You and Carlos rock! One of the best and most informative fishing shows out there. I used some info you gave from a few kingfish videos to hook up last year. Very much appreciated. Nice touch with the cooking section at the end. Huge fan!
I like the big nomad purple and black or purple and white striped lipped lures for wahoo too. If I put one in my spread, 9/10, the nomad gets bit first...
Another fantastic learning experience - for the novice as well as a refresher course for those of us who fish the Stream as much as possible. The depth and breath of Florida Sportfishing is always outstanding - and the video is the best, hands down. That said, I would like to know what snap-swivels and swivels you folks use, if it isn't a trade secret:-) Can't wait for the next edition!
Do you have much success with light colored lures such as white over blue or white over pink? Also, do you prefer your hooks to be rigged inline or have a 180 degree offset?
I try and mix it up and have caught fish on nearly every color combo, but for wahoo I always prefer the darker patterns that mimic bonito, blackfin, etc.
Hi there captain Mike. I have a quick question for you. I have just recently purchased a new Daiwa tenacom 1000 and was wondering if it had the capabilities to reel up a sword fish. If it does, do you mind suggesting the proper line test? And where to get weights? Rigs? Thanks!
Congratulations Capt Mike & team, say again: your videos are very entertaining and educational, you cover the whole spectrum related not only to wahoo fishing but other saltwater and freshwater species as well. It is amazing to discover new tricks and techniques to improve your catches. I would like to know the cable length you use on terminal tackle. I use 10-13 ft (3-4 mts) of Mason 49 strands 275 lbs test stainless steel cable, are you using a similar length or a little bit shorter? Thank you so much for your response.
Those sharp teeth definetely are dangerous. About a week ago a wahoo put me in the emergency room, cut my leg open in four different places and watching you put your hand so close to his mouth scared the hell out of me.
Pulled it into the boat and into the icehole, but when taking it out of the icehole a little while later it slipped out of my hand and sliced down my foot, straight to the bone. 26 stitches and about a week in bed was enough to recover.
I have been fishing down here for a year now and had no idea the depths or the speeds to do this being a totally self-taught fisherman. My hats off to you for sharing this invaluable information guys! I will be going out later in the week and trying this. I just love this show since its so detailed and specific. Im going to be releasing all mine by the way so someone can catch them again after I give them a stern warning. My only question is how long do you troll between bites normally? It appeared to be a pretty slow day, with only a couple of bites... is this normal?
Keep in mind we only high speed troll from dawn until 9:00 or 10:00AM, a few hours. Sometimes zero bites, sometimes 3 or 4 bites. Sometimes one bite. - Capt Mike
Thanks for your reply here! Thats really good to know. Two hookups in a few hours of trolling for really high quality gamefish is well worth it in my opinion. Thanks again.
Florida Sport Fishing_ Oh okay. Thanks. I don't use lead to carry my skirts down; however, they (wahoo) keep cutting my 100lb mono where it connects to the 4ft wire leader. I am puzzled as to why.
Good morning and thanks for watching, no question is stupid. The answer is it depends on where we're fishing and the conditions. Sometimes we're trolling beam-to when wind and seas are from east and sometimes up or down sea if its blowing down the beach. All depends on conditions. - Capt Mike
Good eye. I moved to a new house where there is a fixed bridge, and I couldn't fit under it during the last hour of the high tide thru the first hour of outgoing, so bye bye tower. Life is a compromise. - Capt Mike
Thanks capt mike! Great video! Hey you mentioned that you should keep your shock leader to no more than 50 feet, any reason other than difficult to manage getting the fish to the boat? Also do you hard tie the yozuri bonita directly to your shock leader (mono) or use any steel cable? I am always worried about getting it bit off. Thanks from big pine key!
No more than 50 ft. otherwise the lure will ride higher up in the water column, idea is for it to track on a horizontal plane w/lead. I rig my lures with no less than 3 ft. of 275 multi strand. - Capt Mike
Looked like a nice little appetizer to me. It was a 50lb plus wahoo, it's got more than enough meat to try any and every recipe you want. It's delicious as sashimi or sushi but my favorite way to eat wahoo is straight off the grill.
I use the size 1 and 1/0 Mustad hooks to freeline for snook ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 and they have been fantastic. The points are super sharp, and the hook is small enough to blend with my baitfish, yet large enough to land fish 30" or more. I also use these hooks when I'm pier or surf fishing with my kids. They tend to catch tons of smaller snapper, whiting, and catfish, and we get far fewer gut hooks with these Mustad in-lines, which means more of them survive after release. I was actually using these hooks when I caught my friend too, but I think that had more to do with the bait I was using ;-)
No, with the correct equipment and mindset, high speed trolling is relatively easy. You can also target wahoo with planers and live bait kite fishing. - Capt Mike
Why why why do most video pro's not put the fish directly from the ocean to the Ice? To let a beautiful fish bang all over the deck, ruins the meat makes a real mess, it's dangerous dude almost got bit. Great show just hate the way you drop fish on the deck
Yes, Ive been running Mercury Verados for years, sets of 300s and sets of 350s. Other than very minor issues, like a stuck thermostat in one of the engines, love 'em and couldn't be happier. Reliable, plenty of hole shot and as efficient as could be expected. - Thank you
Can skip them all after 5 sek, and the overkill part is towards rods and reels wich are really heavy stuff for wahoo but i guess they use the same gear for a lot of species.
I've learned a ton from you guys. I'm deployed now, but watching your show will keep me sharp come spring in SC. Keep'em coming!
Thanks man and thanks for everything you do! - Capt Mike
I love your seminars...Very informative...Fish on Capt.!!!
Awesome catch that's what I like about south Florida fishing
Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike

Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
👍Compared to the reos you were using 8 years ago black ones same nthe. That ones you use now are all sting silver
Nice job on the video, information was helpful for experienced and novice anglers alike.
Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Amazing bro thanks

Thanks Phil, when wahoo fishing we're rigging with 300 lb. Diamond Fishing Products rotary ball bearing snap swivels. - Capt Mike
I did some high speed Wahoo trolling and those Wahoo bites are delicious thanks
Awesome, thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
great video like always, like the cooking tip at the end.
Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Congrats from South East Brazil! Nice dish also Cap!👏👏
Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
Beast Wahoooooo! Nice Capt.

Beautiful video...love it...
Thanks again. - Capt Mike

Yes, Mike gottem again
Thanks man. - Capt Mike

Wears gloves to dehook, no gloves to handline. "Lets talk about how we like to lose our fingers"
Capt Mike are you going to be at the Ft Lauderdale Boat show? Also have you used the high speed planers for wahoo? Are they any good?
Yes, our booth is at Bahia Mar, main tent. And yes, we fish planers often for kings/wahoo. - Capt Mike
great info guys....
10-4!
Great episode thx guys! Penn Squall 30vsw (8). Dusky 252
Great Video! How deep would u guess the yo zuri bonita runs with/without weight when trolling at 15knots?
Literally just below the surface, maybe 2 ft. - Capt Mike
Thanks Capt. Mike for the awesome video! What size on the Yozuri Bonita?
Its like 7" and about 5 oz.
Congratulations Capt Mike & team, say again: your videos are very entertaining and educational, you cover the whole spectrum related not only to wahoo fishing but other saltwater and freshwater species as well. Between lure and swivel? 4-6 ft. of 275 lb American Fishing Wire multi strand. - Capt Mike
It ain't what it's all about till it comes off the grill. ;
Nice! - Capt Mike
nice! bite has been pretty good. planning on chasing some wahoo in the keys this winter. how's the bite for wahoo & tuna this time of year?
Solid! Wahoo along the edge BFT on the humps!. - Capt Mike
Great show gentleman! Do you ever target blue marlin? That would be a cool show?
Going to try and do a show this spring. - Capt Mike
Those sharp teeth definetely are dangerous. About a week ago a wahoo put me in the emergency room, cut my leg open in four different places and watching you put your hand so close to his mouth scared the hell out of me.
Damn, you ok? What happened?
Pulled it into the boat and into the icehole, but when taking it out of the icehole a little while later it slipped out of my hand and sliced down my foot, straight to the bone. 26 stitches and about a week in bed was enough to recover.

