Wow I came here 1 year ago and this very very helpful to me thanks bro for making this content 😊
@@rlaouse yeah im still here responding to comments, done with the uploading bit
@@GavinosuHighlights how come you don't upload anymore? did you just get burnt out?
@@GavinosuHighlights thanks for the video. I just installed osu yesterday, played 14 hours and sucked hard at alternating.
My brain: Alternating
My instinct: Singletaping
My finger: RIGHT LEFT RIGHT LEFT LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT LEFT
Its single alternate taping

lmao fucking mood
I FUCKING DID IT, ALTERNATING! IT TOOK ME 3 FUCKING DAYS.
Lmaooo this is my problem
Step one: use one finger
Step two: use other finger
*done*

Step three: use both fingers at the same time
funny
lmao funni
Ok
the hardest part is trying to alternate by force, if im not thinking about it but when i think about it It feels uncomfortable. makes me wanna crawl out of my skin and leave this world
that's me but like always
Kayo - osu! I can kinda alternate but it still feels like I’m just spamming the keys and I’m not alternating correctly. I’m not sure when to switch. This really is a big problem for me. Any advise on how to do that? Thanks

I started playing osu! alternating but now find it hard to singletap without starting to alternate. Still kinda a new player tho so idk
for people who want to learn singletapping:
step one
grab your dominant finger
Step two
break the rest of your fingers
step three
only use your only finger
step four stonks
What about streaming? You would have to tap pretty fast

Jokes on you I already know how to alternate was how I always played osu now how do I single tap
That's why punctuations exist.
Same here, how do i single tap?
Same here!
@@rohitbhandari9700 start clicking with only one finger on slower maps (always alternate bursts/streams which you're used to) until you are consistent, then play faster maps with single tap until you're speedy and consistent

Its a simple procedure :
Just look at Z and decide *SMASH* or *PASS*
I've been a single tap player for so long, I'm struggling to alternate
same xD

