- (footage from July 16-18, 2021) A vlog of our DC trip from almost a year ago! We're so thankful for all of you guys that we got to meet on this trip and your willingness to withstand the most heat we've probably ever played in. And, of course, we're immensely thankful for Bass Pro continuing to give us unimaginable opportunities like playing at the National Harbor! Hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for even more vlogs coming your way.

Thanks Julianne, for giving us a little shot of Petersens. Your travelogues are a riot. Brutal heat. Clothing soaked, faces melting off, and you guys soldier on. Ellen's banjo case is a bit too subtle. Maybe you could add some unicorns or clowns. Just so people notice. Well thanks again julianne, for giving us something to tide us over. Hope you're all having a great summer.
Global warming is going to make the heat worse over the next few years.
I hear that it is air you can wear!
@@chesterkey6231 I was in Hong Kong in 1988 and the humidity was so high you broke into a sweat just by thinking of moving.
Lo
Really enjoyed this vlog. Jules we appreciate your trouble doing these. They’re so much fun for us.
I was one of people who was camped out in the heat all day to catch all of your sets!! Didn't pass out, but that was a typical July day in Maryland!!!! Camp chair and cooler full of Gatorades and water and was good to go.
Enjoyed meeting Katie, Ellen, Julie Ann, Matt, and your Dad, at the store.
P.S. you guys must have an in with Mother Nature, or some higher power😇, because that storm front split when it hit the Potomac and Northern DC and Montgomery County to the North got hammered with severe thunderstorms, as did Prince George's and Charles Counties to the South....and we just got sprinkles!!!
BTW - those afternoon thunderstorms are also typical for MD July and August afternoons.
I was hoping to make the Concert in PA on the 8th of August, but I'm in the middle of a move to PA, so won't have the time.......😭
Great concert BTW.......
You have no idea how much I look forward to these videos. Just love the banter between all the family members, not to mention the slick editing too.
Driving around Washington DC is a subject that tends to send me off on a rant and that summer humidity is really something special. You guys did good to get through that one. Great vlog!
Julianne you are so funny! “I’ve had terrible luck with forks on this trip”. I’m crying!
Always enjoy the behind the scenes of your shows. Shows how really down to earth you guys are. Love you all
You are all real troopers managing the heat and giving a great performance. Kudos!
As someone who grew up in Suburban DC and has also lived in New Orleans, I can tell you with authority that Washington DC is the most humid place in the US. With The Chesapeake Bay to the East and The Blue Ridge Mountains to the West, add the incredibly horrible Smog Ceiling from the city and you have one hot mess. Drive up the Blue Ridge southward from The Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park in Front Royal VA. Soon if you stop at scenic overlooks on either side of the Ridge you'll notice to the East you can only see a few miles into the haze but a view to the West offers vistas across the Shenandoah Valley and over the Allegheny Mountains into West Virginia and beyond. Air Pollution is to blame for that humidity.
These vlogs are always entertaining. Thanks Jules. We can’t wait to see y’all in Charlotte this weekend! hopefully your trip here isn’t as rough.
Ya'll never fail to make me smile!! Thanks ❤🙏👍👍😁
These are always hilarious, well done as always Julianne!
Such a joy to see you all enjoying yourself. Thanks Julianne.
Thanks for bringing us along! Many more happy trails to you.
This is hard work. It shows y'all's work ethics. Thank you for sharing what happens behind the scenes. It shows behind great music are great people. Your family is a National Treasure!
I love these vlogs! Getting to know the realities of touring life (again, since I went through it many years ago). Love you guys!
Great vlog! Thanks for sharing the backstory. It’s amazing how you handle the irritants that naturally come with travel, heat, and the pressure to perform under tough conditions. You take it all in stride and show God’s grace to all. Way to go, Petersens!
Olyan szépek a lányok!Üdvözlet Magyarországról!Sok sikert Nektek!
I love watching y’all. Great family. Awesome job guys. Wish y’all all the best. 😁
Vielen Dank für dieses tolle Video! Ich liebe diese Familie!
Julianne,
Thanks for another great Vlog. Always enjoy learning more about your family from your trips.
I was in D.C. this past April with my brother in-law Curt. He’s a Vietnam Veteran and served 6 years in the Marines. He got to see for the 1st time the Vietnam wall. That was emotional I must say.
So we wish you the very best on your way to Oxford this coming semester in your studies. Safe travels and looking forward to seeing another Vlog on Oxford we hope. God Bless 🙏the Petersen’s and Emmett and the rest of the crew.
Bill, Mary, and Patrick 😎😊😀
Jon Petersen, to the world the Best answer I can always Give my wife? "Is YES DEAR" what a WISE man!!
It’s always fun to watch these vlogs!
I had the opportunity to attend this swelter-a-thon in DC. I couldn't believe you guys did as fine a job as you did in that heat. Plus, you looked kinda Ozark Kool when you came on stage with sunglasses. I was sweating it out badly just sitting there. The bass player looked as though she might not make it. My brother decided he had to leave before the final set, and we proceeded to get caught in an epic thunderstorm on the way home. Thanks for all you do for your fans!
