    Hi Nick and Adam. Adam: "I've just been doing Nick's job for a change. I've been eating donuts and watching him work." Possibly the best line ever! Well done Adam.

    What a real eye opener!! I expected to see big studio lighting set up, a full craft-services table spread, tool wranglers handing them tools between scenes, hair and makeup people attending to Cory before every take, prop people touching up the chargers and consumer units…basically the whole set a buzz with dozens of crew producing the whole thing. Shockingly refreshing to see Cory doing all of his own stunts though!! Must be all the editors and CG artists behind the scenes that keep their videos looking so cinematic! Thanks for showing everyone this fascinating look behind the scenes of the Artisan action, Nick!

    I can see the demand for EV chargers increasing in your area fairly soon, so as Adam would say …… “Get amongst it!”. Good to see you meet up with the Artisan gang.

    Maximum demand does include charger 32amps as well, eventhogh charging point has load management system, if a house already has maximum demand 30amps we still need to notify DNO prior to installing new ev charging point.

    Nice video Sir Nick! Great to see the various colabs. One thing regarding CT wiring. A twisted pair should be used to reduce potential interference (aka gremlins). Twisted pair cabling (and optional shielding) is specified by CT manufacturers for all installs.
    To quote Wikipedia article: A twisted pair can be used as a balanced line, which as part of a balanced circuit can greatly reduce the effect of noise currents induced on the line by coupling of electric or magnetic fields. The idea is that the currents induced in each of the two wires are very nearly equal. The twisting ensures that the two wires are on average the same distance from the interfering source and are affected equally. The noise thus produces a common-mode signal which can be cancelled at the receiver by detecting the difference signal only, the latter being the wanted signal.
    Common-mode rejection starts to fail on untwisted wires when the noise source is close to the signal wires; the closer wire will couple with the noise more strongly and the receiver will be unable to eliminate it. Twisting the pairs counters this effect as on each half twist the wire nearest to the noise-source is exchanged. Provided the interfering source remains uniform, or nearly so, over the distance of a single twist, the induced noise will remain common-mode.

    7:45 That is so funny, how do you guys live on 60A (14KW) over there, that's smaller than our portable generator? When both of our HVAC units are on they together pull 46 Amps @ 240V (11KW). Each of our Tesla wall connectors pull 48A (11.5kw), which we have 3 of those. We have 400A service into our house, and don't worry about it! 👍😁 Great video, really like the collaboration videos, keep up the good work.

    12:04 is that rotary switch or a pot. IE has it indents and encodes digital like dip switching? Really hard to see. And your bang on RE signal vs data, even is it is serial data, it's at such a low bit rate and the chips are robust enough to take errors into account. Well should be. Blimey, 25 years ago me and my mate used to run 3 loose wires to play doom, that was easy over 200' of phone wires and went across the car park on the ground.

    What do you do with the free floating cat cable cores you haven’t safely terminated in the EV charger? In an EICR…..wouldn’t they be considered open ended cables? Cores not saftey terminated within an enclosure?

    • @barrieshepherd7694
      @barrieshepherd7694 2 года назад +2

      Please don't tell me that the EICR / Regulations Police are going to stick their noses into domestic data cabling. We don't want the Australia solution where you need a sparky to install a cat cable across your loft or terminate a RJ connector. You can't even pass a purchased terminated cat cable through a hole in the wall / floor without a sparky.