Woahh.....nice fishing bait i want to try that but i have no lure like that
sick wahoo
Thank you for being a fan! - Capt Mike
What do you clean the eisenglass with? always looks brand new!
Bio Green Clean and hand sponge. - Capt Mike
I pay for RUclips so I do not have to have anybody telling me what I have to buy or not! Sorry for getting into this channel.
Must the leader be wire or can i use mono. if so what lb test?
You definitely want wire. Probably 140 lb would be best.
How does painting the lead white help prevent cut off?
I think it so the fish dont think that is the fish and bight your line and your rigs
Blends in with white water and nowhere near as shiny so gets bit far less. - Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing_ Oh okay. Thanks. I don't use lead to carry my skirts down; however, they (wahoo) keep cutting my 100lb mono where it connects to the 4ft wire leader. I am puzzled as to why.
Wondering what the two buckets are for at the back?
Sometimes we coil the trolling leads and leaders in them when moving to a different area. - Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing
Oh okay, thought maybe you were scenting the lures....
so do yall like trolling up sea? down sea? sidways?
Very intelligent Nathan - you might even make a good US Senator with your IQ
fuck off..
More intelligence from Nathan, what Correctional Facility did you graduate from?
piss off

What rod and reel combos were you guys using
Alutecnos 50Wides matched to Chaos Rodzilla 60-130. Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
lovely episode. how much feet of line you troll with? - from Trinidad & Tobago
150 - 400 ft. back. - Capt Mike
Nice can you do a video on catching Albies, tackle, lures etc?
What was the weight of the lure heads for the rigs?
They vary depending on the lure, usually 8-16 oz.
Hola desde Panama....
Bro God trolling
Cool video but way to many commercials when RUclips has enough commercials as it is.
can you make video of high speed trolling for king mackerel ? thanks
We typically don't high speed troll for kingfish, we high speed troll for wahoo (12-18 knots). - Capt Mike
Do you ever use fin nor reels?
no. Capt Mike
Why is there no tower on the see vee?
Good eye. I moved to a new house where there is a fixed bridge, and I couldn't fit under it during the last hour of the high tide thru the first hour of outgoing, so bye bye tower. Life is a compromise. - Capt Mike
what time did you do it
This was shot in the fall but you can catch wahoo 365 days a year! Where do you fish? - Capt Mike
Thanks capt mike! Great video! Hey you mentioned that you should keep your shock leader to no more than 50 feet, any reason other than difficult to manage getting the fish to the boat? Interesting, did not think about that. Thanks
How far does a shotgun have to be
Depends on overall spread, boat, tackle etc but I like to fish a shotgon way back there, like at least 100+ yards. - Capt Mike
👍
Unbelievable. Catch beautiful eating fish like Wahoo just to drown all the flavour out by covering it with eggs, bread and mayo. 😝
Looked like a nice little appetizer to me. It was a 50lb plus wahoo, it's got more than enough meat to try any and every recipe you want. It's delicious as sashimi or sushi but my favorite way to eat wahoo is straight off the grill.

good deal.I see a lot of higher end boats running them but around here (Florida panhandle) they have a really bad rap.
yall hiring?
No, sorry.
first
Nice! - Capt Mike
If at first you don’t succeed keep on sucking till you do suck a seed
Love it!
Hmm the most overkill advertising show i have ever seen....
MrKveite1 atleast the ads are part of the actual video so you can just fast forward them, not like a youtube ad where you can't skip it.
Can skip them all after 5 sek, and the overkill part is towards rods and reels wich are really heavy stuff for wahoo but i guess they use the same gear for a lot of species.
too much talking not enough fishing
Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
I'm outta boca raton fl .. who wants to fish ..
I do! - CM