Thanks Julz! Your vlogs are always interesting and funny!! 👍
I came to this show at National harbor and it was the best experience in my life!!
Love the music! Thanks for giving us great Christian bluegrass music and keep living for Christ!
This was a really enjoyable Vlog to watch, thank you for sharing your trip to DC with us
Love this channel. It's lovely to see the family without all the bells and whistles, just tryin' to chill a bit.
I first heard The Fox from your collab with Ger. Then a week later a group of friends had an impromptu jam session and played it, so I realized I had to learn it. Two years have passed (holy cow, how has it been two years since we found your channel?), still playing it on a regular basis. Tonight, as I was printing off a lesson handout for that group of friends on There Is a Fountain (during the summer we compare hymns to Scripture, discuss, then sing it), I decided to take a guitar break. Played that song, came downstairs, and for some reason pulled this video up. Needless to say I got a smile out of hearing your warmup!
That's only one of several rambling stories I could tell about times your channel has made me smile. It's probably ridiculous to say that a channel run by people we've never met has impacted our lives, but seriously, my wife and I have had a blast watching, listening to, and singing along with your family for the last two years. Your vlogs were a happy reminder of long roadtrips and international flights growing up, and your family, though almost certainly not as perfect as a curated social media image would portray, has been an encouragement to us as we look forward to starting our own (coming soon!).
In other words, thanks for what you're doing, and if you're ever up in Iowa or north MO we'll hope to catch you! One more for the road: in your MN trip vlog, you stop at a Love's outside of Eagleville, MO. I grinned because I could have told you what station it was without the explanation, as I stopped there almost monthly when driving between my work in KC and my now-wife in Ames.
Great job Julz. I always look forward to your vlogs. Can't wait for Yodel !
A big thank you to Liz who added the English captions !!! It's a very important thing !! 🥰👍
You did it! suffering through for us! I was there with my three little kids and we loved it... but boy it *was* hot! Thanks for posting the footage in a fun little homage to the day.
The fun never slows down!!! 😁
What a terrific family.
As everyone and everything gets old and tired you guys keep the American dream alive and young. Please don't stop doing what you are doing.
You are all amazing people I love you so much your music is some of the best that I have on hand God bless you all
always great to see your videos, happy beautiful family
O melhor grupo musical dos U.S.A!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I have always wondered where "Dad" was. First time ever pictured or mentioned to my knowledge. I only Watch Petersen videos as you gals are so danm cute and your music is awesome. 👍 Best
Thanks guys your travel vlogs are great
It's really good that you show people what gigs are really like. Equipment fails, heat, sweating, wind, getting lost, bad motel room, GPS doesn't work right and you end up in a cow pasture and it makes you considerably late, etc., etc., etc.... This is the reality of being a performer especially playing gigs outside. We finally had to tell folks no outside gigs. We couldn't do our jobs well and so we stopped doing it all together. We didn't like losing the work, but it was a must. One of our all time WORST events was performing for the opening of Bass Pro in Jackson, Mississippi many years ago. We were set up in front of the aquarium and first, the water from the waterfall behind it was splashing our electrical equipment and that made us nervous. Then, thousands of people were coming through the store that day and wanting to see the aquarium and so we were in the way and we had a LOT of equipment. It was so completely frustrating. We had to end the gig early and strike everything in the middle of thousands and walk through the crowd with gear to pack it up. Awful! We make doubly sure now to find out exactly where we will be set up etc., because when it goes bad, that's what people remember about us - not how much they enjoyed the show. I love your music and I still love Bass Pro! OH and one very important gig, I had to write, learn, and perform 2 new songs the next morning - the whole family had to learn it. PLUS, I had to repair equipment that night too. No sleep at all. That's happened more than once when we were getting started. It was extremely stressful but we pulled it off. We have a family joke, "That's why we make the big bucks. NOT!" LOL!
Watching these videos makes me realize (again) that when you’re young, you pretty much ALWAYS look good. Those were the days! 😂
You guys are too funny ..
I bet that even sweaty it was a great show !
Your family is real troopers! But please be safe! I have had heat stroke in the past. And it's nothing to joke about. Safe travels back home.
I have to say this, how does one family have so many talented musicians, not to mention three extraordinarily beautiful sisters.
You are literaly my favorite bluegrass band, I love all your videos
I am not a Christian person but I love your work. Very nice family ensemble.
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love 💚 and peace all over the world 🌏. I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind?. I'm Doctor Christopher Johnson from San Francisco, California, where are you from if I may ask?❤
I lived in DC for many years, glad y’all had a safe visit! DC can be pretty rough
This is my favorite video from y'all ever
Nicely done trip video! Hope to get to see ya'll in concert one day. Happy trails.
Great vlog J! It's a great way to get to know the Petersen's.
And it's good to see you scrap like regular siblings, behind the scenes!
I feel like like I've got to know all of you guys through the vlogs, it's great!
I'm scared of your Dad though! 😨
Hi beautiful people. I have to say that you guys, in full harmony, can make me pass out with absolute delight so the heat would just add another dimension to the joy. Don't stop being you..
