@@LittleRedSM My head canon is that the Complex is some 5th dimensional being that A-Sync somehow tapped into. The Complex is trying to imitate human spaces but it does not fully grasp the logic and purpose of said spaces. This is why is why it mirrors our architecture yet is so irrational in it's layout. For me, it's what makes the most sense for what the Complex is.

for the "LifeForm" the stick thing creature, it actually say things, if you can under stand it.
it says things like "DONT GO PLEASE" or "SLOW DOWN". it mainly just screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
yessss i saw someone else mention this and it's so haunting. it really really bothers me when i think about it. I wonder if it's either mimicking what it hears, or if it does amalgamate bodies then maybe it's manipulating the vocal chords?
That's just a rumor. I don't hear it, my fiance who is a professional sound engineer tweaked with the audio and couldn't make out any words either. I'm pretty sure that's just a myth that resulted from fans overthinking things.

Some things I wanna mention that Kane said in his discord:
-The Lifeforms/Bacteria according to Kane are apparently "not zombies"
-The Out of Sync playlist is officially "complete" meaning no more songs will be added. However this doesnt mean he wont continue adding backrooms tracks to the fuller OST which extends beyond Out of Sync (Out of Sync seems to be solely focused on Ivan's story)

@@LittleRedSM oh, one more detail i forgot to mention, kane had also confirmed that the marble in prototype did not disappear. its just hard to see with the video noise. Seems like whatever the marble/threshold was made of it more of a catalyst for the magnetic reaction rather than the target to be sent somewhere (we see in The Third Test that even after the violent yellow light occurs, the threshold wall is seemingly undamaged, like the marble)

Can't watch the entire video due to lack of free time but my take on it is that the backrooms is by default a shapeless dimension they discovered that works on the principle of gradually transfiguring itself into something familiar to people o a specific person that was unfortunate to end up in it, so in other words the environment takes shape of people's memories. I've seen similiar theories posted around reddit and discord so I can't take credit for that but this is what makes most sense to me. I believe in Kane's genius way of storytelling and he won't go for anything cheap. Like I said can't watch the whole video but I bet you came to the same conclusion as me that the green glow behind the famous door or any green light for that matter is the phenomenon of backrooms expanding / chaging. Kane said in one of the interviews, don't remember which one specifically, that what that guy in Pitfalls saw was time sensitive so that would fit the description perfectly. He told Marvin to come quickly so that's why I think he was there as it was happening.
What's more, the same principle applies to lifeforms. Again, Kane said once that the whole place works based on strictly specified rules that are not currently revelaled. I think the previous paragraph roughly explains it but the same principle applies to lifeforms. In my view - lifeforms are something like an echo of people who died in there. Their physical form consists of bacteria that the dimension uses to create some resemblence of a human being while their mind is the memory of that person which is now trapped in there forever, condemned to wandering these empty halls for all eternity. They run at the cameraman screaming in hope for them to free them from this prison.
And last but not least there's the plot of Ivan Beck who according to Kane is the true main character of the series. In my opinion and many others the series will eventually take turn to make certain plot points personal to really flesh out his persona and get him more involved into the plot. That said I'm really skeptikal that Ivan launched this project in order to acoomodate the needs of humanity for more space. He most likely has some personal motive to explore this otherworldly space. Why - we will find out sooner or later.

One important detail I think changes certain things ( I haven’t finished the video so maybe you address this later) The lifeforms appearance and behavior in FF1 isn’t canon, at the time it was planned to be a standalone simulation video game universe type story, hense the tposing.
Yesssss that interview i referenced in the first part of the video is where i also heard Kane say that it was meant to just be like a standalone pilot! I just have *no* idea where that video is now 😂 would u happen to know where? 👀
@@LittleRedSM I don’t actually remember which interview that was or where it is now. Similarly Kane has discussed “remastering” the first episode to make the look and movement of the lifeform more accurate to the actual story, the one he didn’t have planned at the time of making FF1.

