other way, I just haven’t needed to.

    Keep doing shoes like this. It's great. Sometimes u get out there then a school of mahi arrives by surprise. Better do what you do than going through a mess trying to catch the maji making n mess n step on Rods. Wahoo's run all year round in the keys if u have the spots but some months are very abundant.

      @@ReelHazardous Best time in the fall. They are pletifull but they hang out over wrecks n hills year round. Speed is the key n speed troll for everything. Even maji. Have a great one guys. U cover much more ground.

    Nice instruction. Can you put a rigged ballyhoo behind the skirt or do you fish it plain?

    • @ReelHazardous

      For high speed I just use the lure. I have another video though where I show how to rig some ballyhoo lures that get pulled fast for wahoo if that helps.

    Thanks for the awesome video!
    1st question - What about using a swivel at the end of the wire leader?
    2nd Question - Wire leader coming our from the lure head, can be shorter like 15cm then a swivel?
    Thanks from Malaysia!

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  Год назад

      Thanks for commenting all the way from Malaysia! You could do a swivel at the end but since I’m using a snap swivel to connect my line to the lure I felt it was redundant. I try to use as little tackle as possible if I can. You could do a short leader as well. I’ve run just mono before even. It’s just more of a risk they will cut it off.

    When you deployed your bait do you put any kind of bait on your hooks like for example Bonita strips or just plain? Thank you very informative video

    • @ReelHazardous

      I just do it plain but I have been wondering if a strip of bait might help. I’ll try it this upcoming season.

      Also, would be a great video to see how you rig up and use the Planar's, what type of bridle system, etc? I know you do a lot of high speed, but would be great to see more about the planar style.

    How do you get the multi strand wire to stay together when you cut it? Every time I make a cut in the wire the multi strand unravels. Thanks in advance

    Enjoyed watching your made to perfection STIFF rig. Would you say that this style gives the riggidity and stiffness i need or better to double the wire by twisting hence having a double twisted wire for the whole rig?

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  2 года назад

      Thanks, we appreciate you watching the video! I’ve tried the way in the video and the double twisted rig. I think both are good but I think this particular heat shrink makes for a stiffer rig. You could always double twist the wire and then put heat shrink over it for extra stiffness though if you wanted.

    How do you like trolling a magbay

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  4 года назад

      I like them. I started trolling the 16 ounce a few years ago and it has been one of the top producing wahoo lures in the spread. I usually troll it with a 24 or 32 ounce weight.

      Reel Hazardous I’m a big fan of there lures two just havent had as much success but good to know

    • @Grady252
      @Grady252 4 года назад

      Interesting, thought these types of lures did not require added weight? You do this just to get deeper or keep in the water? Where is most successful position in the spread?

    Now show me how you rigged the one when the Wahoo drove the hook into your ice chest. :)

      That lure that went in the cooler was actually pretty much the same rig as in the video the only difference was I was using black electrical tape instead of heat shrink. Heat shrink is a little better for stiffness but they both catch fish and probably coolers for that matter lol

  • @gtconqueror2864
    @gtconqueror2864 4 года назад

    Does the stiff rig hold well when the fish shake their heads during the fight?

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  4 года назад

      Yes this rig does well with that. I haven't had one come off yet. I keep the boat moving forward so there is always tension on it and I think the cable above the hooks offer enough flex for the head shake.

    This is dumb, rig the hooks correctly on the lure, and no cutting the lure

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  Год назад

      You can rod it either way. I am more concerned about the spacing of the hooks and there relation to the head of the lure. I used to just move the hooks back and leave the skirt full size but I think I’d rather trim off the skirt if I can get a better hook set ratio and control how the lure swims.
