  • In this video I talk about PHP vs Python for Web Development Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence. The debate about PHP and Python seems to be never ending. This is due to the fact that both are very powerful and popular programming languages.
    Full Stack Web Dev Video:
    • What Is a Full Stack D...
    Algorithm Tutorial Video:
    • Bubble Sort Algorithm ...
    What is Python?
    Python: is an interpreted, object-oriented, high-level programming language with dynamic semantics. Its high-level built in data structures, combined with dynamic typing and dynamic binding, make it very attractive for Rapid Application Development, as well as for use as a scripting or glue language to connect existing components together.
    Let’s try that In Plain English, Python is a General-Purpose Programming Language you can use to create programs for your Computer or for web development. It’s a versatile language. It’s also very popular for Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
    What is PHP?
    PHP: (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. Its main use case is as a backend language.
    PHP is the most widely used server-side coding language used for websites. It hovers around 80% market share.
    Python is a General-Purpose Programming language that’s heavily used for Machine Learning, AI and Data science and it has a small percentage of market share for web development.
    I hope you enjoy this PHP vs Python video.
    Thanks for watching.

    I really love your videos, and I get so inspired by your story of changing career to the programming world. I am in the process of doing that myself. And I really like the background music in your videos. It would be nice to have a playlist to have in the background while programming. What song is in this video?

    This video should get a least 5k likes. It's straight to the point and the ending is crystal clear, python is for machine learning, AI and data science, and PHP for dynamic web applications, and this statement alone can set the path for anybody who wants to use either language. Thanks, bro

    PHP now has this powerful NumPower.
    NumPower library was created to provide the foundation for efficient scientific computing in PHP, as well as leverage the machine learning tools and libraries that already exist and can benefit from it.
    This C extension developed for PHP can be used to considerably speed up mathematical operations on large datasets and facilitate the manipulation, creation and operation of N-dimensional tensors. The area of image processing and computer vision will also be able to benefit from this library.
    Some features of NumPower are:
    * GPU and CPU compute support
    * Dozens of different operations for manipulation, arithmetic, linear algebra, statistics and etc.
    * Single precision float points (float32) for improved memory usage
    * Custom CUDA kernels for almost all operations
    * AVX2 support when available on hardware
    * Support for GD images in RGB format for easy image manipulation

    Do you have any videos on web development driven, maintained and automated with the help of AI, (say a site with many members like social media or dating site), that has algorithms or advanced queries built on databases for search. In that context, what languages, databases, libraries etc would suit best.

      I'm 19 years old so Imma share my thoughts lol not facts just thoughts hahahah
      I'd learn HTML CSS and JavaScript focus on the front end at the beginning then migrate to backend with PHP this if you're interested in web development
      But if you want to do other stuff like AI then just start with Python directly without learning HTML,CSS and JavaScript because it has nothing to do with the web in this case
      Good luck

      Hi! You can use Node.js, for backend development as well. If you're already good at Javascript it will be easy for you to learn backend development with node. PHP or Node.js? Try both of them and choose what you're comfortable with.

      Node is a great option for JavaScript developers who don’t want to learn another language. Php is still the dominant server side language used. I use both but for different purposes. Thanks for watching.

    Personally, as an intermediate programmer, I prefer Python. I just like using indents instead of curly braces to separate blocks of code. The code looks a lot cleaner and there are some libraries that it uses that PHP doesn't have. However, I always feel like I should be learning PHP more when >3/4 of the Internet uses it. As a proficient Django user, I always wonder what exactly makes PHP superior in web development.

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  3 года назад +3

      As a PHP developer first, since it’s what I learned first, I lean on it a lot in my webdev work. But I’ve been using python for editing videos and some automation and I’ve grown to like it a lot. I hear you about the clean format that python imposes, but maybe it’s the way I learned to code where I like to just code, not worry about formatting at first and then run a script to clean up the formatting later. Maybe I catered to a bad habit or maybe for me, it’s just a smoother process instead of having to worry about formatting first. As for what makes PHP superior, it’s made specifically for web development and performance is better along with scalability. That being said, python is superior for automation, ml, ai, etc since it’s more general purpose. It comes down to what you’re working on.

    • @PixemWeb
      @PixemWeb  4 года назад +6

      Hi Alex, It’s definitely not a dying language. It’s just one that gets picked on a lot since it’s the dominant language for server side programming. That being said, there’s a lot of options for server side programming. I recommend PHP for dynamic web development, NodeJS is also good and I use it for local development and Python for ML and AI type work. Thanks for watching.

    All these discussions about salaries per language are worthless. I'm a PHP developer making 200k, because senior PHP devs are worth that much. It would be about the same for Python. These lower stats come from the fact that there are more junior PHP devs, it means nothing for anybody in particular.

    • @AndreasGerum
      @AndreasGerum 3 года назад +1

      Hey Rafal, that's the point, and the primary problem is that in general with scripting languages, everyone sees it as simple and rates the salary accordingly - However, the point is that professional programming in these languages is worlds apart from what these people see as programming! Congratulations on your salary, despite senior level salary, 200k is not a given - In any language.
