west AC was a whole different vibe when all the little motels were still operating. as a life long resident of eht/pleasantville, i’ve seen it all. my old office building that i owned and worked out of before i sold it 5 years ago was just before you started to get to the motels. almost across the street from the HESS station

@@goodjawn610 well, im almost 37 now and what i remember was a bit of a mix. when i was younger you did have a lot of families who maybe couldn't afford to stay at one of the hotels in AC so they stayed at some of these motels on the black horse pike. i'd say around 2003/2004 is when it started to absolutely crumble to what it is today
Thousands of people live in motels across the USA in maryland its so expensive all the motels are crowded with fulltime residents (Easton/Cambridge Maryland)
Humans, the most decaying areas are pushed to be homes for those suffering addiction, but there are also families having to suffer also. Homes were board3d up also so some tried to do right.
The funny part of this is that West Atlantic City isn't part of Atlantic City at all... It is and always have been part of Egg Harbor Township, not Atlantic City. Patrolled by Egg Harbor Township Police, not ACPD. That's why Casinos couldn't be built on that long stretch of road because it was outside of Atlantic City. Egg Harbor Township (West Atlantic City) and Atlantic City are two different municipalities.
@@CeciliaVillalobos-ls6ie Yup.. and once its too far gone no one will buy it so they wait for the city to knock down so they dont have to. And more then often the city doesnt want to do it either. then they swoop thru buy the land and build luxury condos that are made out of plastic. We dont build the beautiful architecture like we used to.
This area should be part of pleasantville? Good video.. what is the rent $? Theres 5-10 sketchy motels on rt 30 in absecon too…. From philly people would take white horse pike rt 30
When I go to AC I often stay at the Holiday Inn Express on that stretch of road. I never knew it was so dangerous. I’ve seen the rundown motels and abandoned buildings. Maybe I should consider staying elsewhere? The hotel seems safe and has a beautiful private beach on the bay. Maybe it would be best to not to be out there after dark? You can actually see this hotel a few times in this video, most notably at the end beach scene.
Now that its all knocked down its not as bad but still has issues. Long as your not walking around at night you should be fine but if you can find better affordable options you may want to consider them.
Been windsurfing behind that hotel for 25 years. Never had an issue, there are some hidden gems in every community. Obviously you’re gonna hang out in abandoned hotels down the road.
Have crashed in one of these motels one time after a 48 hour poker session and it most definitely had a murder, ten million prostitutes and drug users staying there previously. We got there at 9 am and slept until 4-5pm lol then drove somewhere else. But sht I would NEVER stay in one of those motels at night time you’ll just see some crazy sht and or die
But why. Why arnt their ppl keeping up with this it’s such a nice peice of land the bay the wildlife that still exist.. How could this happen. Greedy officials not caring getting payoffs I’m so disgusted … grew up in p.ville and wss as lied the bay line in west Atlantic City it used to be so nice. I used to love my town..
