Wigan had an international swimming pool with diving boards that attracted people from miles away to come and use the facilities. I used to go regularly with my friends and loved using the diving boards and then we would all go and get something to eat from the cafe upstairs and watch people swimming and diving, it was a fantastic atmosphere which i really miss. No other pool in Greater Manchester (as far as i know) has an International swimming pool with boards, so i want to ask... why on earth did the council get rid of it? I heard it was because it needed refurbishing and the cost would of been to great, but demolishing it and starting again from ground zero building an entirely new building, pool, offices etc must of cost way more. Could somebody in the know enlighten me please? The pool that is there is the sort of pool you find at your local DWSports Gym, very disappointing.

Used to go to their gym 3 times a week for a year a while ago. Odd to think none of it is there anymore.
