- The federal trial of Dallas anesthesiologist Raynaldo Ortiz continued Wednesday. John Kaspar took the stand to talk about his wife, Dr. Melanie Kaspar, the woman prosecutors say died because of a tainted IV bag.
Unbelievable. What a monstrous act to poison IV bags.
Poison Ivy?
@@MyPigeonMilo ok, I see what you did there. Very clever.
He was truly an evil psychopath. I cannot even imagine someone being that wicked.
Pure evil. A demon.

I’m sorry for your loss. So cruel and evil.
There are always a few sociopaths drawn to any position with some prestige or power….police officers, firefighters, doctors, the military, the clergy, etc., so that they can abuse that position. And if they say the right things, very hard to catch the before their first crime.
Scary, but they are statistically well under 1% of those in these positions, 99.9% never would and are there for the right reasons.

Why is medical personnel taking IV bags home with them???
That's what your big concern is? A guy tainted medical supplies and people died and you're worrying about somebody taking an IV bag home. 🙄
She took the bag home because she was dehydrated whether she was allowed to do it or not Im not sure. . Apparently she has don’t it in the past but unbeknownst to her she didn’t know the bag was tainted.
Ye i was kinda wondering the same thing.........
Not to make light of the fact the other doctor poisoned her, but why steal IV bags?
Also an IV bag for the flu or feeling ill??? wtf

I will never understand how any physician, nurse, or anyone in the medical field, who takes an oath to help people, to save lives, and then turn around and do the exact opposite, to purposely hurt people, and unalive them.
Obviously they don't take the oath seriously... It's not hard to understand
As it's easy which is wrong there are those who go into psychology which don't like people and go as they can
Same reason said physician would take an IV bag home to give themselves "hydration" probably.
These are stupid people.
I’ve been a nurse (RN) for 29 years and I have never heard of, or known of, any physician taking iv bags home to be administered to themselves. I have a constant issue staying hydrated due to having had my large intestine and rectum removed due to cancer. Part of what the large intestine does is absorb water, and water soluble vitamins (like b12). So I’m constantly drinking water and liquids. Yet I’ve never taken iv bags or even iv start kits home for my own use. I’m curious if the facility in this report has any problems with IV medications, like opiates or benzodiazepines going missing?
This whole thing is just really weird. just really weird.
Some people are pure evil.. so sad.😢
I’m very sorry for your lost of your wife. This is terrible.
"feeling a lil dry today, I think I'll give myself an IV fluid drip when I go home."
Said no normal human ever in the history of anything. What the hell?
The poor man, he lost his wife bad enough but to witness her die in torture 💔💔💔 The rest of his life he will see that.. I hope the murderer never ever has a moment of freedom and peace
What in the world 😮. I’ve never of this case. These doctors cannot afford to buy their own medical supplies for their families. They’re just taking it, which is actually for patients home.? if it was other staff members, I don’t know a nurse janitor CNA whoever if they were taking that they would’ve been fired on the spot hate that this happened.
This is so scary. I had shoulder surgery at that location in 2022. To think this was going on and I easily could have been one of his victims makes me scared to ever have surgery again if needed. God was looking out for me and other patients for sure, although I have no idea if this doctor was working that day. Just makes one think!
God Bless the victims and their families. What an evil man.
Why are these people using so many IV's at home?
It says in the story she brought home bags to treat him for dehydration.
@@AmusedChild yes, why are we thinking this kind of behavior is ok? Why are our doctors so bad at being human?
My grandma always said to never trust doctors or hospitals, only go for life and death situations! They will always find something wrong with you or make something up to charge your Ins, then you will believe it and it will make you sick!
It's not that unusual for Doctors to treat themselves or family members for minor issues.
@@fna7196 the point is that there is a human that can’t manage its homeostasis and for some reason we pay for this person to give us health advice.