I made a theory on the lifeforms a couple years ago
Every entity is a bacteria, or, what amalgamation it is, with a body connected to a motion seeking camera.
We can see in motion captured, multiple movement seeking cameras, and a blob of the lifeform.
The lifeform is seeking a host to capture, which is why we see some sort of blob.
Why is it JUST the cameras?
Well, the writing, "Dont move, stay still" would make a lot more sense.
*They can only see movement.*
Just like the cameras!
And at the end of ff1, you get a close up of the lifeforms face. It looks somewhat similar to one of the cameras, we can also see, right before the survivor falls into a hole, the lifeforms arms look eerily similar to a tripods legs.
For the other instances of the lifeform, its somewhat the same, except for the body. At least, but the face. We dont know what it looks like, for sure, but we do know, it moves when the cameraman moves. (Or, when they get into view of the bacteria, which means something in the complex moves)
Probably means nothing but, the resemblances are there.

Thank you so much!!! I didn't think I'd learn this much from Kane's series either, I love how a lot of the sci-fi elements of the series isn't entirely sci-fi.
I just notice 45:44 the room has a crack in them kinda like the the green room when it starts cracking this shows that the green light can also be whats infecting the people and the 2 times its notibly mention is when the lifeform shows up so this thing could be infecting them and the first guy in found footage one we never see killed so it could have many diffrent ways of infecting
First off, this video is so well made that I watched it for 45 minutes before realizing it was an hour long, at which point I thought I'd only been watching for maybe 10 minutes because I was so enthralled. I only had this realization because I paused it to draft this comment without missing anything. Awesome work!
I had come to the conclusion the lifeforms were somehow mimicking people lost to the backrooms, but it never dawned on me that this is because they grew from the remains. Previously I suspected these lifeforms had existed in the Backrooms from day one as a result of some kind of Backrooms physics magic resulting from bacteria being "reflected" into the Complex (that is, to me the Complex seems to be sort of a distorted reflection of this reality and the architecture in it), and that they had merely learned to mimic people they had interacted with, but admittedly in retrospect makes no sense because there are no other forms of life nor anything else organic at all present in this reflection that is the Complex. Your theory and the connections you've made to support it make a lot more sense, so kudos to you for that as well as breaking it down for others in such an effective and entertaining way.
I had suspected the green light was somehow the "edges" of the Complex - where the reality that exists there is unstable and in a state of flux where it is actively being created and/or destroyed, and had based this off the fact that the room the camera operator is standing in at the end of Found Footage 2 seems to be decaying as the cracks form on the walls and the green light overtakes the room. However, since the Complex seems to be nearly endless, once again that doesn't really make sense in retrospect. I think that maybe my favorite part about your very rational explanation of the green light is that it might imply it is possible the camera operator could have escaped at the end of the video (😭), granted where exactly she would end up is a complete unknown.
The connection to the Sun with the solar flares contributing to the success of the experiments is also very interesting, and something I hadn't even started to piece together although clearly the pieces are there.
On a less Backrooms related note, thank you for teaching me the word dyscalculia - I never knew there was a word for this phenomenon despite that it also plagues me intermittently. (I think mostly when trying to do multiplication or division operations in my head.)
Finally, props to Pyrodime on Reddit for leading me here by recommending your video in a comment on "What is the green light?" posted to the KanePixelsBackrooms sub four days ago. I hope it leads even more people here and your channel gets the attention it truly deserves.
I find the sunken earth theory fascinating as well. It basically goes with the "I Remember" ending with the "You've always been here" which is fan theory that either the old earth actually sunk during the 1976 mirror incident creating one over top of the other or that it all turned to energy. What I think what was beyond the pitfall carpet section was "outside" probably. This is Kane's backroom and not the creepy pasta so you shouldn't suddenly end up in a amusement park or something.
Wait until you hear what I've got cookin up for my theory on The Complex! I didnt consider the old earth sinking in Overflow, but that's actually similar to one of my theories about The Complex itself!
Thank god someone actually did research that the series absolutely deserves!
As i heavily disliked Matpats theories on the series, as he either got some things wrong, made up a few things, or even outright disprove his own theory in his own words on the FF2/overflow theory.

