Thanks, John. I wish I could say that I can't relate. Life events have kept my own DSM one-of-these-days dreams as just dreams, but I'm resolved to not feel bad about it, and stories like yours help me keep that perspective. Curious ambitious people will always have more ideas than resources to finish them, so learning to live with that gap is just part of the journey. Engineering is tradeoffs. Best wishes on your health!
You were literally one of the first people I spotted when I walked on to the track this year, but you were chatting with someone and I didn't want to interrupt. One of these years I'll introduce myself, I promise.
I wanted to like this video multiple times, but could only do it once. You're a wordsmith, and a poet. Somehow, you make the experieced, but naivete of us car guys seem romantic. Thanks for that. And for stoking the fire of Mitsubishi.
Another great story of how DSM’s have brought good people together. You captured a snapshot of how a platform integrates many life journeys. One of these years hopefully the stars align and we can meet in person at the Shootout. I look forward to seeing the now combo restoration!
Because of people like jhon and jafroO I havnt gave up on my dsm , thank you to all dsmers for passing knowledge and wisdom to others ! And JaffrO your videos have kept me confident to keep doing my own work ,like you once said (you only get this attention to detail when you do your own work ) thank you .
Had a similar trip over a 3 day weekend hauling car and parts pile in a 27 enclosed trailer with a rwd Silverado. Sorta sketchy all loaded down through the hills in PA but made it back with no incident.
I approve of this becoming an all Galant all-the-time channel. Props to John for knowing when you send a car on it's way and not just letting it collect dust.
Found the video more entertaining with the overdubbing! 😁 And now you have more projects we should be getting a video every week, yay? Thanks, as always.
Hey man! Your videos have inspired me to go though the same journey with my Galant that I bought. I can not tell you how much help your videos have made to me, in not only keeping me moving forward but in priceless advice. I bought 934/1000 at the beginning of the summer and have been restoring it to the best of my ability's. it has been a blast and all of the friends that I have made in the process has been amazing. Thank you for making these videos! you are awesome.
I stole a little bit of time from my studying for my a&p exams to watch a bit of youtube. what i didnt expect was a deep discussion about life, death and everything inbetween, but then again I never know what lessons to learn when i click on one of your videos. i'm so glad one happen to come out on the same week as my tests.
Do the thing. You will always have your dreams with you every day above the dirt, so you always have those to look forward to. That's why they call them dreams. But do the thing so you can have all the stuff money doesn't buy. Sounds to me like you're already doing it!
@@Jafromobile I've said many times that the Shootout is the most fun you can have with your pants on. The personal bests on every line of the timeslip was just the icing on the cake for me. See you next year!
It was still crazy we were all hanging out at Wills evo and jafro just shows up and my buddy cameron was like .......wait....... your jafro arent you?? It was cool meeting a dsm legend.
Thanks for the shout out dude! One of these shootouts I’ll remember to get some sort of clip with you 🤦♂️ lol. Can’t wait to see videos of the “new” galant, very cool project!
Wish I could go to an event like that, lots of drool parts.. DSM guys in the states are good folk. I needed 5 lug conversion for my JDM VR4, bloke sold me a set and even went and sourced a second set of hubs then shipped them to me here in Australia, he didn't want money for the hassle just for me to cover costs.
I had originally planned to take the weekend off and visit this, the 30th shootout. But sadly, with family getting sick and some other stuff it didn't work out. Maybe one year. The fact I work EMS though means there's a very solid chance for next year due to how our schedule and sick time works! Love the GVR4, man. So envious. I would kill for one of those.
1:13 AND take up as much space as you possibly could in V.I.P. parking 🚚 Oh Yeah Baby, Richmond, VA and Jafro in da' house you Buckeyes!!!! And 29:28 this is like coming off the first hill on the Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion (without the benefit of having ridden UP the hill and anticipating what was coming next!)
Nice, but, I wanted to ask if you had any OEM BOV Hose you would wanna sell?. Please let me know. Also I'll look at the fellas on social medias, for parts.
you ever do any surf fishing in VA. I miss working on my DSM. oil pressure sensor vibrated out and trashed my crank, warped my cams, cracked two pistons. and i wasnt even getting on it... Its behind my brothers auto shop. just need to get the money together but the housing market is trash and im trying to move out of my camper. its a 2019 its paid off but dang is it hard to find a house at a decent price
@Jafromobile - would any of your Galants benefit from a NOS set of Ralliart Group N hardened rubber engine mounts (RA435537K2, RA436533K2, RA309505K2 & RA309269K2) and a pair of Ralliart RA515634K2 diff bushings? I believe they're all HS90. I also have a Ralliart trailing arm bushing for Galant, but I doubt there is a second one out there to find. They're special pieces and I've had them on the shelf forever reserved for someone who gave up, too. I'd like them to go to good use.
Some of the races are bracket races. Some of it is qualifying. It's not all index racing. The clips here were only selected by the quality of the footage rather than covering the event. Plus I was shooting with the camera I learned to hate last year. Even if I were a skilled videographer, it's just the wrong camera for this. It can't zoom without losing focus. But yeah, in brackets, each driver has a dial-in time that they have to run without going faster or they beat themselves, and the car with the slowest dial-in time leaves first. The fastest dial-in time car's tree is offset by the difference between dial-in times so that they're supposed to cross the finish line together. Additionally, index racing in many venues doesn't factor into the win/loss margin, but at this event, it does. IMO, it should... but I overheard several racers that were upset about that. Apparently it's not like that everywhere, and it caught a few people off-guard. On the qualifying runs, winner or loser doesn't matter,, nobody gets eliminated. They're just trying to run the time for their index class.
@Jafromobile some were not index racing and were also caught sleeping in the left lane. Kevin Jewer and the red demon were 2. But it seemed to be constant in the video in the left lane.

@@FatGuyBuilds I would need to acquire the 1985 Toyota X-Tra Cab Deluxe to install it in first. That truck weighs 2450 lbs. Right now the new project is in the way of clearing my lift of the GSX project. With 5 projects, I'm full right now, but that's one I've always wanted to do. I know other people with projects, and soft spots for 4g's though. 6 bolt or 7-bolt?

Awesome to get another G in the fold. Only you can keep track of so many builds at once. I’m looking forward to seeing them all come together!
Can’t wait to see a better tour of the new GVR4! Can’t wait to see progress in those two Unicorns!

most of us know that feeling. hope the new galant gets back on the road, doesn't matter if it isn't perfect
Great job Miguel! Makes me want to go back even though it’s been 20yrs!

What was going on with the left lane? All those late reactions. Could they not see the tree?
