    The cateye silverados are truly the most beautiful trucks built by man. These year models are the last of a generation when men and women actually worked and put blood sweat & tears into their craft.
    With the 1500 HD, you got yourself a rare one. Keep it, forever!

    Thank you for the in depth detailed video! I’m about to take my 03 1500HD 4x4 with only 135k miles on it to the dyno in two weeks or so. The fuel enrichment god. So that explains why it feels like it’s “lugging” when you really want it to get up and go

    I find that the best mod you can make to these older 4 speed trucks is a gear swap, look into a gear vendors you can run 5.13 gears and your highway rpms would be the same as the 4.10s without the gear vendors it's really cool stuff and really brings an old 4 speed up too par with the new trucks especially a 4L80 considering how long first gear is

I tuned it myself via HP tuners, timings around 22-23 degrees with zero knock and timing adders zeroed out, added a ton of fuel (using a Wide Band to tune WOT) and have it dialed at 12.5 or .85 lambda at WOT, through a NV4500. I have the 1500HD (2003)
    but 2WD. With a level kit, do you think i can fit 33/12.50 M/T wrapped in 20x9 0 offset with no major rub issues?
    Unfortunately for me, with the 2wd train my only options are level kit, 3 inch lift or the big 6 inch.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  Год назад +1

      I think you will probably rub. My buddy had a 4x4 2001 Sierra with 2” level and his 33x11 all terrains rubbed his mud flaps on stock wheels. You’re going to be sticking out even farther with a wider tire and 2wd sits lower than 4x4. Even these tires on this truck rubbed on the front bumper lower balance before doing some trimming and they’re only like a 31.5 or 32” tall tire. Not sure on wheel specs though as these were on the truck when I bought it.

Truck is actually at my buddy's place so I can do some work in his shop and I can't remember exact tire size, but I believe it is a 265/75R16. Wider than stock and slightly taller. I think I saw 2 other questions you had but maybe they got deleted or something. MPG has not been changed noticeably since the fuel enrichment change. I get about 10-12 mpg when empty no matter what and slightly less while towing lol. I know you said you were in CA, but I'm not sure if the fuel enrichment counts as tuning or not in terms of CARB issues. I'd Google performance shops around you and contact them to ask. The fuel enrichment is just allowing the engine to get full fuel when it wants it, it's not actually changing the tune MAP or anything, so I could see it going either way in CA. Better to ask the pros that tune for a living.
