  • Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI engine running rough, diagnosed to be faulty injector and after one injector replacement another injector collapsed.
Sorry for bad video quality as this is my first time using something other than phone camera and I am learning how to use it and best settings.
All my repairs are done by customer request to save them as much money as possible so if you see me cutting corners it is not due my laziness rather then labour cost cuts.
    Thanks for watching.

Just an update: Over the last weekend, I took the car and drove around 400 km in 3 days. The problem is gone. Engine is working fine. No smoke during cold start and average consumption was 4.7 lit/100 km.
I would guess that new injector calibreted itself or dynamic regeneration of diesel particulate filter was successfully performed.

I had the same problem to my 1.6 tdci 115cv, the car has 175000 km . The problem was P1261, the first injector from timing belt. Initally i clened the injectors with ultrasonic cleaner. After that the car runs fine, but after about 300 km , the error come again and the car runs in limp mode (3 cylinder) . So i changed the injector with a refurbished one that has a new code, so i changed the code in the ECM /ECU and the car is running fine till now. So i guessed it was the electric failure inside the injector itself. This kind of car are very sensitive to current changing, i mean if the battery is not healthy it can cause a lot of problems.

Mmmm.. interesting as this car also had battery issue, wondering now is this was what caused injectors to go one by one, will remember this on future cars if I come across another similar situation. Thanks

Hi, I had the same problem a few years ago and to cut a long story short (initially I thought it must be injector problem) I fixed it by changing the fuel filter (the car had not been used for a while) and the filter had some water in it. So 3 years later it happens again, P1261 Cyl1 Injector High to low side short... Not sure if it's the same again (water/debris in fuel) or injector failure, hopefully it's the same again. I guess the learning from this is use the car more...

Defo, I think the customer mentioned that some other mechanic already changed fuel filter, hence I jumped to injectors, agree with using car more often it specially these days fuel is rubish!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your video.
I have more o less same problem with my ford foxus 2011 model. I had engine malfinction error message. Workshop diagnosed it and recommend mento chage injector nozzle #3. They did it for me and programmed new one. After repair, there is no error in computer, but still engine misfiring during cold start with lots of white somke and car is shaky for first 1-2 minutes.
Ford dealers told me that based on their experience, for this model, all injectors should be renewed togheter not only one.
What do you think? What is the problem with my car? Should i go with ford dealer mechanics recommnedation?
I appreciate if you could share your thought.

Hi, sorry to hear this, yes some cars are fussy like that and when one injector goes it pull rest of them as well, and as per my video we can see that focus I worked on had same issue and only replacing 3 injectors it started to run more or less better, I still think that it need to do all of them, what I can recommend is not to take to dealers (stealers) as they gonna charge you arm and leg, althou injectors are expensive the labour cost in private garage gonna save you some pennies, best of luck getting it sorted, thanks!
PS In my case also there was no fault code that all of them were bad, could be common thing on these engines.

    Hi
What we can do to avoid to collapse the injectors?

    • @EverydayValuedMechanic
      @EverydayValuedMechanic  6 месяцев назад +2

I think there is no way to prevent this as it electricks inside injector that collapses, but it is good practice to add fuel treatment time to time to you fuel, and try to avoid cheap fuel.

these injectors are crap, not much you can do other than use quality fuel, but it wont save them.