Never take IV's (medications) nor medical supplies to your own home BIG NO NO!!! Shame on those that do that😤😡, if i know any nurse or doctor taking medical supplies home and using them on non hospitalized people REPORT THEM TO STATE BOARDS!
I was under the impression no staff to take anything home from work at all, but I guess they can I think
@@lymarie1974 they cannot! But some nurses take IVs to hydrate themselves after a hangover. They xan lose their RN license. Its a crime.
It's a crime but people do it because they can however in this case, I'm surprised these 2 can't think to remove the IV bag immediately as it could've been tainted or whatever, it's the most obvious thing to do
I doubt the IV bag was medication. It was probably for hydration. I used to always hear about docs doing that to get over hangovers
So WHAT do you do AFTER you buy them from a pharmacy???
They never should have been using iv bags at home.
Guess what moron, if she hadn't, they would have never known for a while what was killing people, so right or wrong she as a doctor still saved lives.
This is completely wrong. IV bags are used for in home care all the time. You can even use them for recreational use under supervision.
Really, you’re blaming the victims for this? It was hydration fluid, and they are used all of the time for dehydration. It was a private surgery center - it’s not like she stole them from a hospital or something. She knew and was licensed for what she was doing - it is a benign and common practice. The big question is why you aren’t more concerned about her being murdered. Therapy maybe?
Death penalty.
That wife who died resembles Ron Ely's 2nd wife, a former Miss Florida. May God rest her soul and comfort those who lost her.

Only the liberal ones.
It’s not illegal to have IV bags at home for use. A quick research is all it takes.
Someone is dead and they're worrying about the IV bags that they took home, not the guy who tampered with them.
2:24 “trying to poke holes in the prosecution narrative…” nice word choice there
Yeah, I cringed at that too.
Oh, no, Andrea, the reporter said
, not once, but twice, that the defense were “trying to poke holes in the prosecutions’ case”! Pun not intended, Andrea?
Why was she treating herself, at home, with iv fluids?

@@shellchenonceau6987 .. Yes .. You are correct .. Epinephrine .. I was able to find a NEWS story on FOX-4 in Dallas, that noted the drug being injected into IV-Bags, and they played a surveillance video that showed Dr.-Ortiz injecting an IV-Bag through the Bag's "wrapper", just before he placed the IV-Bag into a Warming-Cabinet .. What a Lunatic ..
Bupivacaine
Selfishness
Exactly
Who takes ivs home like that???
Medical personnel. If you have the flu, etc it's easier and a lot cheaper to treat yourself than go to a hospital plus it's a lot faster. No waiting time:)
Holy moly😱Dr
Why was he messing with the iv bags?
No, taking IV bags home from the hospital is not permitted but people do it. THAT'S NOT THE POINT THOUGH - this anesthesiologist was injecting them with bupivacaine with the intention of hurting or killing someone. LAST (local anesthetic systemic toxicity) can be deadly if not treated quickly. The typical treatment is IV intralipids which the hospitals did not know to give considering they didn't even know what was happening to these people.
What was his motivation
Mental
Revenge… he got mad at somebody.
No conscious
This is what that killer nurse did. He was injecting I.V bags with small gauge needles for months. They made a netflix movie about it.
This story is tainted IV bags and who is responsible for tampering this solution. It should not be about taking these IV bags home.
I lost all faith in the medical establishment during covid! I stay as far away as possible from our city hospital. Something has changed and its not for the good. I dont even fully trust my own Dr. cause he's in a contract with the hospital that tells them what they can and cannot do.
Another reason to stay away from these quack doctors you never know what's going thru their twisted minds...
IV bags can be bought online. There is nothing inherently problematic with buying an IV bag online or from your place of work. It’s just saline. Heck, Gwyneth Paltrow uses them regularly!
😢
Casual use of IV bags in the home?

WTF?
Something is wrong with doctors self medicating at home. If it’s not illegal it should be.
It is said of attorneys, an attorney who represents himself has a fool for a client.
The same is true for doctors.
They do it all the time. Take a chill pill, dude.
It’s not self medicating. It’s saline. Salt water. No medicine involved. It’s used in homes for dehydration all the time by licensed practitioners. Get off the soap box - you don’t know what you’re talking about.

IV bags are for in-hospital monitored use, they're not take home supplies. It's incredibly sad that she died and I wish she had survived, but the silver lining is that what she did exposed the tainted IV bags so they could catch the killer doctor. He probably has a long history of victims not even discovered yet, and he would have kept going.
Well said.