No, not only Kane Pixels could make a room unsettling to look at. I think the backrooms existed, based on how unsettling it looked, long before Kane made his own version of it.
oh of course! I mean in the sense of you feeling like you're watching someone's first hand account of being in a scary situation. I feel like games like The Complex: Expedition really help emphasize that point too!

I don't think anyone else noticed this yet but there is one particular, very hard to discern moment in pitfalls that if true, gives some of the best evidence for the idea that the lifeforms can hear and mimic.
In pitfalls, when Marvin is entering the hallway immediately after the room with the road signs, I SWEAR I can hear something faintly sounding like a TV commercial for "American Express" or something. (Go to 11:28 on the video and try to listen for something going on about "your card" and "the United States") That and the fact that the lifeform seems to be rambling to itself in the moments before it confronts Marvin.
In all likelihood, I think the sound of that commercial was either an auditory bleed through from normal reality on it's own, or the lifeform heard it as a result of the bleed through.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this but one thing about the Lifeform sensing movement and sound...A Sync introduced those motion and sound-sensing cameras into the complex during "Motion Captured." It may be that these amalgamations also include the cameras since these things have a bio-mechanical look to them. Especially the original FF lifeform which had a weird tripod look to it when it was walking around near the end.
Oh man, I never considered the fact that these colonies could probably assimilate non organic material as well; that makes a lot of sense!!
Before clicking on the video, I thought this would be some BS-conspiracy that wouldnt make any sense. Luckily, I was completely wrong. Everything you said just makes so much sense that I am now fully convinced that this is the actual logic behind the lore. I am so impressed by your work and the mind behind the project too. Kane isnt only good at cinematography, but also at creating a high quality story.
I think the green light is the complex "feeding" pulling in structure from outside to feed on.

@@LittleRedSM I'm a big fan of his Out of Sync and Daemon playlists. He introduced me to Daemon as well, which is a fantastic book series as well. And another thing, this video is great. Sums up most of my personal theory down to a T.
Its funny, I was thinking about making an hour long analysis video myself, about Ivan Beck and how he may have lost his house (lots of house imagery throughout the series/ost thumbnails, getting enveloped by the green light, etc) I had dubbed it 'The House Theory' and no one seems to be talking about the house stuff, and I honestly believe its a big source of Ivan's trauma/motivation; to find what he lost that the backrooms took from him, his home, his belongings, potentially his family. I'm wondering if you've noticed this too. Most notably, the thumbnail for "Everything" on Kane's music channel features an upsidedown distorted house surrounded by numbers. These numbers feature a sequence of 5 digits that are a perfect duplicate of the digits from the secret home.mov video kane made, which is what tipped me off for the whole house rabbithole, since it also features a brief shot of an upside down house attic. I think being upsidedown/inverted/mirrored might be symbolism for being taken by the complex.
I've been thinking about this *a lot* too, the notes and stuff i have for that specific theory, which i'll go over in my next theory video, and what i've noticed with the house imagery, being forgotten, etc. etc.

It's interesting to note that both bacteria mentioned in the video can come from the human intestinal track, it would explain how the bacteria entered the complex, though why it mutated to turn into the creatures is still unknown, idk thought I'd mention it(if u did I prolly missed it bad listening skills lol) anyway AMAZING video i love to see stuff like this and it actually makes sense!

