The words are by Charles Wesley, a methodist, strict calvinistic protestant preacher and hymn-writer.
@@timotheecoloueille7647I don't believe Wesley was Calvinist. Wesleyans--and by extension Methodists--are Arminian. 🙂
And the composer is Anglican as far as I'm aware, but we Catholics can certainly use this kind of music
