If you wanted to learn something legit about games you would go there. But it was closed down due to the CIA attacks on piracy, they been going crazy on this closing down tons of websites. I can't remember when it was. That website wasn't even pirating games, they were dead wares but still they closed down themselves anyways, they didn't want to take chances. I started collecting for the PS2 right when the PS3 came out. At one point prices dropped so much I got games like Obscure for $5. I got Rule Of Rose for $20. I got all 3 Xenosaga games for $40. I got Silent Hill Shattered Memories for $40 a year ago. My local store had it priced wrong. I started game collecting back in 2002. I got lucky and always collected when games were at their low point. When prices went up I moved on to other systems. I've always been ahead of the curve buying stuff when no one wanted it. My game collection on price charting is well over $20,000. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not getting Kuon for $50 and Hagane SNES for $50. At the time I thought that was too much money.

      They are the most desired genres. It sell well and when they stop printing people tend to not sell their copies unless they don't know what it is nor are gamers. For example SH2,3,4 on PS2 here in Europe had a last batch to my knowledge back in 2016 and it sold day one. I had to reserve them sort of like a pre-order. And old games here are often printed over and over again as budget games for PC. Mixed generations of people tend to go back to the PS2 era games because they offer the most and are that perfect balance in visuals, not too dated. Anyways tells you that the PS2 is still the most popular and modern day gaming pretty much a joke and for many a dead thing because it doesn't offer anything.

    • @Rivershield
      @Rivershield 3 года назад

      Survival horror seems to be a genre with an specially passionate, but small community. The genre was HUGE in the PS2 specially due to Silent Hill 2, which inspired many devs to give their try in the genre. Unfortunately, most of them did not have the marketing teams and legacy appeal of other bigger companies (like in Kuon's case).
      Either way, the passionate fans of the genre were always there to make sure every single copy avaible was in their collections, which is why many of those games are rare.
      Personaly, I cannot understate how much I miss the quality and passion that was put in the genre back then.

      True! I only saw one myself, but its so rare and obscure that I dont think most collectors even know that variant even exists. 99.9% of the Final Fantasy X SquareEnix logos are the red, greatest hits label. I guess just a couple hundred black labels of that variant were ever made. I saw a used, un-graded copy just sell on ebay for about $500. So yeah it is very hard to find.

    I remember playing the original .hack series. Another thing about the data drain ability was that each time you used it your character would be corrupted, and there was a chance of side effects happening down the line. The odds of a side effect happening was half the rate you were corrupted, and the severity of the effect was based on your corruption level. If for some reason you reached 100% corruption, then one of the side effects that could happen 50% of the time with further uses of data drain or it's more powerful forms was getting a game over if you weren't lucky.
    Another thing that I liked was that there was a side quest in the 3rd game that you could only do if you had some key items that you could only get if you imported a cleared save file from the 2nd game which was where you could only get said items, and if you had gotten said items before importing the save at the start of the 3rd game. I'm not sure what the requirements for each were, but I seam to remember you had visit "Delta Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground", IE where your partner Black Rose has you take her when you first meet her in the 1st game, after completing certain parts of the story if I remember right.
    Also in the 3rd game was a line from Orca's partner Balmug(spelling?) that's stuck with me to this day.
    "I appear to have lost myself in hatred, of the power of the bracelet. The power itself is nether good nor evil, there are only evil intentions. I'm sorry."
    I might have miss remembered the exact wording, but that's more or less how it goes.

    I stopped by a garage sale 2 weeks ago, and found a milk crate full of ps2 and snes games and 2 snes game councils a sega genesis, sega Saturn and a blue game boy color… I paid 10$ for everything!!!! Some of the games included earthbound snes, crono trigger snes, silent hill ps2, obscure ps2, and lots more… I had no idea what they were worth at the time either.. but I buy and sell on eBay and mercari so I posted some, I sold obscure for 295$ and earthbound for 350$ crono trigger for 210$ and I still have lots left!! 😂 plus I bought a whole box of PC games and I haven’t even gotten to them yet.

    Sky Gunner and Gitaroo Man, they're getting into $200+ territory and for a good reason. Both are absolute gem of a game. King's Field IV is getting up there with every increasing Souls game fanbase. Gradius V is getting into $90+ and even at that price I would urge anyone to pick it up. It represent the pinnacle of not only the Gradius series but side-scrolling shooter in genre in general. With the genre unfortunately disappearing rapidly into obscurity, a side scrolling shooter of this quality and production value will never be made again in the modern days. It doesn't have a good business case, but more importantly we simply do not have developers anymore with a specific talent and sensibility that of the Treasure team.

    Xenosaga is a great series, if I remember, it was originally supposed to be 6 games but there was disagreament between the artists in the team and financial problems made the development of the second game kinda rocky, they had to cram all the rest of the story into the second and third game. I had to buy all three a few years ago together with the guide books because it was one of my biggest regrets in life was trading them in 12 years ago for credit for some other games. Now I will never sell them again.
    My other biggest regret was trading the first three .hack games. I never got a chance to buy the 4th one, but by the end of the third one I was burned out due to to much repetitive dungeon exploration that I got really bored, the story is great though. I plan to search for them and buy them again, for now I use PCSX2 emulator with isos to play it.
    I was able to hunt down all 4 Onimushas, and FF X and FFX-2, Xenogears for the PS1 and both Parasite Eves. Some games are just too good to ever part with.
    I'm very happy with these lists you do, it has introduced me to a lot of games I never heard and seem very interesting.
