The reason the sgian (knife) dubh (hidden) is held via the kilt sock is old etiquette. Its normally a small knife worn near the arm pit. The clue i.e. dubh (dark/hidden). As you had to unarm yourself when entering a home, only the sgian dubh was allowed. That wee knife looks good btw may save the pennies up for one.
