Wow, I didn't expect this to happen so soon. Definitely looks better and more harmony with colours - both contrasting and balancing! The space really does work and it blows my mind, you were the reason many of us got into this hobby and now I see you taking notes from viewers. Can't wait to see what is next, and hope you like the new re-scape. Would love for you to get into bubble mushrooms as they will op on the floor..can;'t see the jaw breakers, hope you still got them! They were a eye catcher.
Thanks again! Sadly the Jawbreakers and other Rhodactis melted during the SPS crash issue early this year. Hindsight, I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have been due to the full tank anti-biotic treatment (Oxalic acid). I have not had a chance to look more into this, but in the future if I ever have to do a full tank treatment again (will be extra cautious, if at all), I would evacuate all the mushroom anemones first. Either way, yes I totally agree with you that this tank could use some bounce mushrooms and jawbreakers again!
I appreciate you putting the family clips in there, it always makes me think about how much change this channel has had since you started. I found your channel 8 years ago when you put a tang in the 45g (because I was trying to justify the same thing), and it's been crazy to see all of the changes in your life over that time, not just the tank content.
@inappropriatereefer thank you for the shout out in your video. It was an honor letting me into your home and letting me see your tank. You are equally an amazing person. I hope to see you at the frag fest in January 😂😂.
In my opinion I would break down a lot of that large green acro in the front so you can see the torch garden and stuff in the back way better. Reef tanks looking great!
You know you're doing well when you start removing large chunks of coral to make your tank look better! Been following your videos since the cube tank, and it has been fun to see your trip through the hobby. Best luck.
I feel like its the green hard coral in the middle of the tank, I would frag up that larger colony and mix in some other more colourful sps colonies like some purple stylos or maybe even a green slimer.
I'm pretty sure mark from melev's reef suggested using a sharpened piece of acrylic for cleaning algae and what not on acrylic surfaces with out scratching. Great to see an update on the tanks. 👍👍👍
Been watching 4 or 5 years now. I loved the cubed tank, but this one is looking great. I love the clam! It looks amazing. I have been too paranoid to have one, after the one I had closed on my yellow tang a few years back. I really want one now!
Yikes, I have seen photos of clams closing up on fish, so sorry to hear it happened to you. Curious -- did either survived the ordeal? I vote another Derasa to get back onto the horse!!
Awesome to hear, take it nice and slow, link up with some local hobbyists on FB / clubs for some nice discounted gears and critters -- enjoy the journey!
At this point I can only respond with dumb-luck, lol!! Seriously though, I did notice a growth spurt after I switched over to using Kalk to maintain Alk & Ca, as it has the bonus of pH bump... I think that helped.
I am a bit nervous about torches, because all the super colorful torches eventually turn pale in mine. I suspect the light may not be intense enough to really tease out the color.
Interesting, I have not thought to face it that way before. I had it angle towards the back corner but the red goni brushes up against the clam's mantle, so I turned it more sideway. I'll see how turning the clam towards the front corner would look, and if the clam likes it. Thanks for the idea!
The 135g has too much same tone of green in it. Maybe a good size zodiac or acan garden to easily add a verity of colors. Some orange, red, lime green, pink would improve the overall look greatly
Agreed! For that reason I added a frag of Forest Fire Digi, as well as Monti Setosa, both should grow relatively quickly to pepper in some orange & red! Acans' actually a great idea to quickly add a large patch of color, thanks!
@@tanroger2117 They all seems to have their preferred part of the tank, maybe very minor chasing when one roams too close but I haven't really seen any real aggression.
I’m using Kalkwasser to address main supplement, which is equal parts. Anything missing I just dose Soda Ash for Alk, no supplement of Ca yet. I do add BRS Magnesium once in awhile haphazardly
LOL is there anything specific that you are looking for? Always happy to frag to trade or give-away locally. I usually don't post unless I have a decent collection of frags made.
I had some and killed them most in those annual SPS-crash in Springs... having been through two of those crashes, it's just too stressful, I find myself checking to see if any of them bleached each morning instead of just enjoying the tank. These days I much rather keeping fast growing, cheap SPS that I wouldn't cry into my pillow for a few days if I lose them, lol! Although, my mind may change once I find more success in harder to keep SPS...
Nice try you still need to trim those green corals in the middle just out growing your tank. Basically your a coral hoarder or pack rat just can't get rid of your timings. Tank has been like this for awhile now. The tank in the office over grown as well too crowded. Since you don't have another wall area in the house to add another tank. Just get a bigger one not a cube Peninsula style maybe? Or just re-landscape and trim the corals back quit a bit give some of them away. Less stress!!!!
I've watched since the start, somewhat seasonal for me.... my tank ticks over during the summer, and i regain interest in the winter. This means i always get loads to bingewatch 😂 Your tank is lovely mate, and its always a pleasure watching your channel - man, i wish we had a marine scene like you guys do in the US. We have very little in the UK!
Thanks for coming back every winter! I think Prestige Reef & Reef Dork have been trying to kick something off in the UK and have had some very nice turn-out? Hopefully it continues to grow so the hobby would hold your interest even during the Summer months, lol.
@InappropriateReefer haha 😅 fishing gets my attention during the summer 🤙 I'll check them out mate! Glad your to see you all well on my seasonal check-in 😅
Dude the tank looks great, lively, happy. Don’t mess w it.

