What's helping me stay consistent is keeping a picnic basket in my car of art supplies. I bring it in every day, but this way I can sit in my car on my lunch break at work and sketch! Plus the basket makes it feel cuter. But great tips, tysm Mimimoo!!

Oh my goodness I love that idea! I am definitely more likely to do things if they feel cute, so I love that you've put your supplies in a picnic basket - genius! 🥰✨

    1. Understand your motivation
    2. Take it one step at a time
    3. Start small (e.g., 15 minutes per day)
    4. Open your world to inspiration (e.g., nature walks, thinking of your favorite things, paying attention to your surroundings, prompts or challenges, pinterest boards, and other artists)
    5. Find a schedule you can commit to
    6. Make it easy for yourself (e.g., set systems)
    7. Allow yourself breaks

I noticed that taking the pressure off and just focusing on connections was really helpful for me. I used to create these super planned out content schedules but it always felt very impersonal and like I was trying to use a formula. I started creating what I really enjoyed and talking more directly to people and it was a big positive shift for me 😊 Thank you for another lovely video! ✨

One of my goals is to fill a sketchbook. I'm about halfway through a 70pg book. Keeping my expectations low and just drawing whatever comes to mind and not being concerned about final work.
Just stumbled across your channel yesterday and am in the process of drafting a business plan to sell digital prints! You have a great channel!

Super helpful video, thank you! What helps motivate me when I'm just not feeling it is that my usual lazy task is crocheting, so I just put on some art videos while crocheting and see if any of them inspire me - if not, I don't force it, because that defeats the purpose and all, but watching videos of people making great art and improving while just doing my lazy task eventually just makes me go "man, I really want to draw", so real easy motivation

You made my day with this video Mimi 😻! I've been working on my first solo show of paintings for the past 7 months and it has felt like climbing Everest... Exciting, inspiring and promising but also stressful (have to do my best 💪🏻!) and very exausting... I so agree that sufficient amounts of rest, recovery and daydreaming are of huge importance to avoid cracking up as well as running dry so I think I better go and make myself a cup of tea and treat myself to a poppyseed bun because I need energy to paint for yet another 6 months 🍩☕!

I was listening to a podcast that said, “it’s important to live life by design rather than emotion. Basically, sticking to a routine is what allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves (especially when you're fighting these demons ex. OCD for me).
I made the most healthy+lasting changes in my life when I began practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 40-60% effort into my habits (ex. journaling/working out) - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my youtube channel.
Because historically I have a habit of going too hard, not being able to sustain the Herculean effort, giving up and hating myself. So now I’m trying to give a small-ish, consistent mediocre effort everyday. And its crazy how it adds up.

i 100% agree with the third tip. i decided to give myself a little "rule" so to speak that for 20 minutes i do something art-related almost every day and it could really be anything like working on a WIP, a quick study or even looking at other people's art for 20 minutes. the deal is that if i get into a groove, i'll stay in it for as long as i feel like and time will allow, if i don't, it'll only take 20 minutes. it's a small but doable task that i've been keeping up with quite consistently. with it and a couple of other small but manageable tasks, i've been more creative and creating more than i have in a long time and i really feel like i'm getting somewhere slowly but surely :) this is all so so true and helpful, loved this so much mimi!

To start small and to create a scedule which I am able to follow most of the days is such an important message. I also tend to overload myself in the things I want to do leading to the feeling of not completing the tasks I would truly enjoy to do. So to start small and build up from there is so important for your motivation and and your joy for creating. Be kind to yourself everybody and let love guide you on your journey

I've started painting during our DnD sessions, per DM approval, since it gives me a consistent schedule and an extended time to sit down dedicated to the few tasks: painting, dice rolling, role-playing, etc.
Although, I've noticed it makes the camera shaky, so I'm going to start filming either the night before or clear off the desk in the same area/room we play DnD. That way I can still be involved, but it's not making my entire timelapse process video shaky.

Sometimes pushing oneself way too hard is not a good idea too.. Being consistent and allowing rest is a much more feasible long-term goal :D

It broke my motivation n joy. I'm currently trying to invest in one single program but everything on ipad is subscription based and for someone who doesn't earn in dollars it's a very high price 😭

Its hard for me to stay motivated, because I hate my artstyle. Not saying it is bad, its quite good but its not me. Also seeing other artists on IG with drawings far more worse then mine, getting up to 1k likes and I am not even able to get 100 likes on a drawing, makes me doubt myself. I'm thinking about deleting my IG and coming back one day when I am truly confident with my artstyle and stop giving a damn about others.

I think it's important to know that Instagram likes aren't related to how good your art is. Personally I think it's best to do what you want, and there's nothing wrong with starting fresh if that feels good to you 😊
