@@lazypaladin I nearly got kicked out of class for laughing at the crucible but that scene where the preacher says "yes this proof has been disproven but since it existed in the first place it is still proof" (paraphrased) was just too good
can we get a supercut of every time Jon has said "I trust Adam" in social deduction games and then immediately lost. I feel like this isn't an uncommon occurance
I mean, she (Jon's character) was a beggar, and the rest of the villagers were some mean dumb old people, so if you think about it, she got a happy ending in the end. If you think the game as being played by the characters and not the players, the narrative becomes so much cooler
This would make a delicious story, especially with Abigail as the creepy child, using her seeming innocence to get people executed left, right and center for being witches when she's actually one herself. I can totally see an ending scene, where Good is distraught at getting two innocent people killed, and then Abigail comes to her and convinces her that that is actually a very good thing she did, as now she as no reason to stick with the stupid townsfolk and she can leave them behind and join her to become a witch. End credits: Abigail and Good, and whatever character Sully was playing, who had been freshly resurrected, flying off into the moonlight as a huge fire consumes Salem.
How to play this game in history class: Tell your students that you'll play this game. But during setup don't put any witch cards in. They'll all be townsfolk, but everyone is certain there are witches in Salem and accuse each other.
I played a social deduction game "Battlestar Galactica Board Game" and the person who set it up didn't put any of the bad people in the game so we all were accusing each other and we actually almost lost the game to nobody so I feel this so heavily.
Dead of Winter, this can actually happen, you can play a zero traitor game and never know! Alternatively, any game with Atheist on the script in Blood on the Clock Tower!
I know about a history class that did something similar, where they told the students that some of them were witches and they had to find them, and if they succeeded they would pass, but if they didn't get rid of the witches, they would get an F, except there weren't any witches
Spoiler for one of the scenerios for Betrayal Legacy.... One of them is literally that exact situation. Told there was a witch so we are all killing eachother off one at a time and turns out there was never a witch at all. Just one remaining survivor.
GILES COREY is literally one of the most badass human beings to have ever lived! He categorically refused to go along with all the witch trials and when he was condemned to being pressed by massive stones. All he said while being pressed to death was “MORE WEIGHT” because he still wouldn’t go along with the fake accusations. Giles Corey is a savage 🔥
The real reason why he did that was because if he offered a plea, the government could confiscate his lands. By refusing to enter a plea, his family was able to keep the lands after his passing. The pressing was intended to FORCE him to enter a plea, but since he was likely to die regardless with the grim nature of the Salem Witch Trials, he just refused to do so. He had initially believed the accusations until accusations were made against him, so he did not categorically refuse them or get condemned to being pressed to death, he was pressed to death because he basically realised he was screwed no matter what plea he made, and refused to give one, and kept saying more weight to try to speed up his own demise. It was intended to be torture, not to flatout kill him the way it did. He was an old man being tortured because a child accused him of being a wizard with no way out who did what was best for his family, knowing he and his wife were likely both gonna be dead. It was a tragedy that he was ever put in such a situation. The way he endured was still impressive, but much of the circumstances were still horrifying and he was in many ways, just an ordinary old man who chose to put his children first not some badass that protested or challenged the system that so easily fell for the words of children. He fell for it just as easily as everyone else did until he was accused. He showed impressive will at the face of his fate, but that only came when he was already doomed, not when his wife was being accused of being a witch or random townsfolk. He's not some folk hero, he's just one of those people that was fine with the leopards eating faces solution to problems until it was his face at risk and recognised too late how easily this led to innocent people like himself being stuck between only bad choices and no salvation, so he just took the Least Bad Choice and was one of the few people with that foresight. Like when X comes for Y, but you are not Y, so you say nothing. Then X comes for Z, and you are not Z, so you say nothing. Then X comes for you, and there is no one left to speak.
It’s also worth noting that the kids could basically accuse whomever and whatever. They only ended because the kid’s accused like the governor’s wife and he wouldn’t let them take it that far. The original kid was the pastor’s daughter in a highly religious town, nobody was gonna contradict her without fear of the church and judge bringing hell down on them. The people they saw as traitors, were oftentimes just not really religious or poor. Also, fun fact. From a forensic perspective (this is what they teach in a forensics class), we don’t have a concrete explanation for the hysteria obviously BUT. We know what likely affected the kids the first time and allowed the accusations to start. Their wheat was infected, which was a lot of what they ate. And coincidentally, the witch trials ended as a famine began. But the thing infecting the wheat coincidentally causes hallucinations and convulsions, what the girls were experiencing that sparked it all. Not to mention, it probably kept it going longer cause they kept eating that wheat. So when this happens to you once, you’re gonna say it happened to other people. And it probably was, just not in a witchy way, in a “Please I’m sick, kill the wheat” kind of way.