Looks like it’s time for a bigger tank! 😬
Haha I want to downsize to a 93g cube!
Upsizing is such a stressful thing to under go. I’d add another tank next to it with shared sump. 😅
Real@@InappropriateReefer
@@InappropriateReefer that would be sweet! I loved your 40g cube that red nem was beautiful

My mind agrees but my heart refuses to let me do it, lol!!!
@ very difficult decision when the tank still looks that good!
The tank and corals are looking very nice. Moving some of the corals around really turned out well. The torch garden looks great.
Thank you!
Keep up the great work been watching you for 4 years now
Thank you for following along all these years!

Thank you for watching all these time Austin, I'm surprised myself that I am somehow still in the hobby, lol!
That T. derasa is just spectacular!
Cheers,
Chris
Regardless of the troubles, looks good from my end. Great job 💯👏🙌👌🔥
I am always impressed by your tank. Thank you for sharing 💙

Solid, I'll give that a try too. I heard about using credit card or plastic scraper, but I did not have one on-hand.

@ they both survived! I was too afraid to do anything, and just watched for a while. The clam let go after 5 minutes.
That clam and those goniapora are magnificent.
You need to get in touch with top lids
You inspired me to start my first reef tank this week!

Stunning!
That clam is and has been so happy in your care
Wow!! Amazing Clam!!🤗🤗
Great video! I need to know your secret to how you make your coral grow so fast?
At this point I can only respond with dumb-luck, lol!! Seriously though, I did notice a growth spurt after I switched over to using Kalk to maintain Alk & Ca, as it has the bonus of pH bump... I think that helped.
any possibility for a yellow torch? Imo I feel like it would make your torch section pop out more
I am a bit nervous about torches, because all the super colorful torches eventually turn pale in mine. I suspect the light may not be intense enough to really tease out the color.
Looking good Moki!
You should turn that clam 90 degrees so it faces the front corner. Would look better with the scape.

Was licking my chops the first 15 seconds waiting for the yellow gloves to come out 😍😭

Perhaps a small nano? ;-)

Hi, what variant of fishes do you have in the 135g??
Let me see: Hippo tang, Yellow tang, 5 Lyretail anthias, Starkii's damselfish, Azure damselfish x2, Randal's damselfish, Bangaii Cardinalfish x2, Upside-down Goby x2, Black mollies x4
@ thanks! All 3 variants of damselfishes don’t fight?
@@tanroger2117 They all seems to have their preferred part of the tank, maybe very minor chasing when one roams too close but I haven't really seen any real aggression.
time to setup a frag tank
Perhaps when I finally move into a new house and have a proper fish room!
white spot on molly possibly coral sting or scratch
Question what cal and alk are you dosing.. are you dosing equal parts
I’m using Kalkwasser to address main supplement, which is equal parts. Anything missing I just dose Soda Ash for Alk, no supplement of Ca yet. I do add BRS Magnesium once in awhile haphazardly
it’s looks fine!!
What’s the name of that upside down fish?
I know this is reefing channel but also big fan of the doggo too...what breed is he? I love his color
Thanks! Kowloon is a Poodle (75%) x Bichon Frise (25%); currently 3.5 yo and a bundle of joy.
Hahahaha, I see what you did with that name, @@InappropriateReefer (fellow Canto speaker)
Not me going straight to WAMAS before video over to see if anything for sale 😅

Absolutely, thanks for the idea.

I thought it was a bit too cluttered too 😆
You need a bigger second tank still far to much going on in that tank
Keep everything trimmed don’t rearrange it all the time
