Ok so I found out what was really messing up with my fps. It was core 0 on the CPU. I disabled it on anomaly and went from 10fps to 100fps with the extreme graphics setting on 4k. Its on the GAMMA FAQ. But for those lazy ones, heres how to do it. Open the game, hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC that'll open the Task manager, find anomaly right click and hit priority on high. Then hit Anomaly Process>Details>Affinity> and right here untick core 0. You'll immediately see your fps bump as high as posible on your system.

Thank you so much for creating a video on graphics settings specifically for Gamma. I've been driving myself crazy trying to find guides on shaders, textures, and how to make the game look like some yt videos. I'd love to see any more tips like this if you have them!

If you press home and disable all but the last checkbox in the reshade you'll get an additional 10-15 fps at a very minimal visual change. If you keep then all enabled make sure you enable performance mode in the bottom right it will net you a 4-5 FPS Increase. It's off by default

@@davidcagle920 a pretty high amount. You can train your eyes to see higher FPS the longer you're exposed to the framerate. For instance if all I ever experienced was 30 FPS it wouldn't feel like It was 30 fps because it's all I've ever seen. It would feel smooth. It I went to 144 FPS it would feel unreal fast for awhile until I became accustomed to it. After I became used to 144 FPS and went down to 60 or even 30 it would feel beyond sluggish

Okay few helpful tips not mentioned in this video that helped with my stutters greatly. When launching the game in task manager end steam and discord which will usually be on by default in startup. If you have an Nvidia card go to invidia control panel > manage 3D settings > program settings > add monolith engine and set vsync to fast on there. Go into task manager > details > right click monolith engine > cpu affinity > uncheck 0 cores you will need to do this everytime you launch the game by the way but its definitely worth it as this was the biggest fix for me. Before this I was stuttering every 20 seconds now its 90% stutters free also your game will stuter slightly on boot up that's normal because of how the game renders in just give it a few minutes. Just a heads up if you have stable frames but get stutters changing graphics settings won't fix it, it isn't a graphics issue it's just your cpu being abit fucky on this engine, hope this helps a few people.

@@Thompson011 hey you seem really knowledgeable on the optimization of GAMMA. If you wouldn’t mind I run something by you, I had a question. When I run long distances I get random micro stutters these can last a millisecond to a whole second kinda depends where I am (worst in the great swamps). Have you heard this problem before/ know a fix for this?

Just make safe when you deactivate the shader mods to also deactivate the "comulative shader pack" in Mo2
and delete your anomaly config files and start a new game before changing the graphic settings again ....
If you guys are still having issues with Gamma like I was, BUY AN SSD. I reinstalled GAMMA onto a Samsung SSD I bought just today and it ran the smoothest I've ever managed to get Anomaly to run. No hitches, no stuttering, no sudden freezing at all.
Okay so…idk why this game runs terrible for me no matter what.
-I tried “borderless window” as suggested, still runs awful.
-turned off grass entirely. Still a stuttery mess.
-tried the suggestion of turning off “core 0” still it’s terrible.
-I even tried doing just one core? Thinking maybe this game works best with single core cpu? Got exactly the result I expected…watching a slideshow.
-I’ve turned off all volumetric lighting and fancy everything. Believe me when I say literally everything that could maybe be intensive is OFF and turned completely down.
Still it’s a stutter mess with massive frame drops.
-I even tried turning resolution down to 720p and couldn’t get a stable 60fps
And I know what you’re thinking no I’m not trying to play this on a damn chrome book.
My PC’s specs are
A 1650 super
Ryzen5 3500 6 core
8gb of ram (dual channel 4gb sticks each)
4gb of VRAM in the super
It’s not top of the line but hell I can play games WAY more intensive than what this games graphics are outputting.

It kinda sucks because I really wanted to get into the stalker series and from what I hear this is the most complete package in the most consistently good stalker game…
I guess I could start with SOC with some decent mods though and hopefully won’t run into these weird performance problems… maybe it’s just some thing about how this game doesn’t play well with my CPU
All my homies hate discord, nasty spyware thats getting way to much control of the gamer space.
BIG TIP: enable ultra low latency in nvidia control panel. When looking at the gaslit candles i was getting really bad microstutter. Low latency made it buttery.
Also --》if running at 1440p, turn on image scaling with control panel, set sharpness to 15-20%. IMO this actually looks better than 1440p. I also run with MSAA on 2x. Otherwise trees look horrible.
Using Gtx 1080 also, grass density didnt do anything for my frames. Suprised at this. I've got everything on extreme. HBAO high.

