I've owned two manual Boxsters: a '13 Base model and a '15 GTS. I miss them. My GTS had 330 hp with the 3.4 liter flat six. Very capable, but more torque was just what this great chassis wanted. Two trunks make travel with the wife quite doable. My wife took the rear, my stuff was in the frunk. We drove to Denver from Myrtle Beach and to California. Brilliant machine. I also drove many track day events in both cars. So fun and predictable. Balance, baby.
An Australian perceptive, I have a 24 GTS Boxster (Manual), Metallic Black. On the road there is really no speed difference between the Cayman and Boxster. It's whatever floats your boat. Both fabulous cars. Remember the Boxster is designed as an open top from inception. On a Sunday morning on a winding mountain road with the manual, yeah she goes alright. And as the previous owner of a 981s can I say that the 718 4.0 still sound bloody good.
It’s a very good car but the two main problems 1) that infotainment is from 2015 they should have updated it in 2019/2020 2) there is absolutely no space in the cabin like I put me phone in the armrest and ? Like I wish they would give a shelf behind the seats not like the 911 but maybe 10/12in of depth for a backpack or something
I just came from a G80 with idrive 8.x and I'll tell you I don't care about the 718 infotainment is from 2016, it works and has buttons. It's not the reason why people buy this car. As for phone storage, yeah, it's a small compact sports car.
@@seang3538 my ‘problems’ aren’t deal breakers, everything else is perfect just it would be nice if it was updated and I shouldn’t worry that my coffee shouldn’t spill on the infotainment when I accelerate
You started out saying there are lot of differences between the Cayman and Boxster. Well that's only if you configure them differently. The differences are obvious! And oh Genetian blue isn't the best color, there are so many around. I went with Vanadium Grey, much more limited color. You can't get the Porsche crest on the seat headrests with the GTS package unless you delete the race-tex, and you can't get ventilated seats with the race-tex. The front liner is infact a factory option but as with some accessories, they are also available in the dealership.
Gentian blue is my favorite color so it’s the best to me. The “best” color is just an opinion. The point of the video is to show options of both the Boxster and Cayman so if you buy one you know what to look for.
They are not widely different.. One is a convertible/roadster, the other is a coupe, that's where the differences pretty much end.. All the different options can be ordered on both..
The amount of mistake in this video is crazy. I'll give you one just to start. The Porsche Crest on the headrests option... that's EMBOSSED, not embroidered lmfao 🤣
If the only thing I got wrong was that I said embroidered rather than embossed then that’s not a big deal. What are the other, more important, mistakes that you said I made?
The front trunk liner is NOT a factory option. It's just a drop-in liner that you can buy or maybe the dealer throws it in when you buy the car. @@LivingLikeGray I'll let you figure out all the mistakes with respect to the manual/electric/hardtop/soft top descriptions you gave. It just sounds like you don't really know what you're talking about so the level of trust isn't there. I've seen this before on a couple of your other videos when they randomly pop up.
@@malinois71 I never said the trunk liner was a factory option. I said you can buy the liner from Porsche which refers to the dealer and I compared that to the factory carpet in the Boxster. As for the convertible option. What I said is correct. The Spyder and Spyder RS are manual convertible soft tops and the GTS and other Boxster models are electric soft tops. Not only that, there is no hardtop convertible option for the Boxster and the Cayman is not a Convertible. This can be confirmed through Porsche, so I'm not sure what you think I said wrong about the convertible. I encourage fact checking if I did say something incorrect and I appreciate you informing me about the embossed vs embroidery mistake that I made. That will be corrected in the future. But it does seem that is the only mistake that I made.
Misleading because then sure, anything you you can add like an air freshener or whatever it is. Saying add it from "Porsche" is misleading imo because it sounds like a selectable option. FYI, I have that but I didn't get mine from Porsche. @@LivingLikeGray
Before doing a video maybe build the car using the Porsche configurator. 718's haven't changed much since 2021. You got several things wrong, especially on the Cayman that can easily be found on Porsche's site. Saying the Boxster wheels were a more expensive than the turbo wheels made me laugh. You missed on several other items as well. Sorry but you didn't do HCC any favors.
@tomsimard2143 I didn’t say the Boxster wheels were more expensive. I said the Cayman wheels were more expensive. You can hear me say this at 3:25 in the video. If you tell me the specific items I missed I can fix it. I went through both build sheets and compared them before the video was made. Before you reply. Please confirm that I actually got something incorrect. To my knowledge the only thing I got incorrect was saying embroidered rather than embossed when referring to the seats.
@@LivingLikeGray Well, another that comes to mind is that you implied that the interior in the Cayman is not as good or less than that of the boxster. The boxster has Race-Tex material and carbon fiber trim which is really all part of the "GTS Package" interior (which you did not appear to know). The Cayman has full leather and the brushed black aluminum trim for starters. The trim alone is a $900 option. Again, you can find all of this on the Porsche configurator. Only reason I watched this video is because I have a Cayman GTS and was curious about your take. It's good that you are trying to inform potential 718 buyers, but you need to get it right. Lots of people doing car reviews these days...
@tomsimard2143 The Boxster and Cayman GTS package can come standard with leather or Race Tex for no extra money. While it's true the Cayman has the interior that does cost $900 more than the base GTS interior. The Boxster Carbon options add anywhere from $1,540 to $1,810 as found on the configurator that you referenced. Along with this the carmine red stitching options add another $2,170 more over the Cayman featured. This adds up to a total of $2810 above the Cayman on the low end. Thus I implied that the Boxster interior is better. There are a lot of people doing car reviews these days. However, I actually did my research. If you go configure these cars side by side the way they are specced, the Boxster interior is higher optioned that the Cayman featured. Along with this, the wheels of the Cayman are more expensive as mentioned in the video. As you stated "you can find all of this on the Porsche configurator."
@@LivingLikeGray I think the issue i have with it, is that the Boxster interior is only better in this specific comparison. Both options can be had on both models for the exact same price. The main difference between the two is really just one is convertible and one is a coupe. Boxster base price is up a few thousand over the cayman. So while yes in your specific example, the Cayman (with the standard interior) is inferior, thats literally just because the person who specced the car chose to keep it minimalist rather than add the GTS package. You do make it seem like, if you were to buy ANY Cayman, it will automatically have an inferior interior compared to a Boxster and thats just not true at all.

A gray sports car to go with the million gray sedans on the road isn’t limited lol. Gentian blue is unique in the car world.
How about something not so boring? Lotus Emira?
If I can get my hands on one I will definitely make a video about it
The Lotus is so damn ugly though.
I wouldn’t have anyplace to take it when I needed service.

The two cars in the video have huge differences in the options. A large part of this video is about the options you can get with each car.
