Good Morning and thanks for asking. There is a very small (no pun intended) tiny house movement going on in the country now. The primary reason for people building less than 400 (and usually less than 200) square feet is for mobility. Most of these tiny homes are built on trailers so they can be moved. Our tiny house is on a foundation because we chose to build it that way. This was the very first thing we ever built ourselves and wanted to keep it small so we could learn along the way.

Very nice tiny home. Everything you need and nothing more. Clean and uncluttered. I really like it. I'm renovating my 16 x 24 so I just bought a 10x12 shed to make into a home to live in while I renovate.

Your video has made me so happy because mine is going to be the same size and you've managed to get everything in with room to spare, and it looks so spacious! I am being held up by the Scottish weather as the concrete piers can't be done until the temperature stops dropping below freezing (as I am on our families land and isolated in the woods I don't have to worry about conforming to any planning permission stuff), and I need the piers to raise the tiny cabin off the ground as it makes a huge difference to keeping places warm in Scotland (having lived in cottages that were raised compared to others that weren't and the difference being so enormous in the respective heating costs it's a no brainer). I will have to keep your steps for Piglet in mind too as one of my two cats is getting on a bit (he's only 10 but dislocated his hip when he jumped from the first floor when he was a year old, and as he gets older and less active I see that he has stiffness on cold, damp days) and I want to make the climb up to the loft as easy as possible. ..they both like my bed during the day! So thanks for some inspiration and I will have a look to see if you have uploaded any more.

I love Piglet's cameo appearance. Your home is so cute. I want an outdoor kitchen too. Nice setting also in woods. Pretty. I posted a vid today of my micro tiny house if you want to take a peek. The 5 cent tour won't take long! I have a full sized bath tub and even a bidet. Yup. P.S. I like how you focus on fresh food without fridge. I do like you and keep eggs, fruits and veggies in the room. Learning more about curing my own meat now. Thanks for inviting us into your adorable tiny home!

Yep, there is a power outlet in the storage loft so we can plug in the fan. The small windows in both lofts do open and having that fan on helps circulate the natural mountain breezes through the entire house. We can keep the house reasonably cool in the summer this way.

Tornadoes are uncommon but certainly possible in the mountains of North Carolina. We have had some pretty server thunder storms but we've been able to ride them out without a problem. Our house is secured to our foundation with hurricane ties which makes it pretty stable. In the event of much more disastrous weather we have been invited by both of our closest neighbors to take shelter at their homes. Luckily we have not needed to take them up on this offer.

It's neat to see people living so independently off the grid. I just bought my trailer 2 days ago and am at the precipice of a whole new life! It's exciting but I'm still not settled on how far I can scale back. For instance, as I see how you're living without traditional plumbing I think... I could do that! Then I realize how much I love having hot H2o at the ready. Lots to consider! But the budget will be what dictates the outcome. I'm inspired by what you're doing nonetheless :)
I may have missed it but I didn't catch the length of your tiny home?

I love the green accents, love your presentation. Love the water supply thing. Thanks so much for sharing. We are in the research stages and hope to build a kind of tiny house (one bedroom, no loft cos we're heading for retirement years) and looking at solar and also wind power and at least being semi off grid, as it gets a lot of wind where we are. Bless! =)

We have used gravity fed camp showers and did not like them as much as the air pressurized shower. I would argue that neither is cheaper or easier than the other. The air pressurized shower was probably just as cheap as the gravity fed bags that we purchased at a camping store. As far as easier, well - it really couldn't be any easier. I like the feeling of the pressurized water better than the gravity systems.

Why do people building tiny living spaces use low tech house technologies. I would use lightweight and efficient RV technologies but add insulation thickness. I would add a lot more glass to invite the beautiful nature in, but provide insulated shutters to keep the space comfortable when not enjoying the view. Large windows and movable walls with big screen panels could open the space to decks, and open and screened porches that double and triple the living space in good weather. I would even open up the roof. How about stressed fabric structure to add covered outdoor spaces? How about building a utility core you could hook a traveling box to, so you could move your living space from place to place and just hook up to a core? Living space could even fold up like a pop-up trailer. Hmmmmm.
