SNOW-BLOWING CORN?? | World's Worst Farmer

  • I had a great week that started off with a snow day! We have been having a record snowfall this winter so it is making it difficult to get around on the roads. We got the Westfield auger basically wrapped up after we pulled the flighting and replaced a hydraulic hose. We are gearing up to move more corn, with almost 100,000 bushels to move in the coming months. Repairs are being made on the daily and we are getting closer to plant 2019.
    Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad and brother on the farm. His vision is to teach people what goes on during day to day farm operations. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

      I just had a look at some of their videos and I don't like the guys delivery style. Cole and the others I listed have a very natural feel to the videos. OWL videos are narrated like a documentary and when he is talking on screen himself, he sounds like a talk show host. Thank you for the suggestion but I will be giving it a pass.

    You've asked your fans here to say what they like the most about your video. I don't think I have a favorite part, I pretty much like all of it. The snow was interesting today because I live in Florida and have for almost my whole life so snow is just amazing to me. Thanks for sharing Cole. I know I'll never be at a farm or work at a farm but you're teaching me a lot about how a farm works. The other day driving down the street with some friends and we saw something in a field where everyone looked at this long tube and said what the heck is that? Well I'm the only one that knew it was an auger and what it's for, it amazed me.

    I love this show because of Coles great sense of humor and his new shorter haircut that make him look older and more handsome. As older retired farmers your show brings back great memories of things ewe did in the past. We enjoy watching you and your brother take on tasks that we did 50 years ago. This is the millennial type of young man I am proud and gives me more hope for the future! Here in California, you and your work ethic is getting VERY rare!! Not sure how often your dad lets you know that he did really good ;), but so darn refreshing to see the hard work put into running a farm. I had an idea of the workload, but wow and thank you for sharing your journey!

      In all fairness to the Millennials, nothing kills the work ethic like giving it your all with nothing to show for it but a shrinking paycheck that barely pays the rent. These guys work for themselves and see the results of their hard work. They may have to scrape by some years, but they are the sort of rich that money can't buy.

I'm pretty familiar with augers as I used to work for a company here(called AGI...ag growth international or also known as Batco-Rem) and they manufacture and assemble augers and a few smaller farming equipment. I used to work the small assbly, assembling rollers, pinch guards, axles, other small parts, drive forklift, packaged parts and put together crates for shipment. It was a good place to work and alot of fun! It's so awesome that you show people what farm life is all about. Keep up the fantastic work!!

    on the westfield keep an eye on the cable that connects to that cylinder and lifts the auger. when the auger is down for storage the cables always end up at the same spot at the pulleys and can rust there, but you might not see the rust because it can be on the inner strands. you don't want that cable busting when its raised lol either put some oil on it at the pulleys or just replace the cable once in awhile

    Just found your videos and a am enjoying them. I have a question, it seems that there is a lot of wasted corn or spilled corn on the ground in the videos. Is that usual and an expectable amount ? What is done with the spilled corn ie feed, waste or still sold? Thanks good videos

    • @ColeTheCornstar
      @ColeTheCornstar  6 лет назад +2

      kingslawn That is an excellent question. We try not to spill corn but stuff breaks down from time to time and spills occur. We try to pick it up before it gets bad. If it gets too bad we get rid of it, otherwise we just pick it up and sell it. It's more corn than I'd like to see in the ground but things happen.

    LOL.. I like the tool drawer stickers😎 my youngest daughter got a set for me, they're on the service truck....
    Clutter?? LOL. Your shop is big enough, you shouldn't have clutter... My oldest daughter has been cleaning up the tool boxes in the shop... What a mess!!! Three boxes, all need to be reconfigured and consolidated.. (got my box, my dad's box... Mine now I guess, since he passed away last June.. and a miscellaneous box... Test equipment, measuring tools.... All a mess. Unorganized chaos 😎
    Oh, ya.. I figured you'd have Andy helping you out by now😎

    • @ColeTheCornstar
      @ColeTheCornstar  6 лет назад +2

      Ed Gosselin You'd think it would be impossible to fill it with clutter but we find a way! Took boxes are the hardest to organize because where do you put the miscellaneous stuff that could be categorized in 4 different drawers? You know where everything is though.
      I'm sorry for your loss. We lost my Grandpa last June too.
      As for Andy, I'm still waiting on his response.

      @@ColeTheCornstar sorry to hear about your grandpa😥
      Ya... Tool boxes... LOL!! There are drawers for specific tools, end wrenches, screw drivers... Then the catch-all drawers... The top of my shop box has 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sockets and ratchets.... And a bunch of $#!t... The top drawer is the specialty small parts .. then it's more organized to the bottom 😎
      I'm still putting the new service truck together, new boxes in the front compartment 😎 it's full!!!! Pretty much organized... Trying to organize compartments too. Sad thing is, I'm already out of room... Who would have thought, everything off a one ton pickup would fill a 12' utility box!!??!!??
      It's still a work in progress... Two big boxes to mount on top, one will be just grease, oil and a fuel hose reel... (18"x24"x96") the other, I'm going to make welder lead reels to put in... Hopefully still have room for rod holders and a helmet...
      The day before my dad passed, was the first day the new service truck rolled out of the shop... Equipped enough to get by.. I just hope he looked out the window to see it moving.... (😥Damn Allergies!!!😢) Hopefully he likes it now.. just got a crane on it!! Wish we would have had one years ago!!
      And dangit!! I figured you'd have Andy helping you by now...😎
