level 5 was fire back in the ps2 era. dark cloud, rogue galaxy, dragon quest 8

I feel like playing dragon quest 8 becuase of artstyle and adventure but is the combat boring and is the story good? Cuz im not much of a fan of turn based the only turn based i enjoyed so far is radiant historia in 3ds

Rogue Galaxy (Japanese: ローグギャラクシー, Hepburn: Rōgugyarakushī) is an action role-playing video game developed by Level-5 and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2. The game was released in Japan in December 2005, in North America in January 2007, and in most European countries and Australia in September 2007. A Director's Cut of the game was released in Japan in March 2007, which includes all of the added features and improvements made for the North American and European localizations. In December 2015, the game was made available for the PlayStation 4 through the PlayStation Network.

It was rereleased on the PS4 and it runs and plays really good.
Got some gems in there. I remember picking up Eternal Poison (and the bulk of my collection, tbh) for dirt cheap during Gamestop's PS2 purge.
I booted it up not expecting much, but the almost pixel art style blew me away.
Anywho, this video has earned my sub!
Great video, I think this is the first time I actually saw how you look haha! Majority of these games I have or had already back then on the PS2! definitely great JRPGs! I love that genre the most so I have played soo many as a child back on the PS1 and forward.

@@thatvideogamesshow Haha, that's good! I like that, always good to change things up, I should do the same with my videos too. Yes, I miss those days too playing my brothers in many games from the PS1 and PS2 era. Indeed to start collecting more games for both consoles too.

One thing about Radiata Stories that was also great - the hilarity during battles. Sometimes I would purposely avoid enemies to watch what my allies would do, or purposely get hit/knocked down to see their reactions. The battles are fun and sometimes a little slapstick-y. And it's a game that doesn't take itself too seriously which I think is very interesting. PS2 is my favourite era for RPGs, especially ones from Japan.
Radiata Stories friggin rules. It's always nice to have games that don't take themself too serious but can also be very good.

Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favorite RPG's of all time. (Dark Chronicle). I'm about to play through it again right now.

Great video! I'm not a fan of RPGs but I played Radiata Stories and Dark Chronicle (also known as Dark Cloud 2) and loved them! I would also like to mention Steambot Chronicles, I have very fond memories of that game, especially the music!

I saw gladius in a videogame magazine I had along time ago and always wanted to play it, finally bought a copy for Xbox for $12 dollars and I will say it was well spent! That game is a blast!
Thank God, you finally had a video with you in it. All this time, no offense, I thought the voice was a computer generated voice. You are very monotone and have the same cadence in your voice. All this time, I thought someone typed in your narrative and a computer program did the vocal narrative.
In my view , front mission is one of the most underrated RPG from the ps2 . it is a super cool game which has a very well elaborated storyline , sadly I have never seen any channel talking about that great and underrated RPG
Luckly for you there doing all three in current gen remastered.
I've been playing rougue galaxy on ps now and damn......... it's really good. Keep doing exactly what you're doing man... the quality on this channel will only make it bigger

Great video, Dark Chronicle is a great game and a favorite of mine but I'm so glad you mentioned Legaia 2: Duel Saga. I love that game and it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Radiata stories released pretty late. My mother picked it up for me for 15$ for Christmas as it was one of the only PS2 games still being sold that holiday season. I remember having a decent time with it. It looked polished. The gameplay was ok. It was fun trying to figure out how to recruit all the different characters.
My favorite RPG of all time is Shadow Hearts: Covenant. Not sure if it's underrated, considering how highly it's regarded by people who have played it, but it's certainly unknown. An absolutely brilliant game with some really cool systems that spice up turn based combat in a unique way.

Thank you for putting Legaia 2 Duel Saga on this list. It's a great game that I still play today for fun. Sadly yes, the magic system is not as good as the first game, (Although if most people actually beat the game they would know that the Seru all died, so it makes sense that they would not be in a sequel game.) Other than that, it improves on the original in almost every way.
With a little polish, Dark Chronicle/Dark Cloud 2 could be a perfect JRPG. But it's definitely one of the bests in the genre on the PS2.

Wizardry Tale of the Forsaken Land - I own it, however with my memory cards being wiped (probably due to static electricity or some such thing) my progress probably won't start again. It was a great game when I played it, and was looking forward to going deeper in the dungeon.