I’m a full *mouse* player, single tapping on *mouse button* . When I try keyboard alternating taps it’s really inconsistent.
@@fedinsxdi’m 700k rn but i was only single tap and it took me 3 days to alternate to single tapping and now i’m able to do songs i wasn’t able to before bc of single tapping 😭
I think I learned how to alternate in like 20 minutes after a year of single tapping, idk how.
Wish I was you sir
@@leoncalton9330 same xd
you absolute chad
bro how
Yo same but I learned in like an hour
alternating is so hard for me lmao i been single tapping for pretty much a year and everyone says im trash because i cant alternate every song i do i have about 300-500 on X and 5-10 on Z
Love you man! I never tried to alternate before but after getting to 3 to 4 star maps i realised that i need to learn to alternate and after watching your video i learned to alternate within 4 hours of gameplay and guess what i improved my every A score to either S or SS😁 GGs to you man
some people say they can’t learn alternating, my brain literally can’t comprehend doing anything besides alternating.
Ha bold for you to assume I can SS the tutorial
WHAT NO WAY POG
:DDD
I didn’t need the tutorial cuz I already did it on my phone so I know how Osu works without the tutorial
Wait there's a tutorial? Bruh I just downloaded beatmaps of my favorite songs when I was new
@@Akatsuki-21 i downloaded my fav beatmaps before osu 💀
I mainly singletap but I now alternate high bpms (250+) I learned alternating by playing burst maps with full alternate. It sounds weird but it helped me alot. Burst maps like cheatreal, burn this moment into the retina of my eyes, etc.
thanks for this!!!! i just needed motivation to start alternating, and watching this defnitely helped. my mindset has been "oh alternating will just come as i get better, plus im already good at single tapping.." but like.. as im improving i have to strain myself more to single tap really fast maps and i find myself failing, yet im still holding onto this mindset. ive started forcing myself to alternate and focus on my non-dominant, and its helping!! i still have a lot of practice to do tho hahah
I never had to think about alternating my fingers since I went through about 6 years of piano lessons. Moving my keys to F and G helped me a lot
yeah practicing it really slowly is the way to go. i once challenged myself to learn 1.5 star maps where i alternate from button 1 to button 2 to mouse button 1 to mouse button 2. it's like 10 times harder than normal alternating but the slow practice is everything.
thank you helped me so much i learned how to alternate im still not as good as i was when i single tapped but i am very close i will get there soon but for now im only gonna alternate
Thanks bro. Needed this.
This tutorial was so good that now I'm struggling with single tapping after just 5 days of doing this 😂😂. I was a hybrid single tapper for 90 hours total playtime.
If anyone is curious, I basically followed his steps but didn't do it for a month because ain't nobody got time for dat.
1. Switch to your non dominate finger for single tapping for 2+ days. Only alternate if needed such when you need to do burst or streams.
2. After the third day, I started easing in full alternating in lower stars, 2-4 stars (which was a struggle at first but I then got used to it the next day and it 85% muscle memory now).
3. Profit with better finger control which helps stamina and can help with finger control with bursts and streams!
Though be warned, going back to single tap will feel weird and "wasted" and you will lose a lot of accuracy at first
My brain immediately fries from thinking too much when I try to alternate
1:44 caught me red handed, i'm really bad at alternating and figured i had to learn it so i just started force trying on the 5-6 star maps i play but trying to do so not only disrupted my aim but also just made me lose sense of the rythm because i confused myself with it.
that tip on its own is already amazing!
Damn very useful information ty imma try that i had trouble alternating
ty man this helped me a lot
i just started playing osu and i only got 7 hour play time but heard that people who single tapped regretted it and couldnt go back cause they have been singletapping for so long so should i already try to learn to alternate or stick to singletapping until im kinda forced to alternate
jokes on you I was always doing alternate before I even knew what it was
My brain: You should learn how to alternate
Also my brain: Nvm your fingers are too fat
Sometimes I go one finger for a few taps for certain patterns, then switch back to alternating. Feels a little more natural, this video helped alot
I always alternate, but use singletaps on jumps, slow part, and basically the rest of the map
yeah most people do that your tapping method doesn't matter whatsoever then
So streams?
thank you so much this helped me alot
literally just beat a map ive been trying at for days after practicing for like 30 minutes
thank you i love you no homo
wait so if my middle finger is my dominate finger I train by playing any map on my index finger?!
This video is helping a lot honestly. Noticed I haven't been able to improve past maybe a 6 star map (forget even FCing a map), and single tapping was unfortunately the main culprit. After a couple days I'm already seeing progress, I can mostly alternate on 4-5 star maps. Its just now i cant start a stream with my usual finger, feels so weird lol.
Great vid. In 1 hour i was able to alternate 5 stars. Very badly but still
so i just started 4-5 stars so do I go down to like 2 stars and 3 stars on the finger I'm trying to train, also around what star level should I start alternating
Man single tapping high bpm then trying to learn alternating is like the hardest thing ever cuz basically you have to get your non dominant hand to be on par with your dominant hand and that could take months.
thanks a lot mate, within like 2 hours im doing just as well alternating as i was single tapping
sometimes i alternate my fingers without even thinking but when there are fast jumps i try to single tap them and end of missing a bunch. hopefully this video will help me break out of that habit and alternate on faster bpm jumps
Is there a good map for starting alternating cuz I miss easy notes, that i don’t usually miss with single tap.
Hey dude I'm a complete noob I only have less than 20 hours but I try these and I've noticed a massive improvement after a day I'm able to get an A on a lot more star maps ☺
this video helped a lot thx
what so alternating is clicking with your finger and then with the other, and repeating that process?
i tought it was the normal playstyle...i always alternate since i started playing osu
I got to the first part of learning to single tap with my non dominant finger, but when bursts come up i just completely freak out and my fingers literally dont know what to do:/ it's a long way to go for me
thanks i will use these tips :)
I had this problem where when I would do jumps I would go back to single tapping since I was more comfortable but I just slammed jump maps and forced myself to alternate then I defaulted to it. It took me around 2-3 hours.
The best part is. 5 years ago alternating was considered inaccurate and bad, now we're reaching a point in dif at the highest level where you HAVE to alternate unless you have inhuman finger control