Love watching your travelogues - your family could brighten up the darkest day! Thanks for posting Julianne - must be a lot of work putting these together. Matt is a riot! Cracks me up when you insert those wry pop-up comments ("sarcaptions"?). Hope you're all enjoying the summer.☕
Y'all are a hoot! The whole bunch of ya!
Julianne’s vlogs are the BEST
I love how realistic you all are
I know the kind of heat & humidity we’ve been dealing with in North Carolina so I can only imagine how hot & sticky it was in DC🥵Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Y’all are such a treasure !

I think dad had the best idea in this one.👍🌝 Trying to sneak a Savannah cat in as the new family pet! I love them baby cougars! 🐆 👌 He would also take care of all the left over food that Katie cooked! Love y’all 🙂❤️🕊🦋🕊
Ellen throwing that bottle, so funny. 🌞 And Katie thinking about own family, i think. 😃👍
Julianne love your vlogging and sense of humor.
Always fun to see "inside baseball".
A brief glimpse into the less glamourous and difficult life of entertainers. Thanks!
Discovered you guys on RUclips a few weeks ago. Wow such talent and refreshing. Your group sing Country Roads better than John Denver. Keep up the hard work. I see awards in the future.
Thanks for the video.
I would sit through just about any weather condition to watch the Petersons. Except, hail, tornados, & hurricanes. Maybe small hail, with my helmet on :) Neat video! Neat family! God Bless.
Y'all are a hoot! ❤
Love it! More!
Just hysterical, y'all! But I am not jealous of you guys in that heat! 😂❤️ Aaaand... Ellen weird and unique is definitely OKAY! Love the new banjo case!!! ☺️
Hi, I’m a big fan of y’all’s music. I think y’all are so talented it has to be nice to have a close family. It isn’t as common as it once was. God Bless
How many times did I say y’all? 😆
Love that ya'll came to my home town! Wish I could have been there to make it!!!
Thanks for sharing with us 👍🎤🎶🎸
Troopers! Looking forward to seeing you in Sellersville! (Oh yeah, trying to drive around DC is the WORST.)
😂Awesome!!
Ya'll are always so much fun!!

🌹🌹 what a great family 🌹🌹
Funny Vlog, thanks! Katie's angryish face at 7:22 was the best.
All your voices are so great
Peace, Love!!
Nothing beats that coffee ritual
Hedello 🎶... 🤣 .
Thanks for the bts vlogs Julianne. 🙏🏼
you guys are so much fun 🙂
That day was kind of rough, but I had fun. Thanks for sharing that.
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing!
I lived in DC for about 6 months. The summers are legendary. Humidity enough to drown in...
Looking forward to seeing y’all tonight in Branson!
If you haven’t seen the Petersens live, I can’t tell you how great it is. As much as I love their videos (and I love them a lot 😍) their live show is extraordinarily amazing. It was beyond my expectations, which were high. Also appreciated how they took time to speak to me after the show. They’re as nice in person as they are on their videos.
I loved I hope family recovered the heat in DC. I hated I missed when you were in Franklin Tn
Don’t know what your on about, Katy is my favorite. The way she swings that violin? Fantastic.
Stunning jazz! You should do some jazz!
Probably the most talented, clever and beautiful three sisters in the world!
This was definitely one of your sweatiest videos so far !
I am kicking myself -- I live in the DC area and didn't know you were in town! I want to see you guys!
Woohoo! Our family has a cameo in the meet and greet. Petersens are the best!
I live in VA and make the trip up to DC several times a year, so I've seen this harbor from I-395 I don't know how many times. I've always wondered what it looks like from the perspective of the hotel. So THANK YOU for saving me the $$ to have get a room there in order to find out!!! (5:05)
Nice to see y'all enjoyed my home area!
Very well done vlog!!! Thanks for the video :3
My son was in a high school marching band, they got invited to do the Independence Day Forth of July Parade. My wife and I were chaperones in the parade. The organizers told us we had to double time it because we were in front of the parade. I had to triple time it as the videographer running to get in front of the band every time I stopped to film them go by. I was getting ready to drop out when the end was spotted. The fire department had a mist tunnel to go through to cool off but I couldn’t use with all my electronics. I looked like I had gone through it but it was sweat.
Ahh yes National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD.
All you guys are definitely Troopers. Wow! And who in the heck booked your flight for that early? ✈️😐 thank you God for keeping the Petersen Family and Emmett safe 💙
Dimples, your vlogs always remind me how blessed we all are to be here in this big family. I grew up in northeast DC, so I know that heat and humidity. Summer in DC is a gentle reminder about the fires of hell 😂 Hotter than the Devil’s drawers! So y’all be safe and stay hydrated, watch that Beltway traffic (oops! this is from last year argh) and know that we love the whole Petersen family and the good work that you do. Julianne, may your day be chocolatey & blue. You keep shining out with God’s love, and I promise not to call you Dimples again. ❤️🙏🏻♿️🕺
Dimple. Singular ;)
even the banjo case is pink! oh my!
Great vlog! DC is so hot in the summer 🌞
You are a beautiful family (especially the girls) and very talented, I hope that one day you will come to Brazil so that I can attend one of your wonderful shows. Hugs!