Went from 32 fps to 70 and my game looks better...
I play EFP mod and it works butter-smooth on this PC. Gamma, not so much. Stuttery, laggy, particularly when looking down gun sights or seeing smoke or fire. I made all the changes suggested in this vid, plus a couple mentioned in the comments, and now Gamma runs very smoothly. I think the changes that made the most difference were (a) switching to borderless window, and (b) turning off most of the reshader options via the Home key (didn't even know that menu was a thing).
Do you have severe frame drops in Rostok, especially at night on EFP?
@@Ray-yv7kn I can't think of any region-specific lag. I do run into probs with mod-generated lag, where something in those 300+ mods breaks and things go wonky until reload, but I haven't isolated it to a specific action yet. Also, I've noticed pretty serious lag related to certain lights (when they're on). This probably applies more to crafted lamps, but I wonder if some lighting-related lag might be happening in areas where area mods have added lots of content & light sources, but that's wild conjecture, right there :)

The two things that made a change for me were the shadow map even if i find it a bit weird now for the trees textures and so on;
And also, i think what deserves the biggest shoutout is the use of borderless windowed instead of fullscreen (i'm on 2560x1440 resolution also, huge diff for my GTX 1080), i know for a fact we most of the time have better perfs but i don't know why i didn't check that one before on this specific game, well now it seems way smoother, ty again xD
So... Only Rostok is really stuttering all that much.
I really don't know what it's about Rostok that makes everything lag so much.
Probably the large number of NPCs and assets. I know in a lot of older game engines even static objects like crates and tables and shit have a lot of draw calls that can really bog down your system. Most of stalker is open spaces without a lot of clutter so you don't really notice it until you get to an area with a lot of assets densely packed into it like Rostock or Pripyat.
Reducing the shadow map to 1536 indeed give room to some extra fps, but the cost may be not worth the cut in shadow quality. In general, the shadows in the game becomes super blocky, looking like its made of lego pieces.
the first option above 1536 (I think its 2056 or something like that) is enough to remove any "blockyness" from the shadow. BUT, I think it will depend on the resolution you play the game, cuz on my desktop, I play on 1440p and at 1536, the shadows become super blocky, but on my laptop, where I play at 720p upscaled to 1080p using Nvidia Image Sharpening (NIS), I can't notice this blockyness when setting the shadow at 1536. So, I presume that, if you play at 4k, you need to up the shadow value to something like that too.
if u put ur sun shadow quality to medium it fixes all the shadows and makes them look nice and smooth while keeping the good performance

GAMMA discord actually says to run it in full screen mode after disabling full screen optimization in properties for DX11-AVX.exe
Indeed this is a mod pack for Anomaly which is, I believe, a mod that adds on from the modpack Dead Air which is a modded Call Of Chernobyl which is a mod based on Call Of Pripyat the last game in the STALKER series that combines the maps from all of them.

Tip if anyone is having SERIOUS fps / stuttering: I know it can be a pain but do a complete fresh install and make sure to follow the instructions step-by-step. I was getting awful framerates on my first install and after reinstalling the game is wayyy smoother and just plain looks better. Another side note is that updating my previous install did NOT fix the issues it required a FULL reinstall of anomaly and gamma. Hope someone finds this helpful cause it was driving me crazy lol Great video by the way!
When did you do a fresh install? I installed it like 5 days ago shortly after playing vanilla Anomaly. My FPS in Anomaly was always close to 100 but with Gamma it’s a very unstable 50-60.

Runs super smooth until it rains and then my fps go down to like 15 - 20 unplayable. Maybe it’s the king grass with water on it I’m not sure.

Is anybody else getting their frames destroyed by campfires? I don't know why but everytime there is an active campfire on the screen my game turns into a choppy stuttering fest.

Absolutely. I turned most of my shaders off and I get a smooth 120 fps in most areas (1650 super). but every time there’s a camp fire even in the distance my game stutters like crazy

I stupidly messed around with the settings my first time on and totally screwed up the lighting in game lol so setting them all back to normal was crucial, and i have a similar graphics card as you so I knew these would be perfect
Just a heads up that I dont think was mentioned: When launching gamma, try doing so without DirectX AVX. 30fps boost for me!
What settings do you use for Sun Shadow and Sun Shadow Quality you didn't mention it in the video.
I left at default but if you were having performance issues you could adjust this setting

I'm sorry but no, borderless does absolutely jackshit on a lot of configs, including mine. I am in the very sweet spot of actually doing whatever the hell I want with absolutely zero impact on performance. Min or max doesn't matter, it won't go above 55fps and it will never be smooth, some places are at 30. 3600+3060ti, the game just hates it like the plague. Any ideas?
i only have issues in the swamp. i get these 2 or 3 second freezes until what ever it is works itself out and then im good. it only happens every now and then its not an all the time thing but it does happen every time i play. not sure what to do with it.
Oddly enough, on some machines, setting graphics higher results in better frames. Don't know how, don't know why.
I tried it once out of desperation and I was surprised to find out I gained some frames.
And in other cases, settings that should logically eat a few frames don't even do so. Could be something with CPU bottlenecks, but I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough to do anything else than guess.
Nothing about this games performance makes sense
it's mostly because the pc's we have today are way too strong for older games. They overpower those games and cause issues. It's like asking the hulk to burp a baby, he's gonna struggle to not smash.