I started off as a full alternator cuz I thought it was the normal way to play, i constantly overtap/mis-tap when its too fast
for me when i press 2nd key it just counts like i didnt press anything at all wtf help
I acutally used this vid as a platform to help me learn how to alternate now i got it down and i enjoy the game more so 10 outta 10 would recommend
I just started yesterday and now I got the hang of it, it just feels weird when you know you're doing it. But in my opinion alternate tapping is better than single tapping. It's so much easier
Great vid my man. But i have a question though, I can pretty much alternate now but the awkwardness when starting a burst or streams using my non-dominant finger is still there. Is this normal and I can overcome it just by playing it more? Thanks!
The best thing you can do is to learn to single tap using your non dominant finger. That's probably the key takeaway to avoid that.
I found save that shit really helpful for learning how to alternate and after getting more used to it I found harder, better, faster, stronger far out remix to be helpful
Thanks this vid helped out a lot.
Glad to hear it!
I know this video is old but heres a cool tip for anyone wanting to do this! With every key you press hold your finger down on that key you just used when hitting then switch and release when hitting the other circle! (It's probably gonna be weird for some people but that's just how it is when learning a new skill)
thank you for the help, i'll start practicing today :).
Right imma do step 1 guys.... I'll come back in like a month when im done so wish me luck
wheres the update
wheres the updte
where’s the update
You good now?
update comming soon?
In 1h i'm finally learned. Now i can pass better with alternate 4 stars without problems, than with single click
Single tapping is normal to me (im only used to using one or two fingers per hand, ADOFAI moment and even then i suck at that), and I understand what you mean about “forcing yourself to alternate”. I kept forcing myself to alternate on 2.5-3 star maps and I immediately noticed a drop in accuracy
Im new to osu, should I alternate every single tap? Or only on sliders im not really sure
thank you for saving my index finger.. i was so determined to single tap I made it to 4 star, until pain set in
Same. The tendon in my ring finger has been fucked for like 2 days now because I zoned out while I was about to finish a 4 star. The happiness lasted for about 5 seconds before I realized how bad I fucked up my hand
Alternate tapping arc starts!
Started with alternate tapping, instinctively used single taps because I can follow rhythms that way, hand gets tired, boom dead.
I've been playing osu on and off for 7 years and still don't alternate. Granted, I play the game more for fun rather than trying to beat scores but I feel like I need to learn this so I can finally play harder maps. I've been stuck on maps that are about 3.5 stars for years
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I ended up quitting the first day of practice but the next day the alternate tapping skill magically appeared, thank you so much!~
edit: I can do 5 stars with singletap and now I can do 7 stars with alternate (in only around 3 hours)
You got this! Good job
yo did you legit go from 5 stars to 7 stars in 3 hours
how can you do 5 stars while single tapping ??
@@Yaochii1303 pre easy
@@yourasianchum3659 yeah figuring out
Does it count as alternate if i only single tap only on jumps? :v
Just use the alternate mod on osu lazer and play really low star maps and keep working your way up in difficulty until you get to where you were before. It will not be fast but it works pretty well
I single tap most of the time but ALWAYS start doubles, triples, and streams with my middle (non-dominant) finger, so whenever I get into back-to-back triples, I always have a hard time getting through to it. So I've been practicing starting streams with my index (dominant finger). But I end up STILL starting with my middle :(. Which brought me to the conclusion of not playing maps with back-to-back triples :).
I started playing 4 days ago. I didn't know we can use x key until now. I can only play 3 star maps. Is this normal or am I that bad?
I need to learn how to alternate since it feels like I can’t hit faster jumps and my key isn’t responding fast enough
shush single tapping is awesome
How do you double tap like i tried different keybinds but never works please someone help me.
ive been single tapping since i started osu and ive grown into it
i cant alternate even if i think about it
ill try your method :D
Left right left right
my finger : mash the keyboard
my fingers get confused which one should tap next lmao, help.
@@Navi405 Im ok with alt tapping now, but my pc just suddenly wont run osu anymore. p a i n
I can alternate but my speed was the problem, I'm comfortable with 155 BPM, my max speed was 195 BPM and i die on 200+ BPM streams what should i do to improve it?
been trying this for two months and still cant alternate. I tell myself left then right but I end up going left left and fail the song. I guess ive hit my hard skill cap....
but i cant go more than 3.5 star maps withg singeltap since i have only playe 5 hours lmao but what should i do
I don't really have fun trying to alternate or singletap, since I'm a Pen-only user...but at some point I can't with the "spam hitting?" anymore so A LOT OF PEOPLE said I had to learn alternate so that I could pass those levels..and I'm not having fun not getting past them..but I also don't have fun trying to learn alternate..what do I do now?
the more you do something the better you get
i practiced for like a year and i still cant do it heh- im used to finger alternating with my right hand. but i can only use/hold pens with my right hand so its just a huge mess
i use ring finger as dominant, my bad habit is i always singletap outside of triples and bursts, i singletap everything including doubles so im out of stamina really early. i learn really hard on improving finger control and i figured that i should learn to alternate properly first. im planning on being a hybrid player coz i'm comfortable with singletap, but alternate is an essential in certain map
Because once you start playing above 3 stars, it’s almost impossible to single tap because the notes are just gonna be everywhere and you’ll miss them if you only single tap
@@narutoninjagoandtheflashar4256 yeah, i can single tap 4* and a few 5* (ofc not entirely, except some triples and bursts) and because i'm trying to be a speedplayer i think fingercontrol is important and i'm gonna need to learn it eventually even as a nomod player
Acha Erlangga damn! Look at you. And I still can’t even play 3 star maps yet (barely) with really bad scores so it affects my percentage and I don’t get enough pp from those songs
3:34 ok but literally what is the problem with alting but not full alting
like full alting and alting aren't the same thing and there are plenty of players who soft alt and are completely fine with it. there's literally no problem with alting and not full alting
there's no issue. this video is teaching people how to full alternate. it's just a bad habit because you won't be able to tap as fast as if you fill alternated