The current hypothesis for Ediacaran ecosystems (before the Cambrian explosion in hard body parts) is that the sea floor was covered in bacterial biofilm mats a few mm to several centimetres deep, and the Ediacaran life forms currently known from their impression fossils rooted through those mats. As animals evolved from tiny, tiny burrowing wormy things into slightly larger wormy things they may have disrupted those bacterial mats and helped destabilise and wipe out the Ediacaran biota.
its really interesting that you mention that, because one of the shots from the series is a close up on a mug with "MLML" on it. MLML stands for Moss Landing Marine Laboratory, and they do tons of marine research. 23:57 I personally think that graph is a Seismograph (earthquake graph) and the spike is when a test happened, causing an earthquake. Also, instead of going backwards, I think it is just the graph in the space above it, like lines of graphs if that makes sense?

The biggest thing to be ready for is that you need to be ready for the movie to change things up. I'm pretty sure he moved to The Oldest View because of the movie deal, and movies are such a different thing. But I hope you get more to work with regardless! If you haven't yet, I'd suggest you check out Into the Hyperverse. Like Kane, he's doing his own thing with it. Unlike Kane, you're not getting an external narrative, but rather a twisting narrative from intelligent creatures within the expanded backrooms. He's amazingly good at it like Kane, but doesn't worry quite so much on realism. It's also a bigger timesink because his videos are now ranging up to 50 minutes in length.
Yeah, it's disappointing that the series will never have a conclusion. The Oldest View has a ton of obvious overlap, but it's just not the same.

Amazing theory! This is probably one of the best backrooms theory videos out there. I even had a similar theory about the bacteria where if you stay in the backrooms for too long your body would decay and you would become the bacteria. I can’t wait to see more vids like this soon!

I'd like to put another theory in, for the first Backrooms video, it was probably a style design and also a realism style, fluorescent lights in old office complex areas used to have different heat temperature / the thing that makes light, welp, light with color, and as a 3d artist myself, is probably what happened at first but kane got a dream about it or an idea about it probably during the third test or first contact, he most likely just had a very rough scrap lore idea of the series
Red I love the amount of energy you put into this video. I’m totally sold on your theory. I think that the fact that the lifeform has 4 limbs and a head which loosely resemble a human supports your theory even more, it would seem odd that they take on that shape if they weren’t somehow predisposed to expanding in such a specific way. I imagine that a dead dog would take on a more canine shape as a regrown lifeform.

I love the life-form theory, you must have done a lot of research and it shows. However, for the green light theory, there's one point I don't understand, isn't visible light white since it's a combination of all colors? So why would this light be green (between 500 and 550 nm) if it represents all visible light (between 400 and 800 nm)? Otherwise very good video of a rare quality even for big channels, congratulations.

Typically yes since in a lot of EMS diagrams the visible light section features the entire light spectrum that we can see (the red to violet). But I believe in this series the visible light is represented by the green light for the purpose of establishing the intensity of the energy. Also, the center of our visual range or visual spectrum is where our perception is best. So, green is the color we see the easiest. Just like how green is in the center of the EMS diagram!

During the Autopsy report, I thought the reason of death was an entity due to the first found footage's very last part. Like.... Talk about a jumpscare, but moving on, it's safe to assume that these entities kill people. As for the black stuff, Maybe it was the blood altered in some way, that was my theory, BTW, thanks for changing the way I see the first found footage's monster.

The green light appears mostly when entering the backrooms, my theory is, people in the Frontrooms / real world accidentally make or find a threshold.

Always cool to see an LHC mention hahaha, great job on the physics explanations too! I remember messing around with ATLAS and some ALICE data back at university for some research, particle physics is quirky as all fuck. Happy to see somebody throwing all that weird shit into somethinh that makes sense and not some weird spiritual grift lmao
Oh, and on the whole energy building till a breaking point, the LHC did kinda work on something similar to that. The studies I was working on mostly involved the breakdown of subatomic structures in the face of massive amounts of energy. Basically just colliding protons at super high energies/speeds, and seeing the gluon field break down and spew out a bunch of quarks and the like, and ATLAS/ALICE gave up looooots of data on that sort of stuff. Cool link maybe? Who knows lmao