Dark Chronicle (or Dark Cloud 2) - It improved greatly on the first game. First you had the reduction in team-mates from 6 characters to build up the weapons for down to just 2. Second, the time-travel aspect gave the town-restoration segments an added difficulty. Third, the addition of the medals to unlock items or cosmetic gear for your characters gave a sense of accomplishment.

Legaia 2 Duel Saga - Yet another game I loved the demo of, but put on my back burner to eventually get to.

Rogue Galaxy - I know I've seen this on your videos before, but yeah, it was a great game that deserved more promotion.

Just for those who don't know and are interested, Dark Chronicle is called Dark Cloud 2 in the States and I also HIGHLY recommend it.

Dark Cloud 2 was the first ps2 game I BoF
Ugh finally and I still have it. Sadly my MvC2 copy didn’t survive.
You featured four of my all time favourite PS2 games! XD Metal Saga, Dark Cloud 2 and Radiata Stories are all tremendous fun with tons of things to do besides the main plot. In Metal Saga you can fully customise your tanks with different weapons and use decals and colours using a complex and free paint your tank option, in DC2 you can breed and race fish and play spheda which is a brilliant form of golf played in all the dungeon locations and in Radiata Stories you can kick everything and everyone as well as having to play the game twice to see each side of the story since you have to pick a side in a kind of race war. And Nocturne is just brilliant with all the demon fusion.They are all games that can eat up hours and weeks of time though I don't think that Nocturne is an underrated game - it's highly rated by fans of SMT rpgs.

I have Rogue Galaxy and the Radiata Stories in the list. Still have not played them. XD I also have Dark Cloud 1 & 2, Shadow hearts (can't remember which two I got). Wish there was 2 of me, 1 working and doing important things, and the other one just lounge and play games all day lolol

GOOD DAY SIR!...its an honor to see your appearance... Gladius looks like Gladiator begins in PSP but in strategy...YEAH!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!...Eternal Poison is really good made by ATLUS.... LEGAIA 2 is really good improved ARTS Command now and can do combos and added many more characters...i think one of reasons why Legaia 2 suffered a lot in negative reviews on some people is because of its dubbing the English DUB turmoiled it...but when i tried the LEGAIA 2 Japanese DUB...its way COOLER for their voices definitely for Lang....its like almost the same in LEGAIA 1 PS1... WOAHHH... ROGUE GALAXY......all i can say that its VERY GOOD...VERY HARD and VERY BIG/LONG MAPS/DUNGEONS my current save file is still the chapter after the jungle after you rescued lilika's sister and she joins your adventure...i havent played SMT Nocturne yet i'll try to burn one on a blank disc i only got Digital Devil Saga ...and Finally RADIATA STORIES this one is also good...its like FINAL FANTASY MEETS SUIKODEN...first Square Enix PS2 game that you can recruit many characters aside from Chrono Cross...this game was one of my customer's favorite game way back 2010 when i have PS2 Rentals...yes i have a PS2 Game Rentals...he always drops by after school to continue the game...he almost past my save data...and he even beat it...haha THIS LIST are very good sir!!!.... AWESOME!!.... we need more of PS2 GAMES.....

Only in Europe is it called dark Chronicle in the USA it's known as dark cloud #2 it's part 2 of the dark cloud series I now own both 1 and 2 I like them myself🤔
There's 2 dark cloud 2 game's themselves one is just called dark cloud 2(I own that one myself)the other one is called dark Chronicle(aka dark cloud#2)I think dark cloud #2 in the usa is known as dark cloud 2 but outside it maybe called dark Chronicle I'm not sure about that I just know 2 exist I heard of both before but only one I own that's dark cloud #2🤔🌜

Legaia 2 was a big let down. Story never stuck and the combat didn’t have the same feel. 1st one is in my top 5 ps1 games

I like rogue galaxy i finish it even the bonus dungeon the battle system doesnt compare to ff12 your teamates are complete dumbasses in battle there’s barely any option to program the ai unlike ff12 i just set them to guard so they dont die quickly and just use their skills or do items im the one doing all the attack and use them as bait on boss battles

Dark cloud #2 is the true name for the ps2 version of this game I myself own this one so I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's the truth I'm not sure what version of this game is called dark Chronicle but the true ps2 version of this game is called dark cloud #2 not Chronicle🤬