I just started osu again cuz I covid and I can't play on my ps5 so I'm using my mom's very old laptop and it really hated those double taps before sliders so I just started alternating my fingers to the beat so I started doing like a s a s a s until I learned it in about 10 minutes and i cant single tap anymore
omg bruh thanks for video i learned how to alternate in 4 hours and now im flying through the 3 stars
seriously, 4 days i told myself i am learning alternate. I played for a while but I always switched to one tap in middle of a game. After that, I did a little better and even better with low stars. 4 days later, i.e. yesterday I turn on osu and suddenly instinctively on a 5 star map I started alternating XD
So kids, alternating is not that difficult, at first I was missing everything and my head was empty i actually dont know how to click this XD and after just a few hours of playing I can't imagine how I could be one-taping only player (except streams bursts)
tysm!! big help

Idk, I switched from single tap to alternating but still start streams with the same finger, I'm used to it now so
you stream with 1 finger?
@@ArottingPast no i think he means he starts streams with his dominant finger
Thanks this helped but it will be odd switching my hand for the mouse
Wait, idk wat alternating is? pressing both of the keys? bc I started the game with that
Just started playing osu in February and was using the mouse to click for 2 months it wasn’t till earlier this month I started single tapping which took me like 2 weeks to get used to, now my next hurdle is this 😖😖
Im only here to learn Alternating just so I can mix it with single tapping
Just because Alternating only feels really comfortable at certain section
Been single tapping for 5 months and it’s so hard to learn alternating cause I can’t really follow rhythms that well.
I'll be honest I used to single tap and hated it, then after a week of not playing I came back with the mindset to alternate and it just happened, no training or anything, just a bit to get used to but I was fully capable of alternating, though I did hear somewhere that its better to take a break from osu if you want to change playstyles
its been around an hr and im almost back to my level i was when i was single tapping
I started playing osu 3 days ago and should I start learning how to alternate?
Also if someone has trouble focusing whilst alternating like me for exmaple. When i started alternating after watching this video my aim would worsen by 65-ish % and i missed almost every note.
Try just playing normally as you always do on a 4-6 star map depending on your OSU ADHD levels [ I can't stand slow levels ] and help out with your alt finger. Keep single tapping and sometimes try to help yourself on those combos or jumps even tap-slides as much as you can instead of trying to alternate the entire time. Help your dominant finger out with your alt finger sometimes, but often enough for you to get used to the feeling and eye to hand coordination.
thx helped a lottttt
THAANKU YOU SOOOO MUCH MAN I STARTED ALTERNATING LIKE in 2021 jan forgot to commend this so commending this today
