William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice is a tragic-comedy where we find a dispute between a Christian and a Jew. A love story brews between Bassanio and Portia. Many interesting situations take place and to enjoy it continue to follow my channel.
In this scene Bassanio has come to Shylock to lend some money from him to go to Belmont. Antonio accompanies him. The scene happens to be one of the most interesting ones in The Merchant of Venice.

Banking sectors were not as common as it's in today's world. Moreover, Bassanio needed the money immediately. And Shylock was already a moneylender. He could give him money immediately.

The suitors listened to the conditions. They came to know that they had to promise the three things before choosing. They couldn't marry ever if they chose the incorrect casket. So they were afraid to choose and so left.
