For experienced players I can highly recommend the ironman mode with the wish granter option. Deletes your saves when you die, but you get 1 additional life every survived 24 ingame hours or so. Really makes you think twice about what risks to take when. Best survival experience I had in a long time.
Ironman sounds like a cool and exciting idea, until the moment the game decides to fuck you. Maybe a strategy is to rack up your additional lives before doing loot runs, but going through a level transition and loading in front of a pack of dogs that rip you to shreds before you can react is a shitty way to have your save file deleted.
Great video exept SHIFT keybind, it's not conflicting with your run button because it's only for inventory usage, purpose is, to hold down shift and hover over items to drop them or to put into stash or grab items of corpses quickly
>he doesn´t know you can open locked doors by dropping weapons in the hinges, wedging the door open, yes even "un-unlockable" doors with concrete behind them
if you break a certain amount of boxes you get achievement that gives you a better chance to find items from boxes you break, the drop items shift button only works on the inventory you wont drop items from running
Another tip about repair: Keep any gun parts that are 60% or over as they can bee repaired to 100% using simple items like files or your muli-tool same for armor parts over 50%
Yeah, just use the respective gun kits to maintain gun parts, don't do it through the tools or crafting menus. Even though it uses a use of your kit, it's far easier to buy a kit than hunt down that perfect condition gun part you need. You can use ramrods and files to fix certain gun parts though, but there's so much more needed to fix guns up through workbenches versus just right clicking and maintaining parts with their respective kits.
another interesting thing I didn't know is you could equip a side arm in your melee slot instead of a knife, the knife you can use with the quick melee action aslong as it is in your inventory. Its the little things with this game.
I almost quit the game because the default difficulty is brutal. Your tip #4 - Customize Entire Game - Made the game much more enjoyable. Look through those menus and customize your game, STALKERS!
one of the most important things to know is that getting basic tools is very easy, you simply need to find and give a toz-194 (does not matter if the gun is broken or not) and 20 buckshot ammo to hip and she will give the player basic tools, 20 bottles of nemiroff vodka in yantar to the food/drink supplier (forgot the name) will also give the player basic tools, getting advanced toolkits is easy, just buy stashes locations until you're lucky to find one or craft 5 basic toolkits and 5 metallic scrap to have an advanced toolkit, expert toolkits are hard to find, really hard, they will have to be found either by killing stalkers and viewing pda stashes, by completing some jobs, anything that gives stashes locations from Limansk to the north will have some probability to have one, specially in Outskirts, in the Outskirts alone, 2 stashes locations i searched both had expert toolkits...found one in the red forest also but that was pure luck...field armour toolkits can be used to repair outfit parts (the parts you loot not the ones in your own suit), scientific stimpaks are awesome later in game, they will give some post healing also, fentanyl, antidote, vinca, ibuprofen are very valuable drugs, and one thing i always have with me is morphine ampoules, they will let you carry about 22Kg more stuff, that is a lot....if you can find a specific artifact that is the whispering stone it will give some psy protection and burn protection without radiation output or negative side effects, very valuable artefact....the deer hunter .338 sniper is definitely the best sniper in game, upgraded it will have an accuracy rating of more than 100%, hits very hard and the bullet travels very fast, gauss hits harder but ammo is scarce since only Spore sells gauss ammo...

@@BasedBellagio Actually, given the setting, yes. Short answer: The soviets made a ton of steel-cased ammo and it's very common in Russia because it's cheap and comparatively durable. Long answer: Most ammo in the west is brass cased. Brass is corrosion resistant and malleable. It deforms evenly, predictably, and forms a nice chamber seal. This reduces fouling. You can also reload brass casings because of this. However, brass is more expensive than steel. The soviets cased ammo with steel to cut costs, and because steel puts up with more abuse than brass. Steel ammo puts up with aggressive extraction systems better because of this. Most Russian guns have a rough extraction system, because they were made with steel cased ammo in mind, and because it's probably just easier to make it like that (Proper tuning can remove this issue). Steel casings can't be reloaded, and it tends to foul the gun up more because it doesn't deform as much. This is less of an issue with loose-tolerance soviet surplus rifles. Additionally, steel cased ammo has a reputation of being worse in general. Technically speaking, there is no physical reason for this. Practically, because it's often chosen to cut costs, steel cased ammo is usually manufactured with worse quality control.

Short answer: The soviets made a ton of steel-cased ammo and it's very common in Russia because it's cheap and comparatively durable.
Long answer:
Most ammo in the west is brass cased.