8:55 Adam staring into the camera as everyone around him argues about what a Salem accent was in 1692. It just- he's in his own little world. He just wants to explain his little game. Good on you, Adam.
His excitement at realizing Jon could win with the witches at the end felt so wholesome and sweet. Now, granted, I have never seen The Traitors, British or otherwise, so I don’t know if he was a traitor on the show and seeming wholesome was one of his specialties, but it *felt* genuine xD

I can't watch because Chelsea - Real Madrid is on in an hour or so.. but you grabbed with the title lol I was obsessed with The Traitors when it came out. Maddy, Wilf, Amanda were amazing.
I had a strong feeling that Adam was one of the witches when he explained how, the fewer cards in the deck, the faster night arrives. His first turn of spreading around 5 accusation cards right off the bat to ensure they would take awhile to get back into the deck outed him.
Ever since watching The Kiss of the Fish Man on their other channel, I keep expecting guest appearances by Ivan Brett (from The Traitors) to be accompanied by an additional guest appearance by Ivan Brett (from The Traitors).
This has to be our most played board game in my gaming group. We play it so often that I went as the game for Halloween one year. Truly, it is a must have for larger game groups. Moderator is a bonus
So much fun! Just a quick rules clarification, if someone dies, even if they don’t have a Witch card, they must reveal whether they ever had one, making them a Witch.
I read the crucible for the 2022 IGCSE literature exam and I wish this was out last year😭😭😭.And now im gonna buy the game to reawaken trauma in my best mates😁😅

That's the best episode of NRB I've ever seen. So so good. Laughing start to finish. Kept the witches a secret for myself made the ending just top notch. Getting my ass over to patreon purely on the strength of that episode. Get Ivan back for more if possible he was great.
I can't watch because Chelsea - Real Madrid is on in an hour or so.. but you grabbed with the title lol I was obsessed with The Traitors when it came out.
Maddy, Wilf, Amanda were amazing.
Adam saying "I'm an 11-year-old child" would probably be hilarious out of context
1:13:45 John: "My social read is broken".
So, should we tell him that there was never a time when it was not?
I loved that ending, John just so happy, but Damn. Also the come stuff just made it even funnier
Wait, I wasn't prepared for a crossover episode 🤯
Ivan is so cute 😆 petition for him to become a regular
P.S. Sully had me crying at 1:16:02 his timing is perfect
Sully flubbing the Statler and Waldorf peanut gallery line about the game being hard killed me 😂 I think it's because I was so tense from the game...
New NRB video.... Best part of the week starts now 😍
jon's green nails live in my brain rent free. im doin it
Love these beautiful witches so much, what an episode!
fun fact: (most likely) No "witches" were burned at the stake in the salem witch trials, instead, most were hung
After all those plays of BOTC it took John till now to conclude that his social read is broken 😂
Jon: “my social read was broken!” Yeah what else is new 😂😂😂😂😂
This has to be our most played board game in my gaming group. We play it so often that I went as the game for Halloween one year. Truly, it is a must have for larger game groups. Moderator is a bonus
This was fantastic. More Salem 1692 please!!!
This is a fantastic get!!! The colab I never knew I needed!!
So much fun! Just a quick rules clarification, if someone dies, even if they don’t have a Witch card, they must reveal whether they ever had one, making them a Witch.
Ivan looks like the long lost love child of Adam Cole and Cameron Grimes and I'm hear for it
I read the crucible for the 2022 IGCSE literature exam and I wish this was out last year😭😭😭.And now im gonna buy the game to reawaken trauma in my best mates😁😅
"Walk into to the prison yard and hit the biggest player in the head" ....that funny I dont see Tom there
Love Jon’s nail polish colour. Unrelated to anything in the video but it’s gorgeous and distracted me every time his hands were in shot 😂
Is this the funniest episode of no rolls barred yet or am I just really high? It may be a bit of both