Rostok most likely is just always going to drop your performance
3080ti @ 59 fps. Unclick core 0 and went to 130fps. And I do max everything in graphics setting.
Not as much as stuttering. The game just freezes for few seconds.

The borderless completely screws rendering of texts and it seems to work well in fullscreen for me.
This helped me so much, my PC should've been able to handle this game no problem, but somehow still didnt quite hit the mark FPS wise in certain places (Like the Bandit Base). After following this it is fixed, so thank you for this ^-^
Great video, so disappointed it didn't work for me... I still have stutters, whatever I try, even if the framerate is however really great. That's so frustrating. Tried all the discord tips, tweaked the game... Now trying a fresh reinstall.... Crossing fingers....
I was in the same boat as you and just moved onto EFP and it was more stable and is honestly more enjoyable you should try it
This helps alot but at this point I just need to upgrade, my rig is ancient.

I don't know what happened but I did what you did in the video and now there is noise on my screen when in in game it looks like TV static and it's too hard to play because I can't see. I think it started after the I turned on some of the shaders stuff with the 'home' button and even after I undid all of the changes the noise did not go away.

HELP!! my skies in Anomaly are white. in the background when It should have definition and color . cannot see anything , just white and when I adjust gamma brightness saturation it does not get rid of the white sky. Any suggestions please?

Unfortunately this game is just unoptimized for modern CPU. I have Ryzen 5 3600 and still have some lags here and there due to its poor optimization towards the A-life feature.

Had this game breaking bug when entering pripyat that it gets overpopulated with mutants and my games start running at 8 fps. Invested a lot of time in my character. Wondering if there's a way to reset the number of npcs..
Have you found a fix/workaround for this? Ran into this problem and now it starts crashing upon entering. Was hoping there was some settings to mess around with, my frames are unbearable when entering. Really put a halt on my playthrough

Thanks yo, i got an easy like 20 fps for just a few tick boxes. I was following another guide that i guess might be older as they were telling me to use other stuff and my game was chunking. No worse than vanilla gamma setting, better actually i think. But this helps a lot. I would never touched borderless because of delay inputs in some games, but ill take it here i figure.

Is there any way to switch from DX11 to DX9? Whenever i go into stalker anomaly and switch from dx11 to dx9, then run gamma, the setting for DX11 is still switched on. PLEASE HELP!!!
I got a problem, when i have NVGs on, reticles of okp7, 1p76 Rakurus, and tritium ironsights on pistols are turning into a blob of light that completly obscure targets. I can't find a solution for that. Can someone help me with that annoying bug?

Trying out EFP literally cursed my PC. Not only are the Gamma reinstalls always broken, the performance is batshit ever since. Everything was alright before deleting Gamma to test out the modpack.

I have 3050 and In terms of fps I typically get 100+ on most games on max-hi settings. I know I can run this damn game but I get stutters no matter what I try.
I usually get around 75 fps but ever since my game crashed yesterday ive been getting 7fps max.
Still dont know what the problem was but restarting my pc fixed it so i cant complain too much, but it did delete all my statistics and achievements but my reputation is still the same
This literally did nothing for me. I'm having massive stutters like every 10 sec or so the screen freezes for like 1ms... I got a RX 6600 xt and Ryzen 5600X and cant properly play this...
Are you using an HDD or SDD? If you aren't using an SSD that's probably the problem.
If you are on on SSD have you joined the discord and gone through the performance troubleshooting guide? It can be the smallest thing causing an issue since this is a mod pack for a total overhaul mod, lol. I've seen people with really high-end rigs claiming they're running at like 15fps, but then they do something like uncheck "Core 0" in task manager (while the game is running) and they can run it at 4k, max everything, texture packs, etc.
There was a post on this vid that helped me. If you have 12gb free ram or more (16gb system minimum) there's a mod in the "fixes" category of the Mod Organizer (where you hit "run" to play GAMMA) called "meatchunk's prefetch" that fixed 99% of the stuttering I was having. I'm on an old laptop (Ryzen 7 3750, 1660ti, 16gb ram, SSD... so a potato) and I can run at 1080p/60fps (monitor max res/refresh rate) with essentially everything maxed aside a from grass (the three grass settings destroy performance if you crank them up. I think I'm at grass size 1 and the other two variable sliders are set at about the same position, so like 25% on the slider, roughly) and I have shadow mapping set at the 25xx (this is the one you select on the Anomaly launcher window)
Also on the launcher window try the checkbox "Support for AVX CPU" both on and off to see which works better. For the Renderer DirectX11 is usually the best way to go but I've seen some people say they had better performance with DX10. Also try "prefetch sounds" (on the launcher window still). It made a noticeable difference in lowering stutter for me when I was playing plain Anomaly, so try that as well.
But as long as you've actually installed the Anomaly 1.51 to 1.5.2 patch, and have GAMMA running, the people on the discord are helpful. (if you didn't follow the setup steps exactly as written they won't even replay to questions). But it sounds like you did or you wouldn't be running GAMMA at all, so you might ask in the performance section for some tips for your specific CPU/GPU combination.
