The fall is the best just like you mentioned. Winter can be brutal and you sometimes wish you were laying on a hot rock in the dry desert. If you love the drama of the ocean, appreciate the beauty, and like wild weather it's wonderful.
I moved from Las Vegas to Newport 28 years ago. Absolutely Zero regrets. Yes the Weather get’s a bit challenging sometimes. ( keeps a lot people from moving here ). And yes I do drive into a bigger city to purchase certain things. Moving from Vegas to Newport is paradise to me. Never will leave the coast. I give it 5 stars. Even with all the storms in the world. And it get’s stormy here. 👍👍👍👍👍
You're speaking my language! I love waking up knowing the weather could do anything. Keeps it exciting. This place gets in your blood and its hard to ever leave! Thanks for the great comments!!!
I hear you, brother! We moved here from Texas. A hot day here is 75. I'll take it that over 110 any day! Especially since there are no tornadoes and no baseball-sized hail here. It just rains a lot, big deal.
To those familiar with Portland weather I thought I’d share the difference: The coast gets more VOLUME of rain while also getting MORE SUN. Portland (and Seattle) stay a very consistent grey blanket/light rain/mist. And they stay that way basically nonstop the whole winter and spring. The coast however is much more back and forth: rain/sun/hard rain/sun. It’s much more interesting on the coast in my opinion.
i moved here 4 yrs ago from michigan so the weather here is like an endless late spring to early spring cycle ,a light adjustment in gear and the weather was not a factor ,i live a block from the beach north of town but the trail is a bit trying and long for 99% of tourist and i use my bicycle to get around in the summer to avoid the 101 so i dont mind tourist season ,i can get 99% of what i need in life right here in town without the big city box stores and 24 hr a day donut shops and i dig the small town vibe ,the one weather warning i would give is you need to know wind and water will affect you and your home and belongings and you need to pay close attention to that or it will become disastrous
Thanks for your input Douglas. I’m with you all the way. I grew up in Alaska so I’m a big fan of the weather here. Houses and cars do take a beating but it’s always felt like a small price to pay for beach life. And I left my valley trips to Home Depot in the dust long ago. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the folks at the local haunts. Once you know what everywhere has there’s very little you live without.
I would do anything to be able to buy my grandparents' old house. We had the opportunity after my grandpa died, and I told my Gram it wasn't the right. 😭😭😭
I literally love all your videos. I’m trying to move to Newport renting for now but for sure the idea is to buy my own place. I can’t wait to be there 🤞🏼
Hi Joe, my wife and I recently moved to Newport - I was wondering if you work with commercial retail also, I’m looking to lease a store front to open a vinyl record store. Thanks, Brandon
Hi Brandon, I would love to help you find a space. I work primarily in sales but would love to help! Easiest way to get in touch would be to shoot me an email to joe@joejessal.com. I'll keep an eye out for your email!
Brandon, Im in pest control here in Newport and we work with a ton property management companies. If you want, shoot me an email and maybe I can ask around for you.
Love your question! I will say yes and no… it really is all about the outdoors here. There is an endless amount to explore. We do have lots of tourist activities like the aquarium, sea lion caves, and so on. But what you do notice living here is everything closes early and there’s not much of a nightlife. So, I could see someone younger looking to get out and meet people it could get boring. If you are looking for nightlife and plan to come here check out Primal Tones. Very cool spot in south beach.

Well put! If you love contrast in your life this is one of the greatest places in the world! Thanks for contributing!

Don’t forget the wind. The summers are very windy and the rain is horizontal in the winter. Good rain gear and I’m happy as a clam here.

We have a ranch in NM we would like to trade for one in Newport 😉
There we go. I hope you are able to pull it off!
Would be nice my husband is from Reedsport so we go there often
Try looking also in Toledo and the Siletz area for good horse property. These areas are just up the road so to speak but have real summers.
@@SisterNunya those are good options for equestrian properties.
