- The Dornier D328 HB-AES is seen taking-off in heavy snow at Bern in Switzerland (filmed in 2012). SkyWork Airlines used the Dornier D328 to provide air services to destinations across Europe from its base Bern. This included flights to major cities such as London, Vienna, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Rome, Belgrad and Madrid, as well as holiday destinations such as Elba, Ibiza, Corsica, Mallorca, Menorca, Sardinia (Cagliari and Olbia) and Zadar. Passengers enjoyed the comfort of the cabin and the reliable performance of the aircraft.
The Dornier D328 is a turboprop-powered regional airliner and utility aircraft. It was designed and manufactured by the German aircraft manufacturer Dornier GmbH from 1993 to 2008. It is a high-wing monoplane with two engines mounted on the rear of the fuselage and a T-tail. The aircraft is capable of carrying up to 33 passengers at a maximum speed of 620 km/h (385 mph) and a range of up to 1,951 km (1,212 miles). It has a maximum take-off weight of 13,990 kg (30,843 lb), a fuselage length of 16.9 m (55.5 ft) and a wingspan of 20,98 m (65.6 ft). The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW119C turboprop engines, each rated at 1,830 hp.
The Dornier D328 was first flown on 6th Dezember 1991 and was certified in October 1993. It was produced in several variants: the D328-100, D328-110, D328-120, D328-130 and D328-230. Over 200 aircraft were produced between 1993 and 2008, with the majority being the -120 variant. The D328 is used in both passenger and cargo operations. It is in service with airlines, governments, and cargo operators in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. Overall, the Dornier D328 is a reliable, safe, and efficient turboprop airliner that has become a popular choice for airlines around the globe.

Nice footage from the archives Matt, I love this cool turboprop. Great shot in these very wintry conditions!!
Thank you Jesse! Yes, it was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall. Most of these Dornier 328s from SkyWork ended up at Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany, presumably as spare parts donors. This fate applies to: HB-AES (here in the video), HB-AER and HB-AEY. HB-AEV is in Bern as fire training airframe for the airport fire department. Only HB-AEO seems to be still airworthy and is actively used as a training aircraft at Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany.
One of the most underappreciated birds, in the snow, I love it.
Thx for the great pictures, Matt.
So wonderful to see that there are a few props of this kind still at work for whomever ...
This airline went bancrupt in 2018.
Thank you! Yes, it was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall.
Ich hab SkyWork immer beim Starten und Landen zugeschaut als ich ein Kind war. Schade das sie nicht mehr existieren
great respect to these pilots
Wunderschön eingefangen trotz dem Wetter!
Respekt und von mir alle Daumen hoch, mein Freund!
Very cool snowy departure Matt. Love the D328.

Great stuff, Matt. You're always the workhorse, under adverse conditions!
Thank you! Yes, it was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall.
Wow, those are difficult filming conditions - well done! I've always really liked the Dornier 328 its such a sleek modern looking aircraft and that SkyWork livery was fantastic. This takeoff was absolutely brilliant. Imagine the sensation of being a passenger as the brakes were released ! Brilliant Matt.
Great video Matt 👍
Thank you! It was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall.
Your welcome and I bet it was cold but we could use some of that down here as it is so hot
Wow! Amazing Footage, You guys had a lot of snow over there, Thanks for Filming the Aircraft even in such tough Conditions!! :)

Magnificent footage, Matt! Awesome snowy departure.

@@matthiashaenni wow, super was ich hier immer Neues mitbekomme🙌✈

@@matthiashaenni Thank you for the extra info! (I've just read an article on the fate of the former Hungarian Airlines' Boeings - that resonates with it well.)
Thanks for shooting in the snow. It looks cold just by looking at it. I hope you don't catch a cold.

Thank you! Yes, it was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall. I am fine thank you for asking :)
Amazing filming matt, remember this aircraft very well, used to operate flights from bern to LCY, shame they went bust!! Another splendid video!
Thank you! Yes, very sad that SkyWork no longer exists. It was a disaster for our regional airport Bern.
Wow, excellent footage Matt. This flashy Dornier in snow is very top.

My 8 yr old son: Dad can you jump on the trampoline with me?
Me: Sure thing boy, just let me watch this quick video.
Son: Ok, what is it?
Me: Come.....sit....now watch and listen.
Son: Da,aaad, its just a plane taking off!
Me: Watch and listen..... This is a turbo prop
2 minutes later -
Son: WOW... Again again dad, that was choisome .....
Me: *Gotcha 😊
HAha you have a new fan Matt. Thank you 👍
Hi Aximus thank you so much! That is very kind of you and your son. It means a lot to me. A warm coffee is a great thing when you're out filming planes in the freezing cold. Much appreciated.
Love those static takeoffs!
Thank you!
@@matthiashaenni Thank YOU, so well done!
Fantástico!. Excelente video MATTHIAS!.👏👏👏👏👏👍
Gracias, Javier.
Gracias MATTHIAS!. Excelente información!. Nosotros soportando temperaturas de 36 a 42 grados!. ESTE VERANO NO NOS DA NINGÚN RESPIRO!. UN ABRAZO GRANDE!. BUENA SEMANA!.👍

Thank you Maxwell. Much appreciate your kind comment. It was bitterly cold, but of course also very exciting to film this Dornier 328 taking off during snowfall.
Superb
Thank you!
Great catch Matt! 😀 I dunno how you managed to film the D328 outside (we can hear the sleet/freezing rain coming down) and not get the lens wet or foggy. You must've had someone hold a 12 foot umbrella over you. Great acceleration with the turboprops. Faster than the jets on the same plane on take-off.
