I own a 2016 busa and I've owned it from mile 0. I have 45k on it right now and I ride it everywhere even the twisties. This bike is great for a chill ride, straight line and for going left to right. The only thing better than riding a busa to me is skydiving lol. I enjoy the bike for its versatile nature but not everyone sees the busa that way. Once you own and ride it for so long u get used to it in a way that it doesnt scare you but it's always fun and thrilling when u need the adrenaline. Just like every bike this bike isnt for everyone but even just for 1 ride I would suggest every experienced rider to try it.
Got lucky and actually found a gen 1. I'm hopefully picking it up this week. I'm giddy as a school girl for the first time I get to roll on that throttle.
I'd like offer you a bit of unsolicited advice, as someone who installs and replaces a LOT of turbo-and-suoerchargers and repairs leaking cooling systems (I'm a Jaguar/Land Rover technician by profession): When it comes to Turbo Time, get yourself a cooling system vacuum-filler. Trust me. There are few things scarier than going out on your road test after a job and seeing the coolant temp gauge spike because you didn't bleed the cooling system 100% perfectly. Spend the $150(CDN) on Amazon for a good quality Air Lift and call it good!

@@soiboisteve515 So you're can buy tools that use compressed air to evacuate all of the air from your cooling system and draw it into a vacuum. You then can use the negative pressure in the cooling system to completely fill the system up with no air pockets. This is much cleaner than trying to pour coolant into your engine using a funnel, as well as MUCH faster than filling and bleeding the system traditionally. The main benefit however, is not having to worry about leaving air trapped in your cooling system, especially if you have just made that system more complex with the addition of a turbocharger and intercooler. The links I provided previously are for the Air Lift by ULine, but other companies make similar devices (Snap-On, Mac, Matco; I'm sure there's even one by Harbor Freight)

I tried the busa once, heavy and not fun for me personally. But yammy seems to be pretty picky and over exaggerating the way he describes it here. My dad had one as his only bike for 12 years and he loved it, used it as a city bike and on the highway. He never complained about it being heavy or not being able to do twisties. It’s a great bike, just not yammys type I guess
I never got bored with My Hayabusa. But yeah... After a summer of riding I felt like I wanted more power. Easy to forget how much power your not using when you get used to having to baby the throttle all summer long.
I've had a Busa for about 10 years now. And I'll never sell it. I have other bikes also, but the Busa is special. It has a personality like no other bike.
I had a 08 Red Limited and it was a beautiful bike. Yammie Noob if you take that out on the highway get it up to 65mph and going down the backside of a overpass snap it into 2nd gear and whine it to just below red line in every gear I guarantee you will think twice about wanting a turbo. When you get to 6th gear and hit redl ine you will great respect for the bike. Make sure you check your tire pressure and set up the suspension before you try it. Good luck!
Am I the only one wanting to see yammie just once drop some gears and bang red line to 180? Instead of rolling on in 4 or 5th and calling it fast. I'd save the money on the turbo if 120 is all we get haha the fz07 can do that, along with my old cruiser. 240hp is the same as 160hp if you never use it
I have Gen 1 Busa and also noticed that He is shifting really early not even hitting 9k and above when the fun starts 😁also no seat cowl plus grab rail cmon Man 😟
I ride mine in the mountains...once you get The hang of it, it’s not a problem. California has crazy tight turns. Just gotta know how to do it and not be afraid of the bike. Just gotta be careful🤷🏽♂️

I've ridden my Busa on plenty of twisty back roads. It handles well for a big bike, and you don't have to go syco nuts speeds on the twisty back roads to have fun.
Has the same situation as the R35 GTR. It's so fun at first due to the speed but then it where's off and people just boost the hell out of it till they get the feeling again.

I raced professional motorcross as a teen 125 class. You used all 6 speeds on the track. I later moved into the open class where you never used 5th and 6th gear. Same with these liter bikes vs middle weights. Middle weight bikes are the Goldilocks bikes. I owned a turbo 911 i sold it for a base 911 6 speed. The base 911 more fun before triple digits.
I never get bored with my Hayabusa! & I can do twisties, lean it around curves very well. No cheap thrills when I ride my Hayabusa! Never will I turbocharged my bik satisfied with the power it has. Stay away from a bike that you can't handle. Hayabusa & zx-14r forever!!!
It's a 6 hr job start to finish if you don't have to do any welding to manifold or oil pan bung. If it is going to take 2-3 days to do this install you probably want to consider a professional shop do the work, it's just a turbo kit not rebuilding a forged engine. If it comes with a flanged header, preferably with V-band this is a straight forward turbo build. V-BAND gives you a lot more adjustability and removal and installation ease. Rather than dealing with bolted flanges that seem to fight you the whole time.
I own one and would have gotten rid of it if I based it on the first ride out. Ride it with your body around corners and it's a great ride. It just takes a new way of riding but really worth learning.

It's a tough deal. I would love to ride a busa but as you say. It does spoil you. riding great tech will spoil you. I think I got "maybe" as big a rush riding my old KZ750 flat out. Was it as fast? not really. but it sure felt good pushing it to both our limits!

They have no reliability probs with a turbo kit as long as it's done right. I was thinking of a direct port 80 shot NOS system myself - just in case ;)
You regularly see them with that kind of mileage turbo'd without any issues. Only time they go pop is if the turbo isn't done right - bad tune, aiming for too much boost or power/whatever. Remember its not like most sportbikes. Most of that mileage it will have been turning pretty low rpm so its not wearing out.
Yea I always felt like anything over a liter bike was just over kill for drag bikes basically cause they sure don’t get around a track faster then the liter bikes or 600cc bikes even with the extra power! So if your drag racing sure ZX14 is the way to go but for the my use I find the 1000 naked to be the perfect bike you get light weight, torque, still fast and just the right size for my 6’3” 260lbs frame!
I know you down in Austin and I’m sure you’ve already ridden out in Hill Country (like I do all the time ) .... but the roads around ft hood particularly Range Road are beautiful.... the military will sometime have them shut down and make you turn around but not before you see some beautiful views .... not great for dragging the knee cuz of the gravel here and there but so pretty out there and no traffic

I rode one once after not riding a bike for 25 years. I was amazed at how easy it was to ride, and perfect for a 5ft 5inch shorty like me.

If you drop the front forks at the top by 10mm it makes an improvement when dropping into corners. It turns a lot quicker. Changes the game.

I had a busa sighting in the Mesa AZ area last weekend. I couldn't keep up in my 700 haha. Left me in the dust haha
Repaint the front fender and clear coat it with SprayMax 2K clear. Makes it look perfect and super glossy because that front fender looks bad

Love drag racing and plan on a busa in the future. running a 05 zx6r and its starting to loose the power feeling
I dont like riding really heavy bikes. Even if they have tons of power they feel “sloppy” to me. I feel like I’m in more control of a light bike.
With great speed comes the need for great stability :)

Mine is a half-a-Busa and it's already quite fast. I rarely gets it to 140, most of the time just cruising between 80 and 100.

Busas aren't great at tight twisties but they are brilliant on fast sweeping stuff. Which is kind of what they were built for...
Is this a good beginner bike?

I would hate to have the inconvenience of having to drive to an office/warehouse space to ride a BUSA....would be terrible.
What sports bike would you advise for a newbie...? I want something respectfully fast but tame enough for a beginner.
